I just donated to Carson. I don't think he . . a talented, honest and brilliant person . . has a chance in this fracas.

But . . i wanted to make my statement. I'd love to see him get LOTS of small contributions . . just to start making our point that it's time for change.

The "Hope and Change" thing has been a miserable failure . . .we're deeper in debt than anyone (including Barack) could have imagined and the economy is a cesspool for business

I heard a radio loon last night complain that Marco Rubio was a tool of the rich Silicon Valley guys who want to replace expensive Americans with cheaper foreign workers, hence his call for more work permits.

I haven't researched this, please comment.

American universities don't want Americans to get technical degrees...they're too hard, and lowers the graduation rate. PoliSci, psychology, English, art history. These are the degrees our future work force spends their parent's 401Ks on, or goes massively into debt to obtain, and why companies who want to hire a qualified work force often have to go to India to get it. Spare me your (the reader, not anyone specifically) current hatred for all things Indian. I work with several. They aren't the devil. And they aren't underpaid.

The company I work for has a very old work force. Half of our employees will retire in the next five years. The #1 concern of our CEO and board, is not feedstock costs, or completing the 5 billion dollar expansion underway in the gulf coast on time and on budget. It is how we're going to replace all those retiring workers in the current education environment. Very few people want to become organic chemists, or chemical engineers. And no one seems to want to get their hands dirty. Most of our positions don't even require a degree, but they often involve work (spit) in an industrial environment. The public has been brainwashed to believe that the only way to succeed in life is to get a four year degree, and that a life in the trades is for losers. Yes, degrees help, but only if your degree has a real world application, other than teaching said subject to other future teachers. So we've got whole herds of people with useless degrees and mountains of student loan debt going after jobs that don't exist. I realize that there are cases where businesses dump their existing employees in favor of low wage imports. I get it. I don't know how you separate those from the companies who need work done and have no one willing or able to do it here. We offshore some work to India. SAP ABAP programming for example. Not all of it, we have our own programmers in house, but quite a bit. There's too much work to do for our in house team to get done. It's a fairly esoteric skill, so hiring is difficult. We have to steal them from other companies. OK, ramble over...

Hoot, that's a subject for a another thread. When I was younger I thought I was surrounded by people who were a whole lot smarter than me. Now, not so much. So what happened? I'm pretty sure my IQ remains about the same so it must be that America is dumbing down.
Case in point, I recently sold my house so I went to the bank to open a savings account to temporarily park $370K. The "financial pro", who had numerous diplomas and awards hanging on the wall, explained that I'll be getting 0.1% interest on the account. I thought for a moment and quipped, "I wonder how I'm going to spend that $1 a day I'll be earning on that?"
He replied "What?" and then got out his calculator, entered 370,000, multiplied by .001, divided by 12 and again by 30 (why he just didn't divide by 365 is beyond me) when he concluded that, yeah, it's about a dollar a day.
Dang I'm no human calculator and assume just about everyone can multiply by 1 or some decimal equivalent of 1, and that 370 is close to 365, but now I'm worried about my money. Time to buy another house ASAP.
But back to the subject of this thread, God help us when pseudo-intellectuals like Obama are praised by the masses and a classically schooled republican is scorned as an elitist who is out of touch.

Hoot, sorry if you read me wrong. I was the one off topic and tried to save it with the last sentence. I bet we could generate a multi-page thread on the hopelessly undereducated youth of this country. Like the girl at Chick-fil-a who tried to give me $5 extra in change. She apologized saying she was "not good at math". I told her "Maybe, but this is just arithmetic."
See? There I go again.

At least not all of our young are not completely incompetent. My nephew did his time in the Marines learning aircraft maintenance on C-130s. When he got out, he went right to school using the GI bill to his best advantage. I'm glad to say that he has just gotten his first full time job in the air transportation industry. He'll be splitting his time between maintenance and flying charter trips. He flew his first charter trip just last Monday. I give him credit for setting a goal with real steps to get there. Here he is doing his thing as a Marine...

Funny thing, but he went into the Marines not long after John Kerry made his statement about getting educated so you don't get stuck in the military. My sister-in-law picked up on that theme when she heard of him joining. Didn't go over well with me or my wife. Her son spent 5 years at the University of Illinois to get a "hospitality" degree. He's now a desk clerk at a motel in central Illinois. At least he's not "stuck in the military".

