From Aesquire's link...

quote:

“I am a Liberal Krupp wrote in one post. “A Liberal is not a Democrat, but rather someone who combines political data and theory, extreme leftist views and sarcasm to win any argument while make the opponents feel terrible about themselves. I won every argument but one.

That pretty much sums up my brother-in-law. We just had the annual get together with my wife's siblings last night as a matter of fact. At one point I found myself alone with the two brother-in-laws. Conversation turns to one of them talking about how lucky he was to have great insurance when he had his heart attack last year. I have to agree that he is lucky to have what has been deemed to be a "Cadillac" plan that is largely paid for by his employer. The other brother, the real "liberal one, is currently unemployed, not even wanting to work while he has his extended unemployment, chimes in about how cheap his insurance is going to be under ObamaDontCare. I've been basically banned from getting involved in politics in these get togethers, so I'm playing pretty nice when I ask if he has actually signed up on the government site yet. He hasn't so I ask how he knows his pricing. He says it's from the non-registered part of the government site. I ask if he's heard about the issues regarding the pricing problems that have been documented. I get blank stares from both of them. I mention that I compared the pricing of some plans on the government site to the same plans on the Blue Cross Blue Shield site, and found them to off by hundreds (I documented this earlier in this thread BTW). He counters that because his income is so low right now on unemployment, he will qualify for a big subsidy that will more than make up for any pricing errors. I wonder to myself what his plan is now that it looks like the extended unemployment isn't being renewed next year. I decided it's not worth the dust up and kept my mouth shut.

I did ask the other brother if he knew what plans his company had for when the employer mandate kicks in after 2014. Neither one seemed to have any knowledge about what I was talking about. Being banned from making trouble in these conversations with my in-laws after Thanksgiving 2000 I simply excused myself to get another beer and never returned.

It's incredible to me that older adults that seem to feel that they are informed about what's going on can be so incredibly ignorant about what they are so supportive of. I wish I could understand how you can maintain that level of ignorance, and remain loyal to those who keep you ignorant. It's enough to make your head explode!

At Thanksgiving this year, the unemployed brother-in-law told me explicitly that he had no plans of working as long as he had unemployment benefits available. He was very confident that the extended benefits would be extended again by year end. Of course, in a different conversation he was talking up how strong the economic recovery has been lately. How do you manage to convince yourself that we are having a strong recovery, but will also find it necessary to keep extending unemployment benefits. I am so glad when these holiday gatherings are done for the season. My wife's entire family manages to hold these political beliefs. I've seen if for decades now, and just can not grasp how they maintain these constantly failing ideals.

That video could be my brother-in-law. I noticed that one of the things that he blames the high cost of health care for is that doctors and nurses in the US get paid more than in other countries. This is probably a factor. I wonder if he can maintain that basic economic understanding when discussing if the fry cook at McDonald's should really be paid $15.00 per hour?

I found his understanding of unnecessary cover you ass tests to be interesting. He put MRIs in that category. MRIs are actually a very impressive tool that provides a better quality of care. It can let a surgeon actually KNOW what the pain in a joint is being caused by before opening you up. True, sometimes they will find that surgery is not the solution to your problems with use of an MRI. It is cheaper to simply open you up and take a peek and do what you can to fix the problem. It doesn't give the same level of care though. Also, my wife knows someone in Canada who is in a wheel chair because of hip problems. He's been in the MRI queue for over six months now. Quality of care?

Sifo,
Your wonderful relatives are no surprise at all. There are enthusiastic supporters of Obamacare on this very thread who are incapable of expressing their beliefs because they know they will lose if faced with logic and facts. Since they willingly remain silent, I and others will continue to educate and persuade.

The American People are finally waking up to the danger and tyranny of ProgLiberalism and will begin to wash this Statist scum away. This infection of the Left is nothing shy of Communism.

If Badwebbers don't wake up, there will come a day when Big Brother will proclaim that motorcycling itself is unacceptable to society and must be banned to reduce health care costs. "There Is Still Time, Brother."

I was most impressed that Pajama Boy actually knows that he's a liar.

I know it's repetitive, ( I say this a lot ) but there are a few ( 2 1/2 IMHO, you may know of more ) religions that call for falsehoods as a positive way to get to heaven. When dealing with those people, like Pajama Boy, it makes no difference what the truth is, how much pain they cause you and others, or how many will die as a result of their "firm convictions". They even take joy in personally attacking the character of people they don't know, not just to WIN, but because being a "Liberal ****" is a pathway to heaven they feel over rides all other considerations.... and ironically, many of these people will tell you heaven does not exist.

But that's a philosophical point, and I could be wrong. ( they on the other hand, never, ever are. No matter what the facts are )

What is obvious is that once a few thousand people start getting tax money to pay for the Obamacare mandated Insurance, it's going to be darn near impossible to stop Obamacare.

Because the President feels free to postpone your pain until after the next election cycle, ( and the next, and the next... 3 so far? ) by simply decreeing that this or that part of his signature bill will be delayed, he has a very good shot at making it impossible to return to last years way of life. I speculate that it is already.

