I REALLY liked the 1190SX I looked at last year. The only thing dissuading me from purchasing at the time was the "Clutch designed by Joe Weider." Maybe not an issue in the vast parts of the country where "Bumper to bumper traffic" is something they see on the news, but it is too much a part of every day life here for me to consider. Too bad it never got addressed. I just hope that they don't take as long to "come back" as Indian did... |

I have 3 brand new EBRs sitting on my showroom right now and I don't know what to do with them. 2 are paid for but I do not have the paperwork and one I have not paid for. Nobody is answering the phones at EBR. |

It did get addressed, the 2015 models have lighter pull (similar to 1125), and there was a free retrofit kit for 2014s. |

I don't know what to say. This news makes me sad, but there seems to be reason for hope, is the undercurrent that I'm feeling. Didn't Harley - Davidson go through a similar scenario back in 1984 or so? They were literally on the eve of filing for bankruptcy, when the financing came through? |

There are LOTS of possible good scenarios. This could end up great. |

Nope. Thankfully my better half hates motorcycles. I feel sorry for dudes that are forced to ride 2 up. AS far as that POS Harley, I would much sooner quit riding than ride a Harley. Even the Harley radio commercials make me quesy. |

Froggy, That bottom photo is probably a Honda, sure isn't a Harley. Anyways, I am shocked over this EBR demise news. I remember discussing a month or two or three ago about Erik being indulgent only building these expensive crotch rockets and stunt type bikes. No real market for these bikes as can be seen by the news today. I wonder how hard it would be to keep an 1190SX running for the long term?? Sure would have sucked big time to have bought an RX or SX last week. We bought a used XB1200 less than 2 weeks before Harley shut down Buell in 2009. That was probably a 2 grand poke in the wazoo to me. Bike still runs just fine though, but Harley still keeps parts available. Do you suppose American Sportbike will carry any EBR parts or even have the desire? If Hero wants the whole pie then certainly they can have it now for a fraction of what it was worth when they expressed interest before. |

Guys, relax, the article is likely just a big joke. I mean, read the article, EBR had "been doing well on the racing circuit" We all know that aint true (look at WSBK where their efforts lie), so why jump to conclusions about the rest... on a serious level, We've survived one shut down already, right? IF, and im saying IF, this is a EBR shut down then big deal, things will come back around and it'll be Ok. Maybe (again, this goes back to the IF they close down) it'll come back under a new name, but I am sure the EBR owners will be fine, just as we Buell owners are fine. Parts are still out there, people make parts (like Twin Cycles), it'll be alright. Companies like Vincent have been gone for DECADES and the bikes are still being ridden. We'll be ok Also, the title sucks. Erik Buell Racing racing to close... a bit redundant, yeah? |

"AS far as that POS Harley, I would much sooner quit riding than ride a Harley." Yeah that bike is such a POS Harley that its not EVEN a Harley, but a clone of one...#lamesauce Not every cruiser is a HD, you know that, right? And if you would rather quit riding than ride a Harley then I would have to question how much of a biker you really are. Two wheels are two wheels |

Court says there are LOTS of possible good scenarios. I find that impossible to believe. Things would not have progressed to this level of shiite had there been any real way around it. I think Erik loves to be autonomous but selling expensive bikes in this iffy economy really is a nut too tough to crack. I'm off to check the Dillon Brother's Website to see how many 1190's are sitting on their floor. There are 3 RX and 2 SX. (Message edited by electraglider_1997 on April 15, 2015) |

Remember when Harley paid 109 million for MV Agusta in 2008 and then gave ownership back to MV Agusta for $1 in Oct 2009. At that same time they shiite canned Buell.Too bad that Buell wasn't given the same opportunity as MV Agusta. |

Can't see Polaris being interested in EBR. Polaris makes their own engines and EBR bikes use Rotax. Don't see a fit there at all. |

I'd never waste $18k on an even bigger turd Harley! Good thing, because a bike similar to the one in the picture from HD would be closer to $25,000 on the low side. No, in fact the bike in my picture is a Kawasaki which always has been and will always be superior to any Harley product. (Message edited by pwnzor on April 15, 2015) |

One thing I never did understand about the EBR/Hero alliance is that the chasm between what EBR is producing and what Hero is producing seems just as large as the chasm between Buell and HD. I know my local dealer seemed to see this also, and once joked with me about selling bikes made in India. Hero bikes really wouldn't sell with most of his clientele. Hoping for the best out of this, but I'm not seeing it today. Glad to hear that Court can see it though. He's far more involved than I am. |

that is a BS statement if I ever heard one. Motorcycling is all about carving corners and powering out to hit the next one. Everything else (ie, the ride home on the slab) is just an inconvenience to get to the twisty roads. So you can keep your touring cruiser bikes (whatever brand--sorry I wasn't able to distinguish the fake Harley pictured LOL) because I would MUCH sooner quit riding than ride an overweight, underpowered motorcycle with no ground clearance or handling capability. Sorry cruisers are just lame. |

Awwww, that sucks!!!!! Just when the AX was looking sooooooo close. But, let's not forget who it REALLY sucks for...the 126 (+) employees that work hard and do a great job every day and need a pay check. Erik and the Elves: I can't even begin to comprehend the mixed emotions you have go to be feeling. My words are remarkably inadequate , but best of luck and I wish you all the best! There are LOTS of possible good scenarios. This could end up great. 2009 just called - they want their pep talk back. Yeah, I've heard that one before. Trouble is, I'm 5 years older than I was then and even if my patience was holding up, my age isn't. At any rate there are lots of great motorcycles out there and I only need to pick one (or two). I'm not happy to hear the bad news for EBR but it was going to be difficult even under the best of circumstances. |
