Only natural born citizens should be allowed to be president.
Explain to me again why I should give a crap about a Canadian's opinion on this?

Ft_Bastard's little tongue in cheek reference to Obama being Kenyan is just another shot at calling the man out as "black".

So it's racist to acknowledge that we have elected our first black President? I'll let the liberals around here know that. They seem to be quite proud of that racist comment.

BTW, true story... Junior year of HS I was dating a girl from Kenya. I'll just let you figure out for yourself what her "race" was.

What did Aesquire misspell?

Cruz is way more Canadian than Obama is Kenyan, Fat Bastard.

True. Barry didn't visit Kenya until he was a young man seeking a father that abandoned him.

His mother, and I give her credit for this, never ( according to Obama ) bad mouthed his father, instead building him up in a child's mind as a great person with important things to do.

Cruz otoh, lived in Alberta for 4 years, A 4 year old will have absorbed quite a bit of culture, from a very young child's perspective.

Obama spent 4 years in Indonesia, from 6 to 10. I would think that culturally, Obama is more Indonesian than Cruz is Canadian.

From 10 to 18 Barry attended a private prep school in Hawaii. There he absorbed that, um, culture.

Then immersed himself for the rest of his college life doing drugs, hanging out with the radical communists, and absorbing the concepts of the Lie as Means To Power.

If he'd written any Law Reviews in his time as Prez. of The Harvard Law Review, perhaps we'd have a better understanding of his philosophy. Alas, we do not have that insight into his mind, just the Biographies, full of imaginary people and deeds.

So, what did I misspell?

How can I learn how to spell correctly if you accuse me of such, and refuse to tell me? Are you a sadist?

( and I certainly do spell things wrong, from time to time, frequently, in fact.... even worse is my mispronunciation of words I have read but never heard )

Since Cruz is a citizen, and not a naturalized citizen, the government obviously recognizes him as a natural born citizen. Case closed.

GL'r, why so absorbed in the US Presidency??

So by your logic, which is considered wrong by every Constitutional scholar I've read, John McCain is not a natural born American citizen either eh? He was born in Panama. Along with every single baby born of American parents on foreign soil?

So far, there have only be juvenile reasons why Cruz is disliked. Please start a valid debate about Cruz and why you don't support him. I have already given reasons why Cruz is a qualified, Conservative candidate.

Unless you live naked under a rock somewhere, all of us are associated with big banks that received TARP money. The problem with TARP isn't that the banks took it, the problem is that the government offered it.

And in point of fact, I don't think the banks were given a choice in the matter. They pretty much took the money at the point of a metaphorical gun. The government didn't give them an option. I don't know which bailouts where which, but I know that some of the bank "bailouts" were forced on banks under threat of regulatory penalty if they refused. Under some unpleasant and invasive terms.

Its good to look for these things Patches, there is a ton of corruption in government. But don't scratch the surface and then stop thinking, nothing is simple.

"With Trickle-Down Economics That are Proven not to work."

Proven by whom? Progressives who don't understand real world economics?

Seemed to work pretty well for Reagan in the post Carter years. Since the O has left us in worse shape than Carter, perhaps some good old fashioned Reaganomics is exactly what this country needs.

"The problem with TARP isn't that the banks took it, the problem is that the government offered it."

Offered? OK. But it was "an offer they couldn't refuse". They were forced to take it. All of them. So that we the little people, wouldn't know which banks were failing.

At least one didn't touch the money, and almost immediately tried to repay the loan, but the government wouldn't let them.

Don't blame the banks Patches. Blame the government. Also, from what I understand, the money has been repaid, and the government actually made a bit of money off the deal.

All capitalism is "trickle down".

Any economic system not predicated upon this principle isn't capitalism. It's something else.

Unfortunately, Patches, you bring an intellectual butter knife to a gunfight.

You lack any basic understanding of economics.

Or grammar.

You regurgitate the well programmed what with little understanding of the who, how or why.

On top of that you refuse to engage in a conversation regarding your views in relation to that of others. You obfuscate, you avoid.

Let me explain how this will go. You will develop a reputation as being a troll. The long standing members will call you out on it. You will escalate and begin attacking other members rather than debating the issues. You will be reminded of Badweb policies. You will persist. You will get banned.

Either play straight or bow out of conversations where you are unwilling or unable to participate like an adult.

"Your"...... spell check misses that one, being picky back does not elevate the conversation.

To paraphrase a Great Republican.
...judged not on the colour of their skin, but on the content of their character.

Or punctuation. Sometimes it's important, as in contract or law. It was easily understood in this case.

Feel free to politely pick on idiocy.

Patches:

Let me offer this as my personal opinion.

You're not very bright.

But . . there is a silver lining in that you can learn a lot here. Even things you may not agree with can be explained to you by folks who hold views that differ from you own and are well versed and hold cogent thoughts.

Few folks are as diverse as Dave Gess and I when it comes to politics. But I love him like a brother and know he's whip smart and has a heart of gold. When he speaks I listen carefully and often learn. He's always extended the same courtesy to me.

The T.A.R.P thing, let's be clear, had nothing to do with "trickle down", it was more of the Robin Hood mindset.

Like Solyndra and some of the governments other legend failed attempts to move the levers of business . . .it produced some strange unintended consequences.

One that I am aware of . . . . is a family member who was a partner on a golf course that a group of 4 had gone together and purchased near Brownsville, TX. The feds, in an effort to "bail out" loans . . . came to him and offered to settle the loan (which was current and had never been in default) for $0.25 on the dollar.

He wrote them a check immediately and walked away with clear title. He is also worth over $500M. Would you, of someone had a net worth >$500M, offer to let them off the hook on a $10M loan that was being paid on time and per terms?

The government, when it attempts to act as a business, generally does very stupid things.

Buy thee whey . . . you can learn a great deal of gooder grandmer and speeling hear.

I am really excited about the upcoming Republican demolition derby. The thrust and parry of ideas is healthy. Every single potential candidate has strengths. This debate is good for the candidates, good for the Party, and good for America. However, it is only good if every Republican, every moderate, and every sober Democrat comes together and pulls as a team once there is a winner.

The Democrats are not so lucky in that they only have a single candidate who has not accomplished a single thing in her professional career.

Like it or not, it is easy to hate and dismiss everyone, left and right, but the bottom line is that a President will come pooping out of this process.

There's a major "Conservative" radio talk show host that gets all enthusiastic about the guy of the week. Cruz is, obviously, the guy of the week. (gotw)

Then when the gotw has a scandal, or one is manufactured and becomes the dominant talking point among the biased media, the talk show host switches, sometimes seamlessly, to the next gotw.

If I had no memory of the radio show from last week, I'd have no clue that the support was as fickle as it can get.

It's Early Days yet, and a 2 freaking year election cycle is utter madness. We all will have plenty of time to see all of these candidates as babbling fools, on one subject or another.

Anyone who believes polls without knowing the questions and demographics is a fool.

Anyone who believes a poll taken a Year And A Half before the election is kidding himself.

We are at war, on multiple fronts, with multiple ideologies. The Jihadi, Putin, China, all with their own agendas, all hostile to freedom and us.

18 months is a long time in this world for things to be stable.

They won't be.

The talking points of today will be forgotten in the crisis of tomorrow.

Keep an open mind, and clean your filters often.

An open mind without filters, like a computer without anti-viral software, will soon become unresponsive.
