Barry, George, Bill, George, Ronald, Jimmie. That's this current run. Jimmie gets the credit for Iran & the rise of "radical islam". The "Hostage Crisis" was Jimmie's war. Barry gets the credit for the "Arab Spring" and "Rise of The Caliphate". Which runs across Africa. The "Obama Wars". Plural. Egypt, Libya, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Somalia, etc. And the Putin regime's moves. You can fill in the middle Prez's contributions to the progress of screwed up. George the Elder had "Desert Storm" Bush's war. Bill had the Balkans, "Monica's War", and Iraq. George the Younger had "Iraq War 2 - Bush's War". Nobody gets a Pass. But. Before that we have the French and Brits slicing up the middle east post WW1. That's after fighting tribes allied with Germany. Then the Tribes allied with the Soviet Union. ( Saddam H., Abbas, etc. ) Plus the results of European Colonialism. And before that...... The Caliphate - ottoman Empire. Before that..... Crusades. before.... The Holy wars of the Prophet, and the creation of a slave owning, warlord faith. And before that Persia, Rome. Which still has bearing in the culture of what is now Iran and the region. And we can skip all the way back to Ur, But I think the Byzantine Empire is as far back as you really need to go to get a good grasp on the situation. Except to note that the oldest walled villages found by archaeology date back to about 14,000 years in the middle east and Vietnam/Cambodia. Thus the oldest places where man waged war as we know it. | ||
