Funny video City. I have a slightly different take on what civilization is doing to our gene pool. No politics in it at all, and I don't have a solution in mind. The problem is that the civilized world protects the week, exactly the opposite of natural selection. We have stacked the deck to make sure that the week have a chance to pass along, and reinforce their week traits. Think what you may, but Hitler had a thing for extremely unconventional weapons systems. Some showed great promise. Others were abysmal failures. Fortunately Hitler was not one to be able to tell the difference and often shelved things that would later prove themselves in later wars, while dumping huge amounts of precious resources into projects that would be forever seen as unworkable. I would tend to point to his opening up a second front to the war by his invasion of Russia as an example of his incompetence rather than just a factor that played into his defeat. This was something that he controlled, not something that he had to adjust to. Canceling the ME 262 jet fighter is another prime example. Meanwhile he went with the V2 rocket program that was at best just a terrorist weapon that couldn't hit a target of value. He also poured huge amounts of resources into programs for gigantic tanks that were just way to heavy and resource intensive to ever have hopes of being practical. There were many tactical errors along the way too. | ||

We got the Scientists, the Soviets got the technicians. That's why their rockets worked earlier than ours.... but our stuff worked better, once we figured it out. Example. A relay. Simple thing, right? But there's this little thing called vacuum welding. With no film of air between the contacts, they fuse. Relay quites working. We spent a lot of time and money and came up with a gold layer that didn't vacuum weld. The Soviets put their relays in airtight cans. A lot of Russian stuff works great... but is a bit crude. On the "giving contraceptives away" question, we likely agree on principle so long as it is lawfully and especially constitutionally done, and not to usurp or subvert parental authority. Setting aside the the invasive contraceptives, implants, IUD's, reversible tube tying, etc. Which you would absolutely need parental authority for a minor. ( So I believe, others will differ ) Let's stick to happy face balloons and saran wrap. Give them away ( private charity, I understand and partially agree on government issue, issues ) to all who want, no questions, no judgment, no shame and no impediment to safe sex and prevention of pregnancy, other than self control. The parent's don't want little suzie to have access to a happy balloon? maybe based on a religion, maybe on psychosis, I don't care. They have certain right and responsibilities, and this can be the same thing as denying your child medical treatment for cancer while you pray to Ba'al to save her. Might be their beliefs, but it's still wrong, and crazy wrong.... I freely admit there are some darn murky corners on that path. Charging parents with murder when they let their kid die because of a religious hangup? Contrast and compare to allowing a Father to torture to death a 14 year old for refusing to marry a 54 year old Uncle? ( and the Mother doesn't want the Father punished because he was doing right.... ) No simple answers. I'd give the happy balloons away. No questions, no shame, less unwanted pregnancy, less abortion, less fatal or crippling disease. I'd do it the easy way. Buckets of happy balloons, scattered about. No need to hand a kid a condom, no need to make them embarressed about taking a few.
