"I accept the 2nd is about personal safety"

Agreed totally Greg (Ducxl), and I will add that means not only against criminals in out local areas, whether in NYC or Riverdale, Ut., but also to protect us against an over reaching, oppressive government bent on running every aspect of our lives.

Our founding fathers did not mention anything, in the 2nd Amendment about local crime or the Indian natives but instead:

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed"

Its pretty clear they meant at that time, the British government. It IS STILL the same today and not once, so far as I've been watching this congressional testimony this morning, has ANYBODY yet mentioned that. Why does it seem that people are afraid of saying this in most all public discussion? And I'm sitting here screaming at the TV; boy do I need a ride!

It's kind of like the guy showing up to pick your daughter up for a date and expecting him to say, "Hi, I'm the guy you've been warning your daughter about".

This idiot is not even a good Marxist.

The intelligensia and appartchik are the enemies of proletariat; however, the mass of men lead lives of such desperation that they are so blind to what 'experts' and 'politicians' say as right that they can be herded en mass to nearly what ever means that agenda drives them too.
It is of note that after the Red Revolution - the first ones that were executed - were the ones that had 'been right' before; Academics and Politicians that were bright enough, talented enough to pose a threat to the primacy of Lenin - were executed, disappeared, exiled, imprisoned etc.

Lesson - it is not the line soldier that must be stopped - they are but a tool of the hydra of the elite; you want to stop the lines of them coming - you must stand against that upper escheleons with direct and painful reprecusions for them.
If they threaten force to the citizenry - let them learn the full lessons of history;
and again, and again.

The kind of person you are, determines what tribe you are in in todays world. The tribe you are of by your actions, not birth, location or nation. Bill Whittle says it better than I can.

http://www.ejectejecteject.com/archives/000129.htm l

"Now, for the rest of you, let's get past Republican and Democrat, Red and Blue, too. Let's talk about these two Tribes: Pink, the color of bunny ears, and Grey, the color of a mechanical pencil lead.

I live in both worlds. In entertainment, everything is Pink, the color of Angelyne's Stingray, it's exciting and dynamic and glamorous. I'm also a pilot, and I know honest-to-God rocket scientists, and combat flight crews and Special Ops guys -- stone-cold Grey, all of them -- and am proud and deeply honored to call them my friends.

The Pink Tribe is all about feeling good: feeling good about yourself! Sexually, emotionally, artistically, nothing is off limits, nothing is forbidden, convention is fossilized insanity and everybody gets to do their own thing without regard to consequences, reality, or natural law. We all have our own reality, one small personal reality is called science, say and we Make Our Own Luck and we Visualize Good Things and There Are No Coincidences and Everything Happens for a Reason and You Can Be Whatever You Want to Be and we all have Special Psychic Powers and if something Bad should happen it's because Someone Bad Made It Happen. A Spell, perhaps.

The Pink Tribe motto, in fact, is the ultimate Zen Koan, the sound of one hand clapping: EVERYBODY IS SPECIAL.

Then, in the other corner, there is the Grey Tribe, the grey of reinforced concrete. This is a Tribe where emotion is repressed because Emotion Clouds Judgment. This is the world of Quadratic Equations and Stress Risers and Loads Torsional, Compressive and Tensile, a place where Reality Can Ruin Your Best Day, the place where Murphy mercilessly picks off the Weak and the Incompetent, where the Speed Limit is 186,282.36 miles per second, where every bridge has a Failure Load and levees come in 50 year, 100 year and 1000 Year Flood Flavors.

The Grey Tribe motto is, near as I can tell, THINGS BREAK SOMETIMES AND PLEASE DON'T LET IT BE MY BRIDGE."

Please don't let it be my nation.

Just went through getting yelled at by my Father. He and my Mother are getting on, have been bright, hard working folk their whole lives. When I was going through the traditional lefty phase back in high school, Dad barely tolerated my idiocy, and was far more right wing than I ever thought I would be.

As he often says, "they told me if I voted for Goldwater, we'd be at war in Vietnam. I did, we were."

