From the Australian Motorcycle News link: EBR: Receivership is part of the plan! Apr 22, 2015 News AMCN can confirm EBR falling under receivership was all part of a carefully planned strategy for Indian giant and 49.2 percent part-owner Hero MotoCorp to gain full control of the company. As reported by AMCN, Erik Buell’s company EBR went into receivership last Wednesday, is now bankrupt, and under the control of a court-appointed liquidator. However, all is not what it seems. Don’t miss next week’s issue of Australian Motorcycle News for all the dirty laundry as to why the world’s biggest motorcycle maker decided this was the best way forward, on sale Thursday 30 April. |

It just goes to show that an event like this brings out every nut case with a keyboard and a modem. I suspect time and tide will shine lots of light. |

For those who question why Erik sold 49% of EBR to Hero in the first place, the reason seems pretty obvious to me. Erik undoubtedly realized that the market for $15-$18K "boutique" motorcycles was limited enough that it would probably not be able to support his company long enough for it to develop and produce more-widely-appealing motorcycles--the bread and butter that would be priced within the reach of common motorcyclists, have attributes appealing to those riders to ensure strong sales, and be cheap enough to build so that EBR could make a livable profit. Hero's cash infusion gave EBR some much-needed breathing room to bridge the gap between the high-dollar bikes and the pedestrian ones that would help EBR become self-sufficient. That funding went away, and EBR essentially fast forwarded into what would have eventually happened anyway, had a third party not provided some much-needed capital. I may be barking up the wrong tree, but I am pretty confident that I'm not. Will Hero vie for complete ownership of EBR? That depends on whether or not Hero has already gotten most or all of what it wanted from EBR. If not, then I bet it aims to turn 49% into 100%. |

The Ragged Edge trailer explains Erik's decision to race first. Or at least partially. |

"Building there own engine when no less than premier supplier Rotax would supply it was a questionable move too." I gave the article serious consideration until the author couldn't figure out which 'there' to use. I'm sorry, but in my mind, that speaks volumes about a person's mental acuity. Everything else they have to say is suspect. Yeah, I know, grammar Nazi. If you're publishing your work, get it right. Also, I think the premise that Rotax would have assembled this engine for EBR is suspect. They only built a couple of parts for it in house. Final assembly of a low volume engine, largely made of outsourced parts, is probably not something they would consider taking on. |

"Editing" on the internet is a lost art... if it ever existed in the first place. I read some "news" sites that are SO bad it makes my head hurt... (Message edited by jaimec on April 29, 2015) |

I noticed that author basically states that 2-stroke diesels for light aircraft (being developed by another Wisconsin company that got EB-5 money) are a looney idea. That seems genius to me, so she strikes out both for grammar and technological vision in my book. (Message edited by Hughlysses on April 29, 2015) |

Been in contact with a really good, local Wisconsin bankruptcy attorney, and she's relayed some good information to me with regards to preserving our claims and interests as owners, feel free to shoot me a message if you'd like to know more. |

BTW- it's now Thursday, April 30th in Australia. I wonder if Australian Motorcycle News followed through with their promised expose on Hero's alleged role in EBR's predicament in this week's edition? Nothing further on their site at this point. |

BTW- I don't know if it makes a hill of beans, but somebody on Facebook suggested adding the hashtag #saveEBR to any EBR-related posts. It doesn't seem like more publicity could hurt at this point. |

A small consolation but I sure am glad to see gearhead girl get dropped on her head for claiming EBR had received the additional 20 million and squandered it. Kind of hard to carry out a 45 million dollar plan with 25 million dollars. |

Saw that RRW article. Kinda/sorta explains things. If they (HERO) forced EBR to go into this bankruptcy in order to buy controlling interest that Erik was unwilling to sell them... that's a different form of evil altogether. |

I mean, earlier assertions of Indian ruthlessness aside, this is a special form of nefariousness. To get a firm to develop a new line of products for you, then not pay them, and try to steal their company after your cheating lies make them bankrupt, almost makes me wish Erik could somehow sabotage Hero from ever being able to sell in this country. |

Hero reportedly is having difficulty in getting technology partners to help it develop higher-end, more profitable models with more sophisticated electronics. DUH... f***ing over your business partners isn't going to help your situation. |
