Mother......'s? Whatever term you like that councilman is one. Tpoppa, please read the link I posted above. Police must be held to the same standards as any other citizen. More, in fact. Some people have the capacity for violence. If they prey on others they are sociopathic and the wolves among the sheep. Some people have the capacity but live by a rational moral code and feel a duty to protect the sheep. Sheepdogs must never prey on the sheep, and other Sheepdogs will and should hunt them down with even more effort than hunting the wolves among us. There's a lot of cliches, bad apple spoils the barrel, but simply police must be citizens and protect others from not just the criminals but the bad cops. When the police prey on the people they no longer are police, they are an occupying hostile army. Later we can discuss the insanity of police wearing masks as they kick your door down at 3:00 am. | ||

My wife teaches at a 4th grade inner city school in Hammond IN. Over the past ten years, the behavior of the kids has become ridiculous. 4th graders mind you, that yell and scream at the teachers, ignore instruction, start fights, steal and on and on. The school district does not punish the kids and it is basically left on the backs of the teachers. The do not expel and very rarely suspend the kids. Most suspensions are class room suspensions that mean they stay in the same class and continue the bad behavior but the teachers once again must deal with it. The teachers have been told that they cannot expel kids because they have been sited as expelling to many black kids. The school is almost 100% black, go figure. Not only are the parents not involved but quite often dispute behavior issues when brought up by the teachers. The school district will always back down let the parents get their way. Most of the kids have no moral compass and do not respect any authority. She has forth grader boys passing notes about raping other 4th grade girls. I hear amazing stories everyday when she comes home and cannot believe this is going on in the 4th grade. We have a bunch of feral kids coming up that have no respect or desire to be educated. Believe it not, the teachers are going to training that is basically telling them that it just is how male black kids act and the teachers should just ignore it as it is part of their culture! Unbelievable. You have heard about the war on women, I believe it to be an assault on teachers (urban at least) This is what is coming down the pike with the young kids coming. The third grade teachers are saying the the next group is the worse yet. My wife plans on quitting the teaching profession at the end of this year. All problems are blamed on the teachers and all problems are resolved by piling more and more paperwork on them. It really is sad. So many of the kids are lost causes. It will not get any easier on the police in those areas in the upcoming years. Just remember, that is how black male are, it is part of their culture! Please do not think that this is the rambling of a racist. We most defiantly are not. She has spent many years in the urban schools because she wanted to help the kids. It is just a mess with no end in sight. | ||

Public schools aren't helping. First we took away the school's right to discipline, and then we took away the parent's right to, in any meaningful way, punish their own kids. We've taught kids that if mommy spanks them, they should call the police or tell their school counselor so mommy can be arrested for child abuse, or at least have CPS break down her door and take her kids away. And this is the predictable result. | ||

In the past tens years with this district, my wife has taken only a few sick days. Her and most all of the other teachers not take them when ever thy can. Most every teacher at the school believe that they are being thrown under the bus She spend almost every weekend generating unless and reports that everybody knows is just to cover the butts of the school administrators. Only to look forward to chaos starting again in Monday knowing the teachers will get no support from the Principle on up. As a matter of fact, they were direct to send students to the office only after filling out a special form that only she can provide. Coming from the business world, it is almost comical. I guess it is type of a government organization, don't fix the problem, blame it on everybody else and cover your own butt. Unfortunately, PC does not allow the schools to get rid of the primary trouble makers. They remain in the classes allowing them to degenerate the atmosphere and make it impossible for the others to learn. Only major changes within the community will stop the decay. | ||

The social dynamics and the racial makeup of the country are going to change radically. Government doesn't fix problems. Government creates dependents and then promises them more benefits to control them. Government will protect the victim, dependent class from ridicule, from accurate portrayal, from responsibility. It's why successful minorities, particularly conservative successful minorities, are a direct threat. In fact, the under class is conditioned to ridicule success. The risk here is the hand being overplayed. During the 60's with MLK, white people could look at black people and say "that could be me, that could be my family, they are like me". MLK knew that any other action would have the opposite effect. When you see mobs of black people "flash mobbing" a store, burning down a CVS, looting a shoe store, you don't think "that could be me, the are like me". It instantly turns "we" into "us" and "them". Progressives always talk "we" but their intentions and actions are ALWAYS "us" and "them". | ||

