We did a job in Atlanta a dozen or so years ago and it's the first time I'd seen a Waffle House. One exit off of I-75 south of town had two Waffle House's; one east of the north-bound exit and the other west of the south-bound exit. I guess people in Georgia don't like making left turns. | ||

As for the back story I just remember a post a while back about how Mr. Grumpy liked the Waffle House and had to come to this side of the pond to get it. We've had one probably 500 yds. as the crow flies from our house for about four or five years now and last night was the first time we went. My youngest (her pick) and I sat at the bar to get the full experience. I didn't see any muffins on the menu, but two were behind the counter | ||

That is HILARIOUS Strokizator. A buddy and I made a game out of finding Waffle Houses on a long road trip home from down south. We saw the exit with one on each side and cracked up, LOL! | ||

Aahhh, the "Affful Waffle"... loved going there as a kid on the way to church, then on the way home we'd stop at a Krispy Kreme, back when little old ladies ran the place and would serve you a still-hot doughnut, with a GLASS, yes, GLASS of milk! My favorite thing about Waffle House as a kid was the jukebox- of course the first 5 records were songs written about the WH! As I grew older, I came to marvel at the skills of the short-order cooks... each waitress would just walk up, stand about 10 feet away, rattle off everything that needed to be cooked verbally, and whammo, those guys would giterduuun!! Absolutely fascinating to me to watch them cook. Food didn't suck too bad either. Beats Krystal after a late nite, although I never much cared for their coffee. | ||

The juke box is still there. The fella rockin' the mullet and his +1 had it loaded up with 80's GNR and Bon Jovi. My most memorable Waffle trip was I went with some friends to another guys house where they were drinking and playing nickel ante poker. Once everyone passed out we scraped the change off the table and headed for the next town over. At that time it was the closest WH. Good times, good times. | ||

Hello my name is Innes & I'm a Waffle house addict. OK here's the story, (short version, the long version has so many fun stories, remind me to tell you sometime) Summer '04 Alex Prior is doing his "Ride Across America" finishing in Newfieland. Some other Badweb inmates rode over to "The Rock" as well & I flew over from here. (This is where the Puffin Muffin gag comes from & if you weren't there you don't need to know.) Fast forward to '05 I came over to Chicago at the invitation of Grndskpr who'd been in Newfoundland the year before & with a couple of other guys we went down to N Carolina to ride the Dragon where Don aka Oz666, another friend from the Canada trip, joined us. On the way back up to go to Homecoming Don & I were riding through pouring rain all the way through Kentucky & at some point stopped for gas & food where he introduced me to Waffle House. My life changed. | ||

There's one 3/4's of a mile from my house.In the '60's my younger brother played little league ball for a Waffle House sponsored team.I've been eating at WH for over 45 years. | ||

HeY Grumpy they do have a Franchise system You could have Grumpys Waffle House in France. They need a few on the Left bank to improve on the Food desert there. Would be a great hit in the South of France! And you have to import cooks from Georgia or South Carolina! | ||

I'm sitting here giggling like a loony just thinking about that. I took my wife & boy back in '07 at Easter. Colder than a witches t.. er colder than a very cold thing. The sea was full of ice!! It's a great place. 2014 will be the 10th anniversary of that trip, hmmmm that gives me an idea! | ||

Love Waffle House! I was introduced late in life as we don't have any near here, but my first taste was on the way back from March Badness. Closest one to me is about 3 hours away, but happens to be on the way to family in Pittsburgh which I visit with my dad and brother once or twice a year - it's a tradition of ours, now. | ||

Maybe you could talk Mr. Simms into opening a Waffle House in St. John's? That would leave a great opportunity for stories told around a campfire, I'm sure. I was unable to make the trip in '04, as Terri was having some serious medical issues. I still want to watch a sunrise from the lighthouse on Cape Spear. I don't know what the T-shirts would say, though. Buellers Invade The Rock just doesn't seem right for a second go. | ||