Thanks Hoot. Don't disagree.

The question is....Is Rubio taking bribes to help companies to fire Americans and hire cheaper workers from China & India?

Kerry isn't a complete idiot. Liar and traitor are spot on.

People called George an idiot. Incorrect. He trained in supersonic fighters. Not very articulate though.

All honor and respect to your nephew. Marine Air creates top rate individuals with skills that easily transfer to a host of occupations.

In addition, the discipline, teamwork and keen focus on a goal will serve him well in any field he chooses.

I was a Cthulu fan, but SMOD has some good points.

Cthulu does have a snappier motto. Better than Hope & Change, IMHO.

Good toon there Reindog. I have been wondering though, why is that in recent elections the Republicans put up so many candidates, while the Democrats only have a very few. This seems to be a trend over a number of elections now.

This wide field worries me. Going back to when McCain won the primary, was he really the best pick? I think he was the outlier that got all of the votes from left leaning Republicans, while the rest of the vote was completely fractured. I've always felt that the system failed us in that election. I'm not sure what the fix is, but it just feels like a crap shoot when you have this many candidates. It still seems better than the Democrats system of declaring who will be the choice years ahead of time like they have with BO and H.

I believe that this time, once the primary season comes to a close, the non-candidates will submerge their egos and get behind the front-runner (or at least not trip them up, as has happened in the past)
They are really having a limited "convention" to sort through the ideas out there and come up with a platform that most voters can get behind.

One big reason McCain got nominated was the Obama voters in New Hampshire voted McCain, since Hillary was a lock there.

Deliberate manipulation of the system. Quite legal.....morally?

Great strategy picking the opposition.

Candidate Paul just explained to us why he does not deserve to be President.

He blamed the Republican Hawks for arming ISIS.

Uh, no.

ISIS was armed by the Administration. Hillary, Barry, and John Treason Kerry.

Yes, Some R's supported arming the rebels in Syria, but Most were afraid that the Barry Bunch were going to be idiots about it and give weapons to Islamofascists... and they did.

Obama's Proud retreat from the region left a power vacuum. Barry's lack of support for the rebels in Iran, But his FULL support for rebels in any country not at war with us, has turned MULTIPLE countries that were fairly crappy into blood soaked hell holes.

Sorry Senator Paul. I admire your commitment to personal freedom and the Constitution, I support your attacks on the Patriot Act.

Your idiocy on actual history and foreign policy make you completely unsuitable as a Commander in Chief in a time of war.

You were aware we are at war, Senator Paul?

Darn, and I like the guy, He's often right, but just like daddy, the Crazy comes seeping out at the worst times.

If this were the 1990's He might have been an awesome choice. He might not have screwed with Russia while cutting defense, not done several things that in retrospect were bad ideas. ( Hindsight may be 20/20 but it's pure Bull crap to judge ALL decisions based on stuff known THEN )

But we have ISIS attacks on U.S. soil, today, trying to kill our people, our rights, and our Honor.

One regiment would solve ISIS, forever. Under intelligent leadership. We DO NOT have that leadership with the Barry Bunch, and by the time of the election it will take far more than One regiment. Paul is, unfortunately, the wrong man for the times.

Feel free to disagree with my opinion, and correct me if I have the facts wrong.

I heard the shocking expose of the 4 tickets in 17 years . . . .

I think the NYT proved a good point . . . how far, as print media does it's slow death march . . they have their collective heads up their ass.

If, with Hillary arguably answerable for about 12 felonies . . . that's all they have on Rubio . . . I'd call it an "endorsement by default"

Full disclosure: I just wrote a check for $743 today for a speeding ticket. I . . . like Rubio . . am tainted.

http://www.glennbeck.com/2015/06/09/this-is-why-ji m-gaffigan-is-one-of-glenns-favorite-comedians/

Jim Gaffigan ( Comedian ) makes a great point in this interview. Social media & Youtube make any mistake you make in public, misspellings, stupid comments can mess your life up...... ( "At least Hitler made the trains run on time" can get you all kinds of crap, and besides, it was Mussolini they said that about. German trains ALWAYS run on time! ) ( and that joke can get me blackballed from some places ).

So expect a major anal probe of every second in every R candidate's life, and it's going to be a gore fest. Now everyone is connected. High school sweet hearts will be interviewed, all your Facebook Friends will be scrutinized, and it won't be pretty.
