Sunny’s great-uncle, John W. Swackhamer. Killed in Ypres in the last month of the “War to End All Wars” buried in Meuse-Argonne cemetery with over 14,000 of his brothers-in-arms. Steve: That is awesome. We had a bit of a celebration in my class tonight. One of my students is a highly decorated Veteran who served a number of tours in Iraq. He had an black oxford shirt on tonight with a small iteration of his medals, combat wings and decorations. I stopped class and we took 10 minutes and I asked him to come to the lectern and explain what each and every one of the Medals and the various clusters of Oak clusters meant. There were 3 of us who have served in the armed forces and he got a standing ovation from the rest of the class. Time will spent. | ||

Court, great story, inspirational. My family has three generations of warriors represented by displays at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis, Washington: My maternal grandfather (World War I), my father (World War II), and one of my older brothers (Viet Nam). Perhaps some day my son will be honored in such fashion, too (South Korea).   Thank you to ALL veterans. | ||
