When a guy shows up at a Las Vegas emergency room on New Year’s Day with severe facial injuries and broken ribs, and gives as an explanation the functional equivalent of “I walked into a doorknob,” it isn’t hard to guess that he ran afoul of mobsters. Yet the national press has studiously averted its eyes from Reid’s condition, and has refused to investigate the cause of his injuries. "Jackie" threatened Rolling Stone that if they started talking with friends or potential attackers she would stop co-operating. They called one person and she stopped returning their calls for two weeks. They wanted the story because it fit a narrative they wanted to convey and willfully refused to abide by even the most basic requirements of journalism. It was journalistic malfeasance. People should be fired. UVA and the fraternity have a case and should sue Rolling Stone. "Jackie" should be sued as a co-defendant. | ||