I heard a radio conservative ( seriously didn't catch the name ) rant about how the Republican Establishment folk are going to mess up the 2014 Senate races by picking "social conservatives" that will be radical enough to mainstream America to fail. He talked about Georgia? and some loser that has a public anti-evolution rant...

I don't care what odd beliefs you, or I, have about evolution. Standing in front of a Church on TV and saying it's all a lie is not a winning strategy in national politics.

But apparently lying through your teeth about a lot of stuff all the time, is.

No they aren't a surprise. It's frustrating though, simply because I would honestly like to be able to understand their opinion. They refuse to explain, in any rational way, how they manage to conclude that they support any workable ideals. Then I'm told to silence myself because it bad for family relations to have these discussions. They seem to feel free to discuss it right in front of me though. So I turn to the interwebs, hoping to get some understanding from people that I have never met. They too fail to be able to support their ideals in any substantial way. I'm at a loss to simply understand how they come to their conclusions.

This infection of the Left is nothing shy of Communism.

I have to agree with that 100%. I guess the masses supporting this really are just the useful idiots. I expect more from people that I associate with. In recent years I've actually cut my circle of "friends". When the stuff starts hitting the fan, I really hope that they are smart enough to not come knocking on my door. They will find themselves turned away in no uncertain terms.

Five down, three to go....until it is Hillary's turn to fiddle. After she and her fellow Communists completely gut our country, the Reign of Terror begins, American style and it is not going to be pretty. Jefferson saw this coming. After that, the First American Emperor restores order....unless YOU wake up NOW and return America back to its Conservative roots and greatness.

If you and your pocketbook have been deceived by Obamacare, get mad. Every Democrat deserves to be thrown out as they knowingly and willingly did this to YOU.

"Knowingly" is a bit of a stretch. None of them read it. We joke about that, but to a great degree, it is the truth. They had no idea what was in it (even after they passed it so they could find out what was in it).

Remember the D's surprise when policies were being canceled? They had no idea that the law would do that, even though anyone who had read the bill could have told them that it would. Hell, Brian has been beating that drum on badweb for over a year. It should have come as no surprise to anyone.

No excuse though. Through ignorance or design, they've screwed us all, and the D's own this cluster lock, stock, and barrel.

As much I as I do enjoy the "I told you so" - it does not solve the problem.

People need to get out of the idea that
1) Government is the answer
2) Government 'cares'
3) Government is looking out for the public
4) Government is 'representative'

When you realize this is not the Republic as it was founded - you should be either, mad or scared.
I vascillate between the two.

And to that same point... people need to get out of the idea that there is currently any good solution to the medical system problem.

People reject the free market solution because it leaves people uncovered unless they can raise above their current circumstance, which I personally think is a tragedy.

But then they replace it with a government solution, which leaves people uncovered and at the point of a gun, which is a tyranny and tragedy.

I did a comparative advantage paper on international health care programs compared to ours. I found that Singapore was the best bet; followed by Costa Rico; There are alternatives out there- that are stable, affective, cost efficient and market driven.

Nobody in charge wants to hear about them.

You are welcome.
Honestly - if the market pushes back and large numbers fail to enroll, and change their IRS deductions for paycheck with-holdings
we do two great things
1)a loud declaration that we do not want this thing
2) cut, starve, and dwindle the constant supply of money into the IRS

(you will have to pay it later- but there is nothing that says they can repeatedly rob your paycheck at every instance - go declare EXEMPT and feed them only once)

What kind of man, indeed?

A New Year and old problems
By: Thomas Sowell 12/31/2013

excerpt:
What ObamaCare has done, thanks to Chief Justice Roberts’ Supreme Court decision, is reduce us all from free citizens to cowed subjects, whom the federal government can order around in our own personal lives, in defiance of the 10th Amendment and all the other protections of our freedom in the Constitution of the United States.

ObamaCare is more than a medical problem, though there are predictable medical problems — and even catastrophes — that will unfold in the course of 2014 and beyond. Our betters have now been empowered to run our lives, with whatever combination of arrogance and incompetence they may have, or however much they lie.

The challenges ahead are much clearer than what our responses will be. Perhaps the most hopeful sign is that increasing numbers of people seem to have finally — after nearly five long years — begun to see Barack Obama for what he is, rather than for what he seemed to be, when judged by his image and rhetoric.

What kind of man would blithely disrupt the medical care of millions of Americans, and then repeatedly lie to them with glib assurances that they could keep their doctors or health insurance if they wanted to?

What kind of man would set up a system in which people would be forced by law to risk their life savings, because they had to divulge their financial identification numbers to strangers who could turn out to be convicted felons?

Hey, we got rid of Prohibition and it was a Constitutional Amendment.

