could be bs. Heard the other day that if you stack up all the pay for not working benefits you'd have to make $50k to equal that.

That seems like bs too. Honestly, that's the average income of a fairly hard working individual. 50+ hours a week. ( or what an average congresscritter spends on vacation on a $200k salary. How? Bribes )

If I could get $50k in total aid and not have to work at all to maintain my lifestyle....... why the flark am I working my butt off? ( so I doubt that claim )

It's insane for ME to work that hard when Momma State will let me play Xbox all day.

It's insane for Momma State to pay that well for not working. The math just doesn't work out. You simply CANNOT give people the average salary with that paid by taxes..

You'd have to borrow 46 cents on every dollar spent to make up the bad judgment of Congress on a deal like that. That's just impossible to maintain, and no sane human would expect a government to pass a budget with that kind of madness built it....

But.

There's no budget. Last one was GWB's that was 2009. The Senate has refused to vote on any House budget since. ( they HAVE voted on the President's budget, and did not pass it, 3 years running )

We ARE borrowing 46 cents on the dollar spent.

I STILL don't believe that I can get $50k in benefits from Mamma State, since a huge part of the $trillion++ deficits each year go to the million + added Federal Workers and paybacks to the Unions that got Barrack elected & re-elected...

It's just not possible to pay me an average income in "welfare".

Is it?

Because if it IS, that's the end of western civilization. There's been a deliberate push to destroy the "protestant work ethic" and the number of proud, honest, Americans who will refuse the dole and work on, no matter that it makes more "sense" to give up just is Not Enough to pay for this.

Who in his right mind would work his butt off for less than the dole in all it's don't have to be up before noon glory?

Being workable or even sane has nothing to do with Congress and this Administration.

That section 8 story might be true. I bet it is Rare in the amount that scammers get. But that there IS scams is certainly true. Those ladies have to be dumber than it sounds to tell a reporter about it though.... so bs is a good call.

There are many who will refuse to sit through Paul Krugman's telling you a truth. There are deathpanels. Actually, they exist, today, and are part of the "Complete Life System". They are, today, deciding how to program the computer to tell you to go home and die.

The brother of the current Mayor of Chicago is the architect of your fate. Obama chose him to help write the "Affordable Health Care Act". AKA Obamacare. Never heard of him? Not surprised.

Even less will sit through Glenn's rant on the subject. The enemies of the American People, the "press" have worked hard to make Glenn a pariah, a nutcase.

I don't agree with Glenn on a lot of things. He's right on this one.

Any body that read the bill, knew they were in there. This thing has been a series of taxes since day one - they are still denying the extend that the IRS plays in EMR/EMH.

It is a registration calamity that makes the gun grab and writ look like coloring books for kids. Your third Amendment meant shiate the moment this thing was signed. Forget about private property rights. It will all be declared, aligned, and liened for the costs against the center.

Remember it was never
From each according to their ability to each according to their need....
It was never said
what the translation is
From EVERY according to their capacity to the NEED as accorded.
It is so much more clear in Russian - it means that your every asset will be taxed and seized to pay for the debts (dolg) of the center - to meet the needs of the center
and make no mistake - it will repeat in exactly the same lines of the Soviet.
You are NOT the crony recipient of any of this largese: continue working Komrade - the future of the state depends upon it.

PS the Death Panels are called the IPAB - Independent Payment Advisory Board; Section 3403 is where the rhetoric starts; by the time you finish to 10320 for the fines levies, taxes, and liens - you should be well versed in the idiocy that got passed without reading.

F' these F'n Motha F'rs.
Every last F'n one of them.

as good as the PPACA is (sic) : they passed a 2800 page Financial Legislation bill the very next week.... again without reading it.

Exactly. But the taxes are not what pays.

"It's just not possible to pay me an average income in "welfare".

Yes.

You should watch this. Plenty of facts here. 'Corporate Government' statutes apply to Government employees. Stop being one. Verify yourself what is said at 15mins 41secs. That would include your health bills.

