I need to get a motorcycle from Fresno, CA to Charlotte,NC and need a good recommendation for a shipper who won't require that I first crate the bike? Sold my house and leaving the land of fruit & nuts Going to stop by my daughters house in NC to do some local rides. I'll probably leave the bike there while I search for a place to live. Don't know exactly where that will be but I've had enough of this state. I called Haul Bikes. They quoted me a price and said they are full right now and are encouraging their customers to call back in 2 weeks. Does anybody want to do their own version of Vanishing Point on an FJR? |

I've used Forward Air twice. They supply a metal shipping container with a door on each end. Easy peasy. All you've got to do is get the bike to one of their facilities, which are typically near major airports, roll it into the container, and have the receiver go pick it up at the destination. |

Doublecheck fluid requirements. Some not only want fuel, crankcase drained but ALSO wanted fork oil out. There are a couple moto-friendly shippers in Motorcyclist and most motorcycle mags. |

I used Daily Direct with success. They were the Buell Demo Fleet Guys (Gary & Co.) that moonlighted... The trucks were black, white and blue in a very recognizable pattern... http://www.uship.com/profile/haulbikes/ |

All Forward Air required was that I drain the fuel tank. They didn't check. Either time. |

I'm thinking in a couple of years (once retired) it would be nice to have people pay for my plane rides so that I can cruise the country on their bikes. |

Just a follow up for those who are interested. Forward Air provides a secure package with your bike riding in their provided crate and tie-down straps. Downside is that the nearest terminal (they only go from major airport to major airport) is a 6 to 7 hour round trip ordeal. In the end, I chose MC Pro Logistics. They will pick the bike up at a friend's house and deliver to my son-in-law's house for 1/2 the price of Forward Air. Thanks for the tip from a fellow BadWebber. |

Thought you were shipping it to Charlotte NC...? Forward Air has a major hub there. BUT, they are kind of pricey. What I do like about their service is that you can cram a bunch of gear in the crate along with the bike, and lock it up. edit... I see the long drive is to Sacramento or Los Angeles to drop it off, not the Charlotte end of the trip (Message edited by pwnzor on May 23, 2015) |

I've always used Allied with good results. One time they did 15 bikes for me with no problems at all. |

Hybrid, I'm supposed to be in Waxhaw for a high school graduation on the 11th. After that will hang out a few days and then point the RV north. The bike will stay in NC until I find a permanent address. Teep, I'm glad someone else saw the movie and got my reference. After what that guy did to that Challenger it was ready for the scrap heap anyway. With that, this thread can die of natural causes. Thanks guys. |
