I remember hearing several of y'all bemoaning the demise of the Twinkie, well they're back.

Let me know when the Sno Balls come out.

The good news is Kim Jong Un is going to be happier now!

moon pies? are they those 3/4" round cake sandwich with the vanilla cream filler? Whole Foods has a version that's pretty good too!!

Go to an industrial park and look for almost any lunch truck.

graham crackers and marshmallow covered in a chocolate shell. Sometimes the shell is flavored differently.

http://www.moonpie.com/

Moonpies are not Hostess, so are still, and have been, available.

If you haven't tried this yet..... go Southern Tradition and try Moonpie ( the Original version ) with Dr. Pepper. Sugar overload and a surprising taste combo. ( no need to dip, just munch and swig )

There may be "more healthy" versions from other places, but the taste just is not the same.

In Hostess, I do have a weakness for the Ding Dong & Ho Ho, BUT the Snoball in all it's seasonal color, marshmallow and coconut, The CupCake, and Beefsteak Rye bread are what I miss.

Little Debbie's version of the cupcake isn't the same, nor are all the "cheapo" brands found in bodegas and gas stations.

I actually almost never eat Twinkies. If it's not Chocolate, the Aztec Food Of The Gods, it's not awesome enough for me. ( in sweet things.... Flatiron Steaks & such are a different thing..... )

I can walk by plates of cannolis, puff pastry, rock candy..... But Chocolate!

It's supposed to be an RC cola and a moon pie but I prefer Dr. Pepper too.

I'm a pepper, he's a pepper, she's a pepper...

The RC/Dr. Pepper thing seems to be a State by State thing...... I only learned about it as an adult, and in New York, so I could be wrong. It's a heck of a sweet rush, either way.

...i do know that Moon Pies are not a Hostess thing, but boy did i put down a heck of a lot of those back in my teen years(you could get them all over). Its just like pineapple grapefruit juice that the stores use to have....couldn't keep enough in our house.I was the main reason for it....drank it by the gallons.....tasted great.Miss that too.I have tried to get the right combo by mixing the two together with no real success. The Wal Marts around here have the Hostess lines in their stores(Western Nevada).
