I'm sure MSM will include it in the statistics for their "gun violence" reporting.

85% non-compliance. At least people are coming to their senses. If people reacted this way in CA, NY, IL, MA, NJ and others in regards to unconstitutional laws they wouldn't be in the mess they're in.

I visited Honduras several years ago, from my penthouse room I heard many gunshots [ gun fights ] every night, and people screaming.
This was in the capital city, an armed guard was at the door to the hotel 24-7

The residents that had the means lived in walled compounds with razor wire on top, and an armed guard out front.

In a place that was so lovely it was sad to see people forced to live that way.

Chicago has a gun ban how has that worked?
many places in California have bans and restrictions, how does that work in LA, San Diego
New York City?.....

The gun control issue is not about safety its about control.....

Lots of good info here
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_Canada
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crime_in_the_United_S tates
It appears to me Canada's crime varies wildly by province.. it's overall violent crimes more than double that of the USA's but the homicide/murder rate is roughly half. The video below should shed some better light on this subject

Worthy of re-posting..

Other news..

Oh, and by the way.. BYE,BYE Piers Morgan.. He's been canned from CNN due to abysmal ratings (and general disdain?) I haven't heard this mentioned here on QB yet..

Looks to me CNN's a sinking ship in general.. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/2014/03/05/cable- news-ratings-for-tuesday-march-4-2014/242513/

A very bad apple in Law Enforcement.

The guys who joined the police force because in their hearts they are Gestapo are really a very small number.

The percentage of people who murder others is also a very small number, and most violent crime is committed by people who have done so before, so it's the tiny minority that ruin life for the rest of us.

Especially when that tiny minority is looking forward to kicking your door down to steal your stuff, while wearing a mask and waving a gun.

The term is Home Invasion Robbery.

No knock warrants to confiscate peoples guns are just a recipe for getting people killed. Hopefully the guy who's looking forward to kicking in doors, but probably innocent people too. I really hope the authorities will remain smarter than that.

Ares Armor raided by Feds.

Restraining order had gaping hole in it in case of warrant. Some gun-hating judge apparently granted warrant based on false information.

From what I've seen, whether Ares was right or wrong, none of their seized property will be recovered without a major legal battle, and their business will likely be ruined in the ensuing fallout regardless.

http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/2014/03/daniel-zi mmerman/saber-rattling/

quote:

Reader AI writes:

I have the opposite opinion as the reader who wrote in accusing TTAG of “saber rattling” regarding a potential gun confiscation in Connecticut. It is a confiscation drive, after all, even though the “collection” phase hasn’t yet begun. As we all try to understand where the fine line is, and put off the potential for conflict, it is easy to forget the intentions of the Connecticut law. That some would resist was known and embraced by the anti-gun forces who sponsored the law. That innocent citizens would be turned into felons at the stroke of midnight on December 31 was fantasized about by those who see gun owners as inherently evil, untrustworthy people. And as we all know, those aren’t just fringe groups, but include the very people who take a supposedly legally binding oath to protect and defend the Constitution of the United States of America . . .

We’re not winning this war. Sure, we’ve won some battles in both the courts and legislatures around the country, but the war is far from won, and for every trend in our favor, two are going the other way. Today, the front lines are in the land formerly known as The Constitution State.

The reader who complained (for lack of a name, we’ll call him John for now on) compares our struggle to the civil rights movement. Truth be told, gun rights are a civil right, equal to all others — all ten of the Bill of Rights are civil rights. But when measured in popular opinion in certain regions, we know that not to be true. Even among “pro-gun” people, there are many willing to compromise on their gun rights in ways they would not be willing to compromise with free speech, minority rights, women’s rights, etc. (for instance, can you imagine it being legal for a woman to vote for local representatives, but not federal?).

“John” believes that the non-violent methods used by the civil rights movement of the 20th century would work in Connecticut. What he fails to recognize is the civil rights movement was attempting to gain rights previously restricted. Our goals are to maintain rights and prevent their restriction, a fundamental difference.

This distinction is important, because the knowledge of what benefits are conveyed unto a society from greater civil rights is already known where the right exists, whereas in the civil rights movement society largely feared changes, and resisted them. Using violent resistance in such a cause would only have served to increase and justify fears, counteracting the goals of the movement.

So what does that have to do with Connecticut and “not winning the war”? We have on our side everything we should ever need to win this argument once and for all – the Constitution, massive amounts of crime and gun statistics, over 200 years of American history – all things the civil rights movement didn’t have. Yet it doesn’t matter to the typical gun grabber. Why? Because this isn’t a war against people afraid of guns, it’s a war against statism.

