That looks like $ERIOU$ fun! Where is the the footage from the Area 51 inspired chopper? Do any r/c plane guys ever stage dogfights (sans projectiles)?

The jet was my favorite; I am impressed by it's air speed and sound. Without reference, it looks and sounds like the big boys.

You bet. Sometimes with streamers to cut. Sometimes simply bare air planes. It's actually pretty hard to hit another air plane, unless of course, you're just out flying around in the open sky with another plane in the air just flying around it the open sky.

Reminds me of when we used to fly RC in the middle of what is now the "Googleplex".
We flew some giant scale stuff but no jets.
Last time I looked on Google Earth the dirt parking lot we flew from is still there!
I doubt if they still fly there.

Do all R/C pilots land by taking three large hops and then head for the tall grass?

Or is that just the Pebble Creek style?

That's not the way we did it when I was getting my glider rating, but of course, that was years ago, and I didn't actually own the glider.

No, I can land in 20 ' or so. The guy with the 100 lb bi-plane was new to the field and didn't know the landmarks to set-up the final!

When I was a kid we didn't have RC.
We had tethered planes, and we did the ribbon aerial fights too.
You'd both stand side by side and about the only way to get the other guy's ribbon was to loop and come up behind them.
Things sure have come a long way since then!

Still got your U-Reely, ol' buddy?

I'll never forget when my brother let me use his for the first time: was a real shame that I looped his plane and augured in. He was mad as the dickens.

Course back in those day, the planes were just balsa and paper, so they could be endlessly and economically repaired.

Can still remember the smell of Testor's dope. Probably illegal now.

I still have the whole set up ... somewhere, I think it's at my Mom's.
Yeah the old airplane glue was outlawed in the 70's.
Remember the all the hype over huffing glue?
They replaced it with something that was heavyern anything, and worked as well as Elmer's on glass.

Great video. Went to the MARRC field this month and watched the locals fly. My 13 year old was not as impressed as me. I learned on control line planes.

Joe Smith! Damn. Some of those negative G moves would just simply kill the pilot in a real plane.

"This is my Boom Stick!" Sweet! darn it, now I want to go get one....

I flew a lot of U control combat & aerobatics, ended up with a preference for silhouette designs over complex pretty ones. Plywood Planks and laminated balsa with simple paint & stupid life spans.

F22raptor, I've flown ultralights with smaller engines. DAmn! Any video on that one?
