This is a more appropriate thread to remember 9/11 than what was spewed on BW this morning.

BTW: Most of you missed it but Court left a poignant post on that other thread which he subsequently erased.

Never Forget.

I was at work, building a power plant. The weather was similar to today- nearly perfect. The general superintendent called an emergency meeting of all personnel on the site. He explained what had happened and we were very quiet after that. I remember looking to the west often during the rest of the day, half expecting to see some kind of air attack on the ordinance depot about 1.75 miles out.

I know this event has done much to bring us together since and it makes me proud to be an American but I'm saddened that so much of our freedom has been lost. I read a book when I was young where the subject was a terrorist attack. Don't remember the name of it but the jist of it was that once that pandora's box was opened, it can't be closed. The effects of trying to protect folks from terrorism are complex and powerful. It is pure evil.

Freshly laid off from the place I'd worked at, at home looking for somewhere new to land and talking with my wife. I remember the news broke and it was like watching a horror movie.

A couple of the images I saved from 2001.

Years ago I stood atop one of those towers,
I still recall it to this day.

I was near Augusta GA working when word of the attack came in, the clients staff passed the hat for a TV and after getting it to work in the building we watched in horror....

I feared for my wife (at that time) April and my daughter Dawn. We lived about 30 miles from the South Port Nuclear Power plant, The concern was that the terrorists would try to crash a jet into the station and breach the reactor, They stayed home I worried most of the day until I knew the sky was empty.

I remember, I can't imagine what Court and others who had friends and family in those buildings, felt as the towers fell.

We have all felt something for the departed and those who have lost loved ones.
The anger, the pain and sadness.

Most of the cowards who have done this are dead, including bi-ladhen,

To all of our first responders and our military well done, we remember and salute you for work well done.

To the ones lost in NYC The Pentagon, and the Heroes of FLT 93

We Remember.............

I was sleeping here in Chicago when it happened. I had taken the Day off using my Bday Holliday (13th) to go see the Cubs play I believe the Reds. The phone rang and it was my mom. You know the rest..... I listened to A Jackson " where were you when the world stopped turning" today and my eyes welled up. I wonder if that will ever change.
