Hello everyone! Long time no see.
Well it's been six months or so since I "woke up"
and its been a while since I posted anything to anywhere
so I guess at catch up is in order

Everything physically is doing well
my stamina is too short and its frustrating
but I've been busy at the property and I'm getting stronger
Dan says I need to "bulk up" I agree
but being over 50, its a slow process

Mentally, I'm getting better too
sometimes talking comes easier
I'm having more and more better days and fewer of the bad
the right side is taking over what it can, like speech
The aphasia is still getting in the way, but its mostly stuff I can laugh at

The last seizure was as Dr Hartman said was a "game changer"
He said from here on out I would be on keppra twice a day
then he said the incredible
No swimming
No climbing
No operating equipment
No driving/riding
For life
Dr Syed said the same thing only he said "indefinitely"

So I'm trying to concentrate on what I CAN do
and the best place to do that is Yawateg aka The Property

I love y'all and you've been awesome support
and a huge part of m recovery
Thanks y'all you're the bestest

Good to hear from you Dave!

Keep taking it one day at a time... find all the beauty that sits waiting in all the little things around you, and keep being a blessing to all your friends and family. That's a well lived life.

Hmmm, a racing sidecar outfit then, the quacks never said you couldn't be the monkey.

Very glad to hear you're doing so well.

Perhaps you ascend to the role of Chief of Operations, BadWeb Members Southeast Division.

Or something.

Wow, Glitch- talk about "game changing"...

OTOH, so glad to read this post, and hear that you're doing well!

+1 on the sidecar rig fo sho, maybe you and Ann should pick up a nice convertible so you both can get the breeze in your hair.

Don't know if I've mentioned it before, but- one of our two dogs, the Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix, "Rocky", started having seizures last year. We think the precipitating event was when he wanted to jump in my lap and hit his head HARD on the underside of our patio table... anyhoo, now we've got him on 2X daily Zonisamide. He's still prone to having about a 30-45 second-long seizure once every couple of weeks- usually it's when we're all in bed sleeping, early morning. What a crappy way to wake up...

Dave, I sure feel for you and Ann. It's bad enough to watch my little dog go through it... I dearly hope your docs get your meds dialed in, 100%.

Keep on keepin' on, friend.

Hang in there Glitch. Life changing doesn't mean it's over. It's the people around you that matter.

Well. At least they will let you breathe, eat, sleep, and walk about!

Now that you know what you can't do, you have time to show them what you CAN do!

It was really a great moment when I saw you walk up on that porch at TWOS, to then have a conversation with you. Remember when they doubted that you would EVER do that?

Don't forget that in spite of this new 'limiting' news, you are still doing great!

About the bulking up.....don't get carried away with it like I have. After changing some medications I'm finally loosing some weight now, but man is is difficult doing a push up at 270 lbs when you are in your upper 50's.

Glitch, luckily for you, you live in beautiful Georgia with a nice porch and a swing. If I were you, I would sit in that swing and enjoy the Georgia breeze while sipping on some lemonade.
Its good to hear you're doing well buddy.

I believe in the power of the human spirit, the strength from those around us, and the powers beyond our realm.
You sound like you've got all those and more working for you. Keep getting better!

Ok I can do the sidecar thing, but do not set Ann as the pilot, Charlie would be more my speed. I have to ride with Ann and she scares me sometimes...
But I do love her so very much, she has done more than anyone could do, she being a care giver is easy, its having to deal with the system that tires her out.
But still scares me when she drives...
The deal with the "4 No's"
I've got a scar on the Left Frontal Lobe, that makes me have seizures, no driving.
Keppra is a schedule 1. I have to call the Doctor each month so he call it in. If its too soon, say by a week, they'll tell me wait a few days...
Schedule 1, no driving.
Although there's a guy that looks like me operating a front end loader/backhoe at the property
The Property has been a God send!

Glitch,
On the way home from work tonight I heard this lady on the radio. Then I saw you posting again.
I don't know anything about the book but I thought you might find it interesting.

She is back to riding mountain bike again, three to four times per week.

They didn't have to, City! LOL

Mike I'll give a ring next time I'm here. I'm headed up this week and will be off grid for the next week or so.

Dan has a Honda scooter up at property that I've riding to get around the property. Its ok when its dry but when its wet its "like you're a 12 year old on a Huyabusa"
Last night he got a new front brake, the original was sticking badly and ... knobbies!!!

knobbies on a scooter - that sounds as fun as the time we took the seat off the Rucus and tried to 'surf' on it
none of us were successful for long.