Now, they have too much time to watch CNN. I actually got yelled at with the current series of talking points from the white house. ( this actually has happened a lot in the last 5 years... Obama's control of the spin of the day is impressive. The 24/7 leftist media uses classic Wilsonian repetition to push the buzz phrase of the day. ( perhaps you know that as Goebbels method of promoting a lie... he got it From Woodrow )

And now my parents parrot it. They used to be sane. They never taught us to hate, but Barack has taught them. They believe everything Piers Morgan has to say. I've even been accused of being racist when I disagreed with the President.

They don't even believe that Obama has never signed a budget. "they had continuing resolutions, that's the same thing"

Ah, no. Moss is not tetracycline. It makes a difference. ( Moss is a folk remedy for infections, applied topically )

The thing is, they know better. They taught us children well, encouraged learning ( History major, Teacher ) and have always been patriotic, and well read.

Now, they parrot propaganda, and get surly and dismissive when I show them proof they are repeating lies.

They are smart folk. They buy that you should be reasonable about gun control, and insist, loudly and repeatedly, that "no one is going to confiscate your guns" and a breath later that "no one needs a 30 round magazine" and the next insist that the law that will take your gun from you because you are forbidden to give it away doesn't exist.

I must be lying. They won't look at the law online.

If this is what smart people are being brainwashed to...... WTF is going on with the millions of dull clods that are out there?

Be afraid. Very Afraid.

I think it skips a generation. My parents were the hippy love-in koombaya lets all groove together in camper village wearing macramae and tie dye.

I can't stand that meme.
Grandfather was a Senior Chief in the Navy, did WWII, Korea, and a bit of Vietnam; we always got along - he sent me to boot camp when I was 16 because the crowd I was running with were going to end up dead, drugged out, or in prison
and from tales of the HS reunion - he nailed it.

So as I said - it skips a generation - and that frightened the hell out of me - that I would spawn what my parents dysfunction was. Got my shiate fixed at earliest option available. this downward circled cesspool ends here.
No matter What the next generation brings - meh - I know it ain't my mess. This shiate ends with me.

stay away from the TV - I put buckshot through it 3 years ago - I don't miss it.
Read Original sources - like your life depends on it; because history does indeed rhyme enough that the tune should be more than familiar if your paying attention

Stay sane, trained and powder dry - it comes.

A few of my sisters are in the genius/gifted IQ range. They behave very much as Aesquire describes. They feel Obama is our savior and has been stifled from fully putting his true vision into fruition. Last time I saw them, after they sang Obama's praises, I said that he is destroying the very fabric that our nation was founded upon, and as long as there are gullible sheeple that will follow without question, we will continue on that path. They just fell silent.

I was in the middle of a two week drinking binge, so for me just speaking coherently at the time without getting upset was a challenge

Aesquire, I don't get the point of your Bill Whittle quote. He throws out the stupid red and blue division which I fully support and understand, but then he makes it all pink or gray. Then he starts by saying he has feet in both.

The gray leaves no room for the spiritual; the pink, no room for the scientific.

So what's the point? I don't see one.

That's also my point, Blake - you misread me. By setting up the opposition of gray/pink, Whittle sets them apart, and in opposition (not me).
His color-coded duality is as useless as the red/blue one.

His is a politics of divisiveness. I concede that one can talk separately about emotion and fact - that is obvious. Further, one can say that some tend toward emotional responses, while others tend to be drawn to facts.

I am just tired of divisive arguments: art vs. science (a truly "modern" concept, unheard of in ancient times and on up until about the 19th century - think Leonardo da Vinci). I am tired of reds vs. blues. Now there is going to be grays vs. pinks?

I had my fill of all that with Mad Magazine's Spy vs. Spy. Now I'm just tired of it.

However, I'm willing to allow that I also may just be tired :- )

"stay away from the TV" very much concur with this..

MSM driven agenda.. they depict and portray what they want you to hear.. local events, not so bad.. national/political, question EVERYTHING. They're very crafty with subliminal techniques. Seek out debates, expose and educate oneself to both sides of the topics and issues..

I'm gut-sickened daily with the amount of people being led along like lambs to the slaughter..

Here's a video every self respecting American needs to see..

Yes, it's "fox" news, however, it appears to be an attempt at "counter" agenda (3 parts)

Rearranging chairs on the Titanic....
We all know that boat sank
Yet a fabricated love story about a lie of romance was one of the wildly most popular movies and biggest grossers - still.

