Sounds like there's a distinct possibility of some very interesting future developments at both Indian and Victory:

I wasn't going to wait for their stupid dancing unicorn crap to load, or suffer through some annoying flash site...

Any summary you want to share?

Hmm, I didn't see that part.

He alludes to there being a good possibility of an Indian Scout in the near future, and other engine configurations for future Indians. He also says something to the effect of "Victory is way overdue for a new engine design", implying that's in the works.

What I get from the article is that they just want to be another Harley Davidson with overpriced overweight underwhelming bikes with motors that would be perfect if it was engineered in the Mesozoic period. Lame.

This statement does not go along with Froggy's take: "...I'd like to see Indian stretching far beyond its classic cruiser heritage, and getting into being technically innovative, and going into different market segments."

That whole paragraph that statement was from is what tells me they currently don't have any interest outside the assless chaps and leather tassels market. Also statements that they didn't care about performance, wanting to stick with "heritage" seal the deal.

It's a business, not a vision. The Harley crowd has to be bored by now. Indians will fill the bill. And Victory too, if anybody really wants to go there.

Saw a couple of Visions heading down the highway the other day... their weirdness seems to be growing on me.

It seems to me like this means there's a good chance they'll do something other than cruisers with Victory. They market Indian at the Harley crowd and go another direction with Victory.

Unfortunately I have seen the whole Indian Saga since 1992 when the start of things began to make fake bikes with Harley motors. I think the whole story is still a joke. The good news is that it is standing on its own kickstand these days but if Indian wants to try and act snobby like todays hd management they should just shut down and save creditor's and fellow American's retirement money.

I cant believe Polaris bought it either. Why don't they focus on their own stuff which seems to be great. Why screw around with an dead old brand name? People are sick of getting ripped off and overpaying for motorcycles in America. Will Polaris follow hd flawed practices now ?

I wish them well, having a third American cruiser brand available out there can't hurt. When I'm in the market for a cruiser I would love another option than HD or Victory. If only the Victory wasn't so damn ugly I would probably own one. They really should drop Ness.

Acquisition of Indian is probably a couple of things... purchase them so no one else can. Now they have two of the three main stream cruiser manufacturers in the country. Whether they do well or not, it keeps the competition at bay. Additionally, it's a well known brand, whereas Polaris isn't as well known outside of motorcycle circles. If someone out of the loop were looking for a cruiser, wanted American made, and knew Indian were an option... Indian has a 50/50 chance.

Kawasaki literally kills anything made by Indian/Polaris or HD in every category at no more than two thirds the price.

Enough said.

Makes no odds to me, the day I go shopping for a cruiser I'll be heading for a Triumph dealer to get a Thunderbird Storm.
(well this is Badweather bikers after all.)

Indian is a weird marque - with the exception of the founders, Hendee and Hedstrom, just about every management team mixed up with it has been chock full of either crooks or fools. That goes for the original brand that died in '52 and the myriad pretenders since. The last big incarnation, CMC and the rebranding to Indian, left their creditors with millions of dollars of unpaid debt, while producing little more than a clone of a Softail and a lot of warranty work. They didn't even license the fender design that they blatantly stole from Brooke Kennedy.

I actually hope Polaris can break the cycle of stupid management for the marque's sake, but they won't be selling me one any more than you would see me on a Victory.

Regarding the Kawasaki comment, I won't disagree from a quality standpoint. But no one ever walked up to an American bike and said "Wow, it looks just like a Kawasaki".
