Greetings Everyone! I may be going to look at a 2007 SV650s for a friend. Does anybody have any experience with these? Any problems I should be looking for? Thank You | ||

Just make sure it isn't to badly abused they make great little track bikes and most of em I have seen show signs of said trackage  | ||

The SV engine is almost bulletproof so just look for accident damage and ask for a regular service schedule. A lot get raced, then put back on the road afterwards, so check for evidence of lockwiring on sump plugs etc  If your friend wants to modify the bike we sell lots of cool SV related gear on our other web site here www.twinshack.com Good luck  | ||

I have an 04 that I use for my sporty rides. Let me know if you have any particular questions. MAinly if it looks to be a well cared for bike then buy it. There aren't any glaring issues with these bikes. | ||

Picked up an '04 last year with 700 miles. It's my wife's touring rig. The stock clip ons are positioned pretty aggressively. I think you are leaned over more than on a XBR or 1125R. We did a handlebar triple tree swap from the naked SV. We also added givi harbags and a tailpack. It looks like a mini ST bike. She can ride this bike all day in comfort (with a sheepskin seatpad). The stock seat is bad. A Corbin is in the cards for Christmas. It is light and handles very responsively. It is surprisingly fast, and the '04 and up have perfect fueling. The suspension is adequate but not astounding. If you can get it for a good price go for it. You'll like it. | ||

If it's in fair shape, you won't go wrong. It has a TON of aftermarket goodies and discussion groups. Suspension stock sucks - loads of options there from GSXR rear shocks and cartridge emulators in front (re-springing both ends) to putting a GSXR front end to get USD forks and far superior front suspension and brakes. | ||

2007..... Bike is a solid rock. I would look for 1. Miss-matched fasteners. 2. Covered up road damage. 3. Fluid CONDITION. Some people don't do enough maintenance, dirty brake fluid can also mean water in the master cyl. (early failure) 4. Sprocket condition 5. just as above, lock bolts and wire scuffs mean it was pounded on for an undisclosed amount of time. 6. I miss having an SV around. Wonderful machine, especially if you get an exhaust to showcase that great v twin sound. | ||

Great bike. They sold thousands of them over ten years. I had an 04 for a couple of months. I really loved the motor, and even though the bike had almost 9000 miles on it, it cleaned up real good. The only problem, as Slaughter mentioned, is that the suspension is rather primitive. Cost about $500 to do the front end at Traxxion, and it needs a new adjustable shock as well. The best part about it was that it reminded me of how much fun a middleweight can be. So I sold the SV650, and upgraded to a 2010 Triumph Street Triple R. Now THAT is some fun motor bicycle, I tell you what!  | ||

Again, thank you everyone. My buddy and I went and looked at the bike yesterday. Didn't look like a track bike and already had a GSXR rear shock, a pipe, controls, and a few other bits installed. He got a good deal and we brought it home. |
