>>>>If congress doesn't provide emergency funds then those states can put them on a plane and send them home.

Weel the big o sent the request for funding . . . how do you feel about $1,000 per day to care for an unaccompanied minor?

The guy is an idiot. It's would be more cost effective to send them to Harvard.

They are ILLEGAL.

Put their asses in buses . . . cart them across the border and discharge them.

Simply appearing in the United States does not make it our problem.

Alternatively . . . I'd be inclined to cut off the BILLIONS of foreign aid going to the offending countries until the flood abates.

It's little comfort to see ILLEGALS , protesting en masse, at the gates of The White House today.

But. . . alas . . . I have bad news for them. The big o will be here, screwing with out traffic, hob-mobbing with the 1%er's he so detests.

Yes. . . let's take a look. Let's start with the 18,000 Microsoft employees who, it was announced this morning, are loosing their jobs. Yeah, 30% of the Microsoft workforce.

"...or at least come up with a better solution."

Like enforcing the law and not letting people cross into the country illegally, and deporting them when they do? These laws are already on the books, and already funded. A law that funds and authorizes the construction of more and better fencing has been passed, but no action is being taken to construct it. How about faithfully executing the laws we already have? That would go a long way.

The economy began to tank when Obama was nominated, so it's no surprise that it was tanked when he took office.

Garry . . ya GOTTA be brighter than you are letting on.

When obama took office gas prices were well under $2.00 per gallon. They are now about $4.89 per gallon.

The national debt (which he said GWB was "unpatriotic" for letting it get out of control) was $6.307 trillion on January 20, 2009, the day obama took office. Today it is $17,833,240,389,000.00.

The kid from Chicago who PROMISED (like closing gitmo) he would "cut the national debt in half during the first half of my term in office" .. has in fact . . . tripled it.

You really have to have your head firmly planted where the sun doesn't shine to not see what's going on.

If congress doesn't provide emergency funds then those states can put them on a plane and send them home.

They can't. At least not legally.

Its not a red state problem that we are getting a crazy amount of tornadoes every time it rains in Wis and its not our problem what going on at the borders.

You're right. Red states are not causing your recent weather. Way off topic though.

I'm sure Allen West is for less federal involvement and more state autonomy.

Where the Federal government is not charged with doing things, yes. The Constitution however expressly puts control of the nations borders directly under Federal control. This is why the states can't simply ship the illegals back home as you state. Funny how you are sudden a proponent for states rights on an issue that belongs to the Federal Government. I question your sincerity.

BO has essentially said that our borders are open. Illegals are now streaming across the border, not trying to evade our border patrol, but actually looking for them, to get picked up and taken to a facility that will start them on their path to amnesty. This is the reality of BO's pResidency.

So I will as this yet again... Garry, What do you think is the most important thing that needs to be changed with our immigration policy. A single point shouldn't be so hard to answer.

garryb,

My company, Broadcom (BRCM), announced a month ago that we are shutting down an operation that will affect hundreds of jobs. Those people will likely lose their jobs today or tomorrow before our earnings report. As a result, Broadcom stock has soared from 28 to 38.28 since the announcement. You REALLY need to start educating yourself because I am not seeing a lot of light from you.

Do you really not grasp the basic concepts of inflation Garryb?

If $4 today is worth $2 before, then the stock isn't worth more.

The other basic tenant that you seem unable to grasp is that if I have $10, borrow another $10, set $8 on fire, then claim I have $12, I am a liar. I went from $10 to nothing. $10 of the $12 in my hand is principal on the debt I have, and $2 will be consumed by its interest. I went from $10 to $0.

I do have to applaud Garry's timing. Using Microsoft as a shining example of BO's economy on the same morning that they are announcing slashing their work force by 1/3. Seems fitting.

Garry, some time back we were discussing Keynesian economics and I asked you for the best example of it working. You pointed to the recovery from the great depression. I pointed out that it was the slowest recovery on record that lead to a double dip recession. We are right on track to repeat that as soon as the economic data from Q2 gets finalized.

I have full faith that the first announcement of that data will show slight growth. It will be about a month later that it will be revised downward and show we have officially double dipped.

I'd bet 50 $ on that.

People out of work has gone up every year of this administration. You can argue that the first year was Bush's fault.....or look at the real numbers and see that the economy has gone bad since Pelosi took the gavel.

You also might notice that Obama voted for the last budget ever signed ( by Bush )

We all know the full force of the republican party as well as the tone here has been in blocking or sabotaging all of Obamas initiatives or activities.

No compromises, no doing anything but attacking him.

In spite of that the market is at all time highs, unemployment recovering, and deficit spending trending sharply lower.

I question the patriotism of all who did nothing to enhance the recovery or contribute to it.

I think he is now willing to be a lame duck and after congress suing him, will let congress now sort out these issues that they did nothing but block.

I think it will be interesting to watch.

Done for now

That's funny. BO never compromised on anything with the Republicans. What did he do to fix the economy when he had three thirds of government under Democratic control? He blew the debt up at unprecedented rates and created a failed healthcare system that ensures continued economic woes. The Republicans in the house have passed MANY bills to address the budget and economy, but they die under Harry Reid's gavel. Meanwhile, rather than extend an olive branch to encourage some sort of compromise and progress, BO proudly proclaims that he doesn't need Congress, but will act on his own with his pen and phone.

Stop being a BO apologist. It's really wearing thin. I would welcome honest dialog, but simply having to point out the lies and misrepresentations is getting old.

Much has been made of the unprecedented national debt.

No doubt this is very troubling. Far worse though is the unfunded liabilities.

Now add these two together and look at what each taxpayer owes. Can you pay "your" share? Can your kids? Can their kids?

Court, I've become convinced that Obama, while incompetent at Leadership, is quite good at lying, even though I doubt he understands the basis for his ideology.

I believe he really truly believes, though. His understanding of Revolution Theology is pretty weak, but he doesn't let that bother him, since he long ago figured out that all you have to do is fake it.

And he's right. Since at heart, his religion is one that is fake, based on lies, and based on telling lies, a fellow who can fake it IS A SUCCESS!

He conned enough people to become a multimillionaire without actually having to work for it, didn't he?? To be fair, he did have to give a few speeches, get hold of people who could write inspirational speeches and biographies.

So while the true value of his actual work is an order of magnitude less than say, Tony Robbins, who actually CAN write inspirational stuff, his impact on other people is far greater. This is NOT a good thing. So was Lenin's.

Alas, instead of teaching people to fire walk on hot coals ( Tony's gig ) he tells them to blame others, and promises things he can't deliver.

Gerry.

More people out of work, In America, every year. Want the numbers?

http://www.dol.gov/

http://www.bls.gov/

Need it spoon fed?
I'm not going to cut and paste a huge table here. Too confusing, how about just annual numbers on people "not in the work force"?
aka can't get a job.

Year

2004 223357

2005 226082

2006 228815

2007 231867

2008 233788

2009 235801

2010 237830

2011 239618

2012 243284

2013 245679

Numbers are in Thousands.

It would be better to go back at least 50 years, and note the change from Vietnam, 2001 09 11, and the trend towards outsourcing, but the above adequately shows that I am not making it up.

More people out of work every year of this administration. Every year since Pelosi became Speaker, and, yes a few years before, in the wake of 9/11 and the Clinton Recession. ( I'm honest, that doesn't mean I like the truth )