I'm awaiting the day some Congressman tells his employer ( a tax paying citizen ) who is black, that he no longer needs his support now that there are a few million new Illegal Immigrant Voters in his district. I often ask people who support the D party, the Party of the Klan, of Jim Crow, and the Party that deliberately presided over the previous most shameful act in American History, the Abandonment of an Ally in Vietnam ( and now Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Britain, Canada, Yemen, Ukraine, Europe, Australia, Japan... hold on, they haven't abandoned Japan, yet. ) the following question.... If you were a racist who hated and resented the descendants of your former slaves, and wanted to destroy their families, drive them from their churches, get up to a 70% illegitimacy rate, and con them into killing millions of their own babies in government sponsored abortion mills. The good news is that America has a lot of great H1B and green card holders who are incredibly talented. The Indians and Chinese will make great Americans and will continue the 200+ year tradition of welcoming deserving immigrants to our country. I constantly ask them to become American citizens. We don't need any more ditch diggers. We have enough lazy Americans who refuse to do that job. That needs to change. | ||

The most notable reaction as my wife explained the tragedy, was their laughing at the way the people talked. The kids have very little empathy for others. They have very little basic knowledge of things outside of their little world and really do not care to know. | ||

Thats funny! I have dug ditches for money too. I was cheaper than renting the ditch digger (no joke!). The public school situation is really bad, and it is really bad everywhere, even in top ranked suburban schools. Basically, you can't kick kids out for anything. Including kids that are clearly and completely mentally ill. Picture a kindergarten kid who is clearly bat^&^% crazy, and who has assaulted fellow students (flat out assault) maybe 10+ times, and assaulted teachers 10+ times. Does the school remove them from a situation where they are clearly a danger to everyone around them? No. They hire another "teacher", who's only job is to basically sit on this kid 1:1 for the entire day to try and keep him from hurting other kids (they gave up on keeping him from destroying property, so he would get away enough to go trash a room a few times a month before they could safely get him back under control). Seriously. It took almost a full year of this behavior before the kid could be expelled and legally prevented from returning from school. | ||

I have a story, a recent story, to share that pertains to youth and ditches. For 14 months I've been on a remote project preparing for a major construction initiative that will commence in the next 30 days. I've worked out of a truck and, more recently, an unheated trailer . . . . yep, with not bathroom on those -11oF days. I didn't mind being alone and confess a peaceful affinity for not having cellphone service and gauging my day, in part, on the number of wildlife I see. I found comfort having my Globestar Sat phone if I ever needed it. In the past months, as the project grew near, my young cohorts bought boots and came to visit. The first day they were there . . . they were frantic . . NO INTERNET . . no texting . . no cellphone . no Google. The humanity. Finally, . . . we get the folks to come install a DSL line. On the day the technician did the install I had 3 of my mentees in residence . . . and commented, as they frantically tried to establish a MiFi connection on their tablets . . that it looked like a Starbuck's Hotspot. In walks the technician . . . "it's all done but it's underground cable and I can't complete the connection until I have a trench to bury the cable". Pandamonium ensued as the group frantically held their MiFi units up trying to establish a connect . . . "we won;t have a contractor here for 6 weeks" . . . "perhaps we can do a spot buy on a BPA .. blanket purchase order" . . "can we get the local utility to do it on an intracompany account" . . they were scrambling. As the trio say, face to keyboard, I walked out to my beater truck . . . .put on my old gloves, grabbed a puck and a 5' shovel and went to work. I walked back in, to the tap-tap-tapping trio, about 20 minutes later and told the technician . . "put your cable in". They were aghast. I hadn't filed a work permit, I hadn't conducted a safety briefing and I had done "union work". "How" . . one of them said "did you do that?". "An old Indian trick", was my reply. Self sufficiency is at greater risk of extinction than the Snail Darter and Indiana Long Eared Bat. We've become compartmentalized and trained to believe that digging ditches and MENSA membership are mutually exclusive. . . . that folks with an Ivy League education have other people do that stuff. It's a shame. I've started writing about it and tossed my hat back into the ring of the self-employed. I refuse, vacillating between retiring and working, to end my career as one of these follow the pack clones. Hopefully . . . as the project progresses I'll not have to fall back on any of my other talents such as jackhammers, being a crack operator on a crane of D8N Cat . . . and even I am hoping I don't get called on to go "long line" (as opposed to working off the platform on the side of the helo) to do a splice on an energized 345kV line . . . But . . . .it's damn nice to know you can. | ||

Court, The above is why I will only hire engineers that have mechanical hobbies. Most of my engineers rebuild classic cars or do track days with the fast cars. Two of my sales reps restores old Porches and does track days in his track Audi. I seem to be the only nut on a motorcycle. There are some very smart engineers graduating that can not look a Ryerson steel catalog and design a simple pipe support to save their lives. I started out as a boiler maker welder in a previous life and to this day I can still put down a pretty good weld and still love to TIG and can build a race bike from the ground up. It helps me keep my sanity. Working with commercial nuclear utilities can be very trying. Even my wife has finally figured out the garage projects are what keep me healthy. Perhaps I should require new engineers to work in my track pit as a requirement of employment. |
