Could it be they need to sell bikes people can and want to buy that have the same appeal that the first ones did? He is certainly a virtuous and remarkable visionary and engineer. But maybe bikes that were a little closer to home. Anyway, I hope Erik gets through this OK. And his employees. |

DAMMIT man! Court, I'm gonna "remind" you to TELL US at least enough to keep our hopes alive for the future of EBR... Erik should be building D/S bikes for the hella-bumpy roads his companies seem to travel most of the time!!! In hindsight, it seems these GREAT bikes never did sell like hotcakes, in a SUPER competitive marketplace, with thin margins. I sure hope for and wish for the best for Erik and the Elves going forward. |

If they are seeking protection under Wisconsin's Chapter 128, that means they are seeking to fend off creditors and interest until they can sell the assets in order to pay said creditors off. Technically it isn't bankruptcy in the strictest sense. It does let the new owner start fresh without any debt from the previous company. My trouble is they could have appointed and operating agent and held on to their employees and continued to serve customers during the process but they have not. So now anyone with warranty work or waiting on parts is stuck since now there is no one to actually take orders. Not good... |

I hope it works out. Polaris has been buying everything....maybe they can add the bikes to their stables.....they have Indian, Victory, Brammo, and now a sport bike would be cool for them. |

I thought the HERO was going to be bringing their bikes to AMERICA and that ERIK was going to be their distributor, and help with the whole line of bikes. |

maybe HERO wanted the whole thing, 100%, and ERIK did not want that to happen. Without HERO's money, things ground to a stop? Just a thought. |

So perhaps this is a plan to stop current creditors from wreaking havoc long enough to sell the assets to Hero (debt free), and use the money Hero pays to pay off all the outstanding debt. I hope Erik has something left somewhere to eventually retire on. Which means Hero will own EBR. Which to me doesn't seem any worse than HD owning Buell. That could actually be a step forward actually. EBR (and Buell, and BMC) build great machines, but the rest of the company (marketing, distribution, support, etc) never quite seemed to be firing on all cylinders. At this point, I expect I would be more interested in buying a bike from Hero than I would be in buying a bike from HD. (Message edited by reepicheep on April 15, 2015) |

""maybe HERO wanted the whole thing, 100%, and ERIK did not want that to happen. Without HERO's money, things ground to a stop? Just a thought."" This is logical.... ""So perhaps this is a plan to stop current creditors from wreaking havoc long enough to sell the assets to Hero (debt free), and use the money Hero pays to pay off all the outstanding debt."" This is the only other alternative ... SO what is real ?? Scenario 1 or scenario 2 ? |

I might have to go back to Moto Guzzi, they've been going out of business since 1921 |

Well "poop"... This sucks on many levels. I was hoping to save up for an EBR in the coming year. As someone else said, hopefully the 1190's will go on sale cheap enough to buy one. Regardless I wish Erik Buell the best of luck and hope to see a third revival with his ingenuity. You know what they say, third time is the charm. (Message edited by Jj5cool1 on April 15, 2015) |

Everybody in this frantic world of "I want it now!" want an immediate answer to what has happened and I for one have been through much speculation over the years with Erik, Buell and now EBR and I have learned one thing for sure. To be patient. We will learn when the time is right and any speculation and quick decisions on what an individual should do with his Buell or EBR bike would be a huge mistake. Lets just wait and see. I'll be riding my 1125R one way or another until I cannot ride any more. Optimism always beats pessimism and gives hope. Bob |

If you look at the motorcycle market in America how many men do you see over the age of forty riding sport bikes? How many people under the age of forty can afford a 18k sport bike? Even if you discount those observations people are still hesitant to make large purchases on luxury items which is what motorcycles are for the vast majority of people in America. Since the great recession, I've seen several Japanese cycle dealers go out of business in the Mid-Atlantic which tells me even the cheaper bikes aren't selling like they once were. |

I have a great deal of confidence in Erik Buell. He's smart, hard working and as honest as the day is long. He's been through greater challenges. I'm in the "anxious waiting" mode and cheering for Erik & Co. Erik Buell is a winner in every sense. Court |

Hmmm... $18000 for this: or $18000 for this: At my age, with a wife who wants to ride with me... guess where my dollar goes. |

Is one of those rhetorical kinda questions? I would suggest convincing her riding isn't a two person event. Get her own ride or leave you alone. |

All property, plant, and equipment will be bought by Hero, Erik will sell his patients to Hero, and Erik will officially retire and lurk in ears of Hero's engineers. I would guess everyone who owns an EBR will be able to replace the EBR logos with Hero logos and the product will be exactly what Hero will produce along with a full product line that will be sold and built here in the U.S. I would buy a Hero if it has the Buell/EBR technology... |

Exactly. I bought a Ulysses because I thought it would be more comfortable than my 1125CR for my girlfriend on the back. Nope, the 1125 is all day comfortable while the turd motored Ulysses can't be ridden for more than an hour. I'd never waste $18k on an even bigger turd Harley! |