Haven't seen the movie - I don't need to ; that boat sank, and no false romantic notions of how grand it was will change it lying at the bottom of the ocean.

we are being led by those that watched the movie and at some level think that 'love' and ideology change the sinking

ugh. Apply that analogy as you will to the New Deal, Great Society, or Hope & Change as you need be. The boat sinks.

City, didn't just sink, it sank because it had crap steel, ( alluded to in the movie as the fault of the greedy rich villain ) and it almost missed the iceberg, jussst Right.

If the Titanic's lookout had spoken a moment earlier, or later, & the helm been a little slower, or faster, the ship would have either rammed the iceberg solidly, or missed. The miss would have been ideal, but a solid ram would have been survivable. There would have been many injuries, some deaths, but the Titanic would have stayed afloat. Even with the crap high sulfur cheap steel.

Now apply that knowledge to the metaphors of our situation. We are not going to miss. We still don't know if the collision is going to hurt us with inertial injuries, or sink the whole thing.

You do grasp the point of the "pink/grey" labels. "... we Visualize Good Things...." may make you "feel" better for a while, but the ship still sinks.

Farhen, read the whole essay. Yes, it's an oversimplification. Has to be, Whittle tries to skip the political aspect and go to the human attitude on "how the universe works". He is in both worlds since he writes for Hollywood. It is a strange place.

A Famous actor and political activist may star in a film about secret agents, and have opinions about How Things Should Be that a 12 year old could see are unworkable. But he's famous, and can get a microphone to tell you you shouldn't have an assault weapon with more than 5 shots. ( his movie has him using one in each hand ) He's Pink, and not the singer. Feelings without wisdom. Perhaps that is why he can pretend so good, make us believe he's a different person in his films. He's not really all there, and that means he can be anyone... perhaps.

The explosions, the wire gag where he jumps off the building and lives, the design of the telephoto lenses and cameras used to bring us the super-spy experience, all built or designed by Grey people. The actor has no idea how many g's he can take falling for the camera, but the wire rig designer does. A lot of skull sweat and math goes into the exact braking force they can use without breaking his back, blacking him out, or even making him too hurt to finish the movie. It makes no damn difference how the stunt coordinator "feels" about how safe the rig is, he tests it with sandbags. BEFORE the actor gets there.

Three times.

It's not that the Stunt boss is cold hearted and Vulcan Logical. He knows the emotional effect the director is going for, has discussed it with him, and is thrilled to be working on a major film, with great talent, and his emotional sense helps him craft the stunts to get the biggest OOOOOOHHH!!! out of the audience, and help the actor, director, costume girl, and maybe even himself an big award. Lots of money, and maybe an Oscar!

But he does the math, tests the rigs, double checks the explosives and has another guy cross check him, so no one gets actually hurt. He's a Pro. Grey to the bone.

The guys on the "news" shows? Pink. No technical knowledge, usually, and a firm, committed believer in How Things Should Be without thought of how things really are, or would be under different situations.

Off topic. Wasn't the 'Titanic' that sank Aesquire, but that is another of my conspiracies :-).

Sister ship 'Olympic' is the one lying on the seabed.

The polar bears that were on the iceberg, and probably witnessed the event, were never even summoned to testify, probably because their evidence would have ruined the movie.

Fahren, you missed the part about the stunt boss in my response?

No claims here to cold vulcan logic.

An slight understanding of the founders thoughts because I've read a few of them, perhaps.
Those weren't unemotional either. Lots of passion involved.

Lives, Fortunes, Sacred Honor....

Did Chuck-You, my Senator read the Federalist papers? He must have. He just doesn't care for those "negative" parts that say he's supposed to be limited in his power.

You don't have to agree with the pink/grey "tribes" bit. One man's opinion, and a simplification, at best. Interesting thought, IMHO.

I didn't agree with a lot of the Little Red Book by the Greatest Mass Murderer in History. Useful information on irregular warfare and police states though. I'd rate it as a must read for military history buffs. Also for those trying to understand China, today. If you don't know the basis for the Cultural Revolution, you miss a lot.

What will OUR "Hundred flowers" campaign be like? Never heard of it? How will you respond to the next one if you don't know what happened the last time.

Hint, the city dwellers lived on the labor of the rural folk. Look at a US map color coded for the last few elections by county. Do I hear a Rhyme?