"It is easy to dodge our responsibilities, but we cannot dodge the consequences of dodging our responsibilities."
Josiah Charles Stamp

Another quote often attributed to Stamp is:
"Banking was conceived in iniquity and was born in sin. The bankers own the earth. Take it away from them, but leave them the power to create money, and with the flick of the pen they will create enough deposits to buy it back again. However, take away from them the power to create money and all the great fortunes like mine will disappear and they ought to disappear, for this would be a happier and better world to live in. But, if you wish to remain the slaves of bankers and pay the cost of your own slavery, let them continue to create money."
(Said to be from an informal talk at the University of Texas in the 1920s, but as yet unverified.)

OK. Heads back in the sand. Carry on ; ).

A couple of related issues.

http://www.theblaze.com/stories/2013/02/22/ann-cou lter-battles-room-full-of-libertarians-this-is-why -people-think-youre-puies/

Ann contends that the libertarians are so inclined to suck up to the progressives on subjects like pot they ignore the tyranny they then support.

Ann has a point.

I'm also in favor of legalizing, and taxing pot. Since even a tiny reduction in the increase of federal spending ( see sequester ) causes massive existential angst and constant lies from this White House and minions taxing pot may be the only way to pay for it. Taxing the rich simply can't. It seems to me that having the parents of the Occupy crowd pay for it makes the most sense of all the alternatives.

The President, who is an admitted ( but not convicted! ) felon and Enemy in the Drug War now favors rational drug laws. After the election of course. No sense in telling any thing resembling the truth BEFORE he gets re-elected. Wouldn't be prudent.

It is nice to know that the Obama Campaign continues, and undoubtedly continues to accept illegal contributions.

Ooops, they set new lows in obviousness.

I was going to start one, but I forgot.

It's amusing, in a scary sort of way, that Obama was against gay marriage, until just before his re-election. Also his administration was far more hostile to drug use, ( despite the President's own admitted use ) until after the election.

Has Barack been against something else, before the election that he's now for?

Oh, yeah, violating the Constitution.

This is written by Joel Gehrke of the Washington Examiner:

"Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., put the sequester in perspective this morning, noting that the law will lower federal spending to the same degree that the payroll tax hike lowered the size of each American’s paycheck in the fiscal cliff deal.

“It’s absurd to think that the government cannot get by with a little more than a 2 percent reduction in spending when every working American had to figure out how to make due with 2 percent less in their paychecks last month,” McConnell said on the Senate floor this morning.

Sequestration cuts the federal budget by 2.4 percent over the next decade, while the payroll tax increased by two percent earlier this year when President Obama and lawmakers opted not to extend the payroll tax holiday that had been in place.

“Normal folks must adjust their budgets,” McConnell quoted one constituent as saying, “so must the government.”"

Short and to the point.

If the injustice has a spring, or a pulley, or a rope, or a crank, exclusively for itself, then perhaps you may consider whether the remedy will not be worse than the evil; but if it is of such a nature that it requires you to be the agent of injustice to another, then, I say, break the law. For CQB - I like and prefer the shot gun.
That is not to day that a suppressed MP5 wouldn't be great - I just don't have one of those available to me.
and I also prefer a shot gun with more than two rounds.

But the PS90 is still available to citizens, in free states.

Yes, it's not full auto. You need a license for that, and a free state. Also because of stupid legislation signed by GHWB ( Bush the Elder ) you just can't get a legal P90.

Bummer, but not that big a one. If you can't defend yourself one trigger pull at a time, you NEED something bigger. Like a Claymore mine vest, or preferably, a mental exam.

I like the P90 because of Stargate SG1. Considered a PS90 for fun, but couldn't justify the $2k price tag.

City, sure a shotgun is a good tool, but not for every one. See silly people video in second amendment thread. Small person? Amputee? Stroke survivor? Medical or physical reasons even a 20ga. is too much recoil? Shotgun is a bad choice.

You can't own a full auto PS 90 period. It was produced after 1986. You can SBR it, but that is also expensive.

And generally I would agree about the full auto statement. However, as an infantryman, I can appreciate certain times when full auto is indeed necessary.

The P90 is one of the rare weapons that is COMPLETELY controllable during full auto fire. I could likewise control a SAW with 5-9 round bursts when I had my full battle dress.

