October issue of Cycle World tested the SX, BMW R1200R and the KTM 1290 SUPER DUKE R. Good article, gave the 1190SX a decent review. |

I assumed you meant October 2014. It's not even September yet, lol! It's always puzzled me how zine publishers release more than a month early, and next years cars/bikes are available in the year before. And Christmas decorations on sale before Thanksgiving.. Magazine dates are the equivalent to an expiration date, they are marked that way so they know when to take them off the shelf. |

The only down was the fuel mileage of 37mpg. I'll bet Froggy is working on getting 50 plus somehow. |

Are you saying that they knocked a superbike powertrain for its fuel mileage? Good Lord, what is this world coming to. |

Nah, that's my knock. Froggy's picture is in the dictionary under "hyper miler" so I figure that's one of the first things he will work on with the SX. Cycle World was only concerned with vibration, seat comfort and an as yet uncertain future. |

Vibration? I can see that. Uncertain future? Sure However, I find the seat quite comfortable. We're not talking about a cruiser here. |

Hmmn, they must have liked the instruments, then. Sound like them. They've kinda sucked since they lost a lot of their more prominent writers a decade or so ago. |

I only have a little over 1k miles on my SX, I haven't tried hypermiling it yet as I was still dealing with the break-in. I have averaged 37.785mpg over that 1k, with my most recent fillup being at 44.890mpg. The instant mpg reading gives similar numbers to my 1125R, so I imagine once everything settles in and I settle down a 50mpg tank average does not seem unreasonable. I have not felt vibration to be an issue, it is buzzy over like 8K RPM, but given how little time I've spent with it spooled that high it hasn't been an issue. Same could be said about my 1125s. The seat is fantastic, easily the most comfortable stock seat on a Buell, including the Ulysses. I do like the 1125/Firebolt Touring seat more, but for now the stock seat is fine for grinding up the twisities all day then slabbing it back home. The only thing I don't like about the bike is that she is such a maintenance slut between the chain drive and valve check at every service interval. To top it off, the stock tires, while it is sticky enough to ride the bike upside down in a tunnel, seems to last only a few minutes. I'm debating having another one thrown on or switching to a sport touring tire, at this point I don't use the bike for commuting. |

EBR was in business when the test was conducted. I expect a neat announcement in the coming days. |

Naturally, my copy hasn't shown up yet. My subscriber copy has yet to arrive either, but I was able to check a copy out on the newsstand tonight while waiting for my regular Sunday dinner stromboli. I don't know why the concept of subscribers getting their copies before the newsstand is no longer the status quo, but maybe it's just another signal that print media is a dying breed. Since I expect to get my subscriber copy in the immediate future I only scanned through the article briefly. The SX in the article was a dark color, don't know if it was Galactic Black, that wicked silver color that was shown on RX's at last years AIMExpo, or if it was actually a true black (like I said, I only scanned it briefly), but it had RED wheels! As much as I love the red wheels on my XB12XT, I could never imagine trying to keep any color of wheel other than black clean on a chain drive bike. Can't wait until I am able to read the full article in the comfort of...my own reading room, 1313 |

The silver/gray RX with red wheels was badass. Since an SX with that color combo wasn't available in 2015, maybe this is a 2016 model? |

Oooohhh that SX! Colored wheels. "Bikini" fairing. Short exhaust. Your going in the right direction...belt drive next?? |

Not a big fan of colored wheels. Belt drive would be nice. I'd love to see someone use the outlet from the secondary as the short exhaust tip. I think it would blend better. |

I wonder if the shock on that SX has a different spring rate than the stock shock |

Ferris, I was glad the 2010 xb9sx didn't have colored wheels. I think galactic black is the best RX color. I drive a black pickup. lol Pwnzor, I've had bikes with white wheels before. Cleaning chain lube off regularly was not fun at all. |

I agree, go back to a belt! Get rid of the take up roller that's bending the belt backwards and make the axle accurately adjustable! Problems solved! |

Oddball- the 2010 SX did have colored wheels depending on which color bike it was; translucent red had red wheels; translucent blue had blue wheels (my personal favorite color combo). Finedaddy1- some of the EBR guys were looking into converting their EBR's to belt drive a while back. Apparently the front sprockets are/were out of stock and they were checking into converting to the 1125 belt setup. The only issue was the rear pulley won't fit on the EBR rear wheel, so you'd need to make up a custom pulley or use an 1125 rear wheel. Back to the subject of this thread, a week later, and I STILL didn't get my copy of Cycle World. |

Needs some translucent plastics. I'm trying some ceramic brake pads to see if they run cleaner. Anyone ready to buy a new bike? Here they come. |