That’s what exists in Connecticut today. Not Democrats, but statists. Statists know what they want, and they know what it will take to get it. That’s why they voted for the law they did. That’s why the “free” press is pushing for confiscations using SWAT teams, that’s why police chiefs, by and large, go along with it. Given all that history and evidence that support gun ownership, they don’t ignore it, they fear it as it is a bulwark against their goals. So we can’t use those same facts, those same non-violent methods that John suggests when the statists show up at our door, because they’ve already heard it all.

So is TTAG saber rattling? It’s the same answer as to the question, did the free citizens of Connecticut ask for this fight? Statists around the country have dreamed of the day when they could disarm the public and impose their will, and Connecticut is the first state that appears ready to try it. Unless repealed, this will be the first skirmish in what will be a long series of battles against tyranny. We must use violence when the statists show up at our door, when tyranny knocks, else they will be empowered to go to our neighbor’s door next.

Lives will be lost, but then America always knew there would be the need for good men to die: “The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants”.

Back in the 60's the folk who were the President's mentors & idols were planning the Revolution. They knew that after they had taken control, that they would need to send the stubborn and unenlightened to re-education camps, presumably in the Western desert and that 10's of millions would be resistant to change and have to be eliminated. They accepted that as the price of success.

As have their spiritual brothers in China, Russia, Cuba, etc. etc.

The leftists know that people will die, and they are fine with that. Gotta break some eggs to make an omelette.

It would be wrong of me to suggest that philosophy is appropriate for a response.

To condone the manslaughter of a large portion of a State Legislature, even as a defensive and fully justified measure.... would be illegal and morally wrong.

So I have to urge you not to do it. You must wait until your home is invaded, set on fire, and you have been killed by machine gun fire by masked jack booted thugs.

Of course, that might be a bit too late. But it's the non-violent approach.

On a totally unrelated note:

Once read an alt-history short story about Gandhi resisting the Nazi's take over of India.

They slaughtered his followers, and him. No problem.

Of course Gandhi wasn't a total pacifist, or at least didn't think everyone should be. He did recognize the need for violence to defend yourself. It was his preference to oppose oppression with truth, rather than violence. Hard to argue against using the truth. Many oppressors just don't care about truth. Just look at the lies we've been told by BO. He knew you couldn't keep your insurance, doctor, or hospital. He never skipped a beat. I would have to say that I'm pretty much in agreement with Gandhi's philosophy on violence. I would guess that we might differ slightly on when it becomes necessary, but that's a very situational decision at best.

Interesting bit about some of Gandhi's quotes on guns and violence here. Keep in mind that this is written by the anti-gun/pacifist folks. They do provide a link to what they consider to be misinformation from the other side. I've got a feeling that "truth" lies somewhere in between. I really don't know any gun folks that seem to think that violence is an early option.

So this is all about the BATF claiming that a plastic 80% lower receiver is actually a firearm. When did this happen? Can BATF simply create new laws? This crap has gone insane! Isn't an 80% lower determined by the amount of machining that is left to do? What does that have to do with the material it's made of?

quote:

The ATF has a window of opportunity to respond to Karras. If the two don’t reach an agreement soon, they will both meet in court for a preliminary hearing on March 20.

I guess the BATF just can't wait for the legal wheels to turn. What happened to the court and March 20? Does anyone doubt at this point that our government has turned tyrannical? At this point, even if a judge kicks the BATF in the ass on this, they are certain to keep the stolen list of Ares Armor customers who purchased AR lowers. I can't wait for the harassment of citizens on that list.

All I can say is stay prepared!

Do you remember Cavalry Arms?

They were originally sought for a myriad of charges and were raided with assets, computers, and paperwork seized.

All charges were subsequently dropped except for several firearms allegedly sold to out of state residents illegally.

They lost their FFL and firearms business.

The consensus is that the ATF was originally seeking charges concerning the manufacturing of the lower (seems to be popular these days). The end result was charges based on private sales of a personal collection.

Either way, nobody really knows the truth outside of the company owner and BATF...and the business and many assets were lost in the process.

Ok Gun Guys,

A family member has a AR15, a new one,
issues with the fit of the oe mag, then
feeds in about 2 mags full of ammo and the gun no longer functions semi auto but must be cycled with the "assist?" to load it, or clear it, where do you start looking ?

I suggested cleaning it and checking for broken parts or restricted gas tube, I don't have one of these weapons and know nothing about it, but would like to offer any help I can...