Since I cannot ever own a P90 legally, I would say that my rights are infringed :/

I would fully support the repeal of the crappy anti gun law that prevents you from legally buying a machine gun made after an arbitrary date.

I also support the requirement of a permit for a machine gun, modern breach loading cannon, or other crew served "heavy" weapons. It's been a law for long enough to be perhaps, maybe, the only rational law. Not a ban. It also can be considered a slippery slope issue, and is arguable.

Living in an Imperial State with more restrictive laws ( even before the gun grab that is the SAFE Act ) than other states, I would argue for consistent rules and propose that federal law as of 1935 or so be the most restrictive allowed.

But this is a better discussion for the 2nd amendment or "black rifle" thread.

( and as a Citizen of the US, but a subject of New York, I am jealous of an Arizona Citizens right to own a fully automatic weapon.... after getting a permit. )

there is no perfect gun - other than the gun you have - when you need it, for the task at hand.
is a 22 perfect ? > not in my mind , not in my herd - but it beats NOTHING.

The three for me
Remy 7400 30/06 Reach out and touch
Mossberg 580 Keep off my porch outta my house
Ruger SP101 EDC .38/.357

though I am eying a KSG or a UST-15 to replace the Mossy for the go to in a bug out. Double the rounds, and a little shorter.

I have been seeing quite a bit o talk about the 10/22 - and well that one is on the short list too

How many guns should you have ?.... Always one more.

The 10/22 is simple, elegant, durable, and reliable. And it has an insane amount of aftermarket support.

It isn't (in my experience) the most accurate, but it's not bad. It will group in an inch at 50 yards all day long. But I've shot a few other .22 rifles that seem to group a little tighter.

Having taken apart and cleaned a lot of .22 rifles, I will say that the 10/22 is really well built and really stout inside and out. A lot of other .22 (even some nice old savages) use a lot more stamped / bendy / likely to wear parts.

The 10/22 is kind of a pain to clean, you need a bore snake or something, or to drill a hole in the back of the receiver for a cleaning rod. That lets you clean it from the rear and protect the crown. Though in hindsight, cleaning the bore on a .22 is probably more likely to do harm than good... Just hose out the barrel with some good solvent after you shoot it, clean out the action and receiver every now and then, and leave the poor barrel alone.

First Woodward, now Pat Caddell speaks out. You might remember Caddell from Hunter Thompson's screeds. He is a Democrat, a Liberal, and has worked for President Carter as well as Joe Biden. The Category One Badweb Obama supporters will ignore this article because it has been written for Fox News. I wish I could have a closed mind but that is simply not possible.

Are you finally waking up to the demagoguery of the Obama Administration or is your head still irretrievably stuck in the sand?

http://www.foxnews.com/opinion/2013/02/28/obama-is -closest-thing-to-nixon-weve-seen-in-40-years/

Obama is the closest thing to Nixon we've seen in 40 years

By Patrick Caddell

Published February 28, 2013

FoxNews.com

It is not without a bit of irony that, in the 40 years since the explosion of the Watergate story, Bob Woodward would again be under attack from the White House for trying to tell the truth. But this time the attack is coming from a Democrat.

While Barack Obama may not share the Nixon pedigree, he and his White House are the closest thing to the Nixon regime of any that we have seen since then -- both in the extent of their paranoia and their willingness to suppress the truth and push the boundaries of law.

In my lifetime, in over 40 years in national politics, Mr. Obama is the only president who comes close to rivaling Richard Nixon for fundamental disingenuousness.

However, some things never change, just as Woodward and Bernstein were attacked then by the establishment mainstream media for daring to question a president -- or do a story that they wouldn't touch -- they are once again attacking Woodward the way they did when he and Carl Bernstein pursed Watergate.

As the youngest person on Nixon's enemies list in 1972, I am particularly sensitive to a White House where they have utter disregard for trampling on dissent and on the rights of individuals.