GOP Must Strike While ObamaCare Iron Is Hot
By David Limbaugh · Dec. 31, 2013

excerpts:

quote:

Despite Obama's repeated lies, the cancellations were premeditated in order to compel people to obtain more expensive plans through the federal website – to cover things they aren't even at risk for – and for the federal government to be able to use the premium windfalls to subsidize other people's health insurance costs. Obamacare was never about improving access to health care, reducing health care costs or improving the quality of care. It was an elaborate government-imposed Ponzi scheme for wealth redistribution and to establish another behemoth federal infrastructure for the government to control never-before-imagined aspects of our everyday lives.

quote:

When I said Republicans should strike while the iron is hot, I meant they need to hammer Obama daily for the damage he's causing to the American people on Obamacare alone. They need to feed Americans the facts as relentlessly as Obama has campaigned to force-feed us this nightmare.

And they need to immediately pass in the House, with great fanfare, a comprehensive health care reform bill containing the myriad market-based reforms they've proposed over the past few years – from tort reform to ending discriminatory tax treatment for employer-provided plans to expanding health savings accounts to reducing government mandates to ending prohibition on consumers crossing state lines to buy insurance to supporting retail health clinics to providing vouchers for the working poor and chronically uninsured.

Passing such a bill would not keep Obama from lying that Republicans have no alternative plan, but it would give them something tangible with which to counter and showcase his lie.

quote:

Republicans have much work to do. We are in a war for the survival of the country as we know it, and in order to save it, we need to fight with the same relentless intensity as Obama and his forces are fighting to destroy it.

Dusting off an oldie but goodie from the other blogs I do.

October 29, 2010 at 7:00pm

Today's hint on how much you will enjoy the new Health Care bill. On BY1 (1/1/2014) Insurance companies will not be able to raise premiums, copays, deductibles, change levels of coverage, adjust drug formularies, any Life time limits, or annual coverage limitations until BY5 (1/1/2019) Great Idea huh?

How do you feel if your boss said NO to a raise for the next 5 years, regardless of your performance, cost of living, or inflation. Enjoy Title 1, Subtitle 101, sub sections a-b READ the bill, you know your legislator didnt.

Obamacare is a travesty
Forced down our throats by his majesty.
Lied to us from the very first day
Just take a pain pill and go away.

Liberals continue to lie to us
And says Obamacare is a definite must.
A ‘death panel’ does not truly exist
Another LIE from this socialist.

Another LIE we all can see
That it will cost less for you and me.
Prices have doubled and tripled for us
Continued LIES from this socialist.

Doctors are leaving due to this mess
Causing the elderly and all undue stress.
Millions have lost their health care plan
Due to the LIES from this corrupt man.

America no longer the ‘land of the free’
Due to Obama and the dem party !
The dem party ceased to exist
Replaced with the lies of socialists !!

Have we become sheep in this once great land
To be dictated too by a corrupt socialist man?
Millions need to descend on DC
Take America back from this tyranny !

Yep, the website is the easy part...

Obamacare Contractor Blamed for Slow Medicare Payments to Hospitals

quote:

According to the CEO Jason Leday, more than 150 employees haven't been paid in nearly a month.

"I understand that they have children and a house payment, bills. Not getting paid is wow," nearby resident Theresa Gutierrez said.

The hospital is strapped for cash not because its not making money, but because Leday says a new Medicare payment facilitator named Novitas Solutions is taking too way long to pay out Medicare claims to the hospital.

Leday says he's owed nearly $3 million in payments from Medicare and can't make payroll...

The Texas Medical Association says they are familiar with complaints like this one regarding the medicare payment facilitator- and a representative told us smaller community hospitals like this one are in similar situations.

Does anyone expect the harder parts to go well?

All Badwebbers should get behind Krauthammer's idea. As a taxpayer, do YOU really want to pay for a bailout in addition to the high deductibles and high premiums that are being foist on you? Or would you rather help the economy by buying a motorcycle?

Please read the entire column. WE can kill this untenable un-American beast.

Stop the Bailout -- Now
By Charles Krauthammer · Jan. 3, 2014

excerpts:

quote:

First order of business for the returning Congress: The No Bailout for Insurance Companies Act of 2014.

Make it one line long: “Sections 1341 and 1342 of the Affordable Care Act are hereby repealed.”

End of bill. End of bailout. End of story.

quote:

Such a bill would be overwhelmingly popular because Americans hate fat-cat bailouts of any kind. Why should their tax dollars be spent not only saving giant insurers but also rescuing this unworkable, unbalanced, unstable, unpopular money-pit of a health care scheme?

quote:

Do you really think vulnerable Democrats up for re-election will vote for a bailout? And who better to slay Obamacare than a Democratic Senate – liberalism repudiating its most important creation of the last 50 years.

quote:

Who can argue with no bailout? Let the Senate Democrats decide – support the bailout and lose the Senate. Or oppose the bailout and bury Obamacare.

Happy New Year.

The infighting must continue until one or the other prevail. It's time to pick your side and fight for what's right. It's a far better fight than what we've had in recent decades, which boils down to Plan A (go broke by Friday) or Plan B (go broke by Thursday). It's time to stop feathering the nest with the fortune of future generations. That's just incredibly immoral.
