What I WANT is a great sport TOURING bike. No Sport Touring bike is going to handle like my old 1125R or my current CBR600RR. Bart, if you want a great ST with better handling/suspension than a Ninja 1000 and gobs of torque, you need to test ride a VFR1200. Despite Honda's mixed marketing for that bike...it loves twisty backroads and eating up miles. Honda was dreaming with the MSRP of $15,999. But now you can get leftovers under $10k, they are a pretty amazing deal.

My old r1100rt has shown many sportbikes it ain't the machine: it's the lunatic riding it. Wasn't this thread about EBR..... Not Buell vs. the world? |

I4 power delivery in my experience on superbikes has been, peaky, with a big hit of power, and while sowing machine smooth at idle they tend to get vibey the higher the revs climb. Not to mention just about every superbike out there is designed for a horse jockey. The EBR's power had a little rush at 6.5K stock and is dead flat with a race ECU. It rumbles at idle and smooths out at higher revs. The "American cut" ergos allow me at nearly 6'4 to relax on the bike in a tuck and it responds well to changes in suspension so it doesn't feel all black magic and I guess when it comes to making changes. Above all it corners like a much smaller bike which provides confidence. All of this has me thinking less about the bike and more about the road/track, making me a quicker safer rider. In music top instruments provide the individual musician with the FEWEST obstacles to overcome in achieving their own unique sound and style. This is what makes certain instruments worth more to certain artist in certain styles than others. Even though a BACH Strat and a King Silversonic both Silver trumpets they play differently and are optimized for different stylistic approaches. The EBR suits my style better than(most) I4's. There is bang for the buck to be accounted for in that as well. One may well be able to buy other brands and I4's cheaper but if you have to spend a bunch of money to get it set up how you want it to suit your riding style you haven't actually saved anything and may have to way spend more. The RX appears to be a killer club level racer with ECU, Exhaust, thinner head gasket and QS. To get to the same level on a zx10 (despite having more power) you need rear sets, water pump, lightweight stator, radiators, brake calipers, brake discs, cams, pistons, rings, valve springs, ECU, Exhaust and a 520 chain conversion. True it appears you can trick the zx10 to beyond the EBR's performance capabilities up at the WSBK level, but again, you have to be able to ride it at that level. Take a look at Rodrob's or Pat Mahoney's race footage. TC OFF and no spinning the rear up and leaned over wheelies off the corner. Mean while BEHIND them are guys on more powerful bikes with the TC flashing and high-siding themselves. That feeling of flying close to the ground when a rider is at one with the bike and the brain forgets its operating a machine and the bike is simply an extension of your body is the best bang for the buck and the EBR let's ME achieve that better for the reasons listed above. Not even my highly lusted after RSV4 suits my natural riding position and style as well and I flat LOVE everything about the APE. I just can't get as comfortable and in sync riding one because of a few things, so the RX is just a better bike FOR ME. EBR needed(s) to do a better job of marketing that ease of use to the average rider. Track day orgs say the average rider is quicker on a 600 for a number of reasons. Most of those reasons are addressed on the 1190 except you have liter bike power in a package the average guy can actually use. |

Sending Cory West around to do track days with 2 bikes had the potential to be the first really smart marketing move EBR made. Too bad it was too late. |

I don't know if this is good news or bad? Right now I have mixed feelings about this! The same company that basically put EBR out to fail by not paying for the R&D that EBR supplied to them then purchases the company! Does anyone really trust these guys now? |

Given they didn't even consistently spell the name correctly, I would take it with a grain of salt. Given that the auction hasn't happened yet, I'd take it with a truckload of salt. |

WTF I'm not sure if i should be or . Unfortunately none of us know what actually happened, Speculations and cold hard facts are not one in the same. I will have to wait for the news to be released by a creditable source along with the beans of what actually happened before I decide to blow a gasket. |

My take: there's nothing in JSonline.com at this time to confirm or deny, so it's just someone blowing (toking ) smoke until credible sources are verified. |

Looks like Asphalt and Rubber has spoofed the report of Hero buying out EBR by reporting it was actually purchased by the Flying Spaghetti Monster. We'll know the true story in two days I guess. |