Since Benghazi, when I raised the alarm about a media that was not only willing to blatantly support one political party or one political a candidate but for the first time seemed willing to suppress or ignore the facts and truth as related to a disaster of American foreign policy, my fear has been that we are now on a slippery slope. Almost everything since then has helped to realize that fear. Chuck Hagel, the sequester, Mr. Obama's speeches -- all of these have revealed a mainstream press that has absolutely decided to wear its bias openly as outriders of the Obama administration. Except for one issue -- when the president refused to allow reporters to cover him and Tiger Woods playing golf together. Now that's something they can get riled up about.

What this Woodward, White House sequester battle highlights is the crisis in our democracy. Not so much for what it says about Mr. Obama and his administration but for what it says about the establishment press and all the members of my own party.

During Watergate, there were a number of Republicans who were willing to stand against the president of their party in defense of the United States of America.

Sadly, as as Democrat, I must confess, that today there is no Democratic Senator or member of the House who appears to be willing to publicly put the country ahead of Barack Obama's White House.

As important as these other issues are, however, nothing rivals Benghazi.

During the Chuck Hagel confirmation fight, it was revealed that to this day, neither the public nor the Congress know the names of those who were evacuated out of Benghazi. Nor have we ever seen the transcripts of the interviews which were conducted immediately after the event.

The White House's excuse, that this information cannot be revealed because of an FBI investigation, is eerily and frighteningly similar to Nixon telling H.R. Haldeman and John Ehrlichman to "turn off" the Watergate investigation as it threatened national security.

Sadly, it now appears that Director Mueller and the FBI are willing to serve, once again, as an instrument of cover up for an administration -- this time following a tragedy in which 4 Americans are now dead.

As much as I have always admired Bob Woodward and admire now him in the sequester fight and for his willingness to take on the White House, I cannot refrain from expressing my disappointment that this man, who did such a service for the country 40 years ago, has essentially taken himself off the boards of the Benghazi fiasco. I wish that if Woodward were to get in a fight, he would do it on an issue that really matters to the safety of the United States.

Patrick Caddell is a Democratic pollster and Fox News contributor. He served as pollster for President Jimmy Carter, Gary Hart, Joe Biden and others. He is a Fox News political analyst and co-host of "Campaign Insiders" Sundays on Fox News Channel and Mondays at 10:30 am ET on "FoxNews.com Live."

Witty sarcasm. A bit dry, but if you like Brit coms...

‘The worst-case scenario for us,” a leading anti-budget-cuts lobbyist told the Washington Post, “is the sequester hits and nothing bad really happens.”

Think about that. .....

So we will lay off first responders and close Head Start programs while continuing to pay the Bunny Inspectors. For those who don’t know, there exist Department of Agriculture Inspectors whose job it is to attend stage magician performances to see if any pet rabbits are used in the performance; and if there are to inspect the Federal License required for keeping pet rabbits for public display. (Note that if the rabbit is killed in the act no Federal license is required; it applies only to rabbits kept as pets but displayed publicly.) Another task for the Bunny Inspectors is to see that anyone in the US keeping rabbits as pets has a Federal License if any of those rabbits are sold. The penalties for keeping rabbits for sale without a Federal License is quite severe. You can raise them for food and kill and eat them, and if you sell rabbits for food the matter is of state or local concern; it’s only the sale of pet rabbits that has to have a Federal License issued by the Department of Agriculture.

Obama has officially spent more time playing golf than consulting with Congress. Ok, that just shows the contempt Obama has for Congress, and we share that.

His utter lie about going through the budget line by line is pretty obvious. Obama's policy has always been simple and direct.

1. he's running. His campaign never shut down during his first term, and it's still going, still collecting bribes and has, to date, laundered in the close order of a Billion $ from foreign and domestic sources. The giving of our tax money, and our grandchildren's, to folk who bribed him is so blatant that only todays sycofantic worshipers in the Press can ignore it.

Yes, Obama is a great campaigner. His leadership skills are on a par with a 3 year old having a temper tantrum, but golly gee, he sure can lie well.

2. Never cut a dime of the budget. That cuts his power to give our money to people that bribe him. ( ok, cut defense, that worked for Slick Willie )

3. Hate sells. Play any Obama speech. Class envy = preach hate. Worked for Stalin, worked for Hitler, worked for Saddam. Pure Alinsky tactics without the wisdom.
