Skeenah creek was nice and the spread even though we missed the brisket biscuits was really good.

They had brisket biscuits?
What was it, $3.00 a head for the spread? Skeenah was a great place to camp.
(Don't follow Buellish to Copperhead) LOL

I happened to get the VERY LAST, cold, but DEEELICIOUS, brisket biscuit that weekend- the kind lady hosting there and her hubby/crew also had a giant spread of other yummy homemade grub laid out, all for the sum of about $5. The same weekend, I ate a dinner at Copperhead- it was good, but no comparison to the Skeenah folks, due to the homey vibe and such!

FWIW- it's been a long time, but weren't Britt and GT looking around to find a place to create TWO II? Where's Glitch when you need him?

OK Vern- won't be long before we'll need to start coordinating efforts- I'll holler at Nick up in N. Knox and let him know too. He's not even a year here in E. TN, from Iowa IIRC, and he NEEDS to make this trip...

WOOHOO!!!

Lurkin' ; )

Britt and GT seem to be settled in to their new life without TWO, now that the shock of "what do we do now" is gone.

Britt's doing the baking thing, I think she's part of a bakery shop in Cleveland.

GT is farming goats for yogurt and cheese.
Says he really likes being able to ride when he wants rather than when he gets the chance.

I doubt seriously they're entertaining a TWO-II any longer, but one never knows.

Ann and I are up at the homestead every weekend now a days, so we might run into y'all while y'all are visiting.
The homestead is between Clermont and Cleveland off (you guessed it!) HWY129.

It's good to see BTF living on, I've always said these types of "get-togethers" are best being a "roll yer own".

Y'all have fun and ride safe, and maybe we'll see y'all when you get here.

Thanks Glitch!

Wow- that's a sea change from what they had to do keeping TWO rolling- bakery work and goat farming/cheese making! They should combine efforts and do a roadside stand out there somewhere- garonteeed that a ginormous amount of peeps, especially bikers, would stop for some of their legendary good food again! Good on them both!

Looks like Skeenah is the proper "heir" to all the goodness that was TWO- they're willing and very able to deal with all us nutjobs. I'd just REALLY benefit from a hot-tub soak after a day's ride...

I'm sorry to hear that. It seemed like a few months after they closed, they were very intent on TWO-II.

We def enjoyed camping but the cabin would be more simple. What's the math work out to? Cost per person/night/weekend?

now that the weekend is chosen the rest should take care of itself. sounds like C3 has established a home front. skeenah campground can be a good place to rest up and clean up as well.

Well Ken, it is due.....I am old and fat. To be fair I do get on the frog a bit about his physique when he starts harping impossible fuel mileage numbers.....because "he weighs 62 pounds and is only as thick as a cardboard cut out of himself".

We are both fairly accurate in our assessments of each other. However, given that, I am the faster smoother rider with a loaded bike! But then my ORANGEUly is also the fastest color of all of the Buell motorcycles!

So the date is 10/11 through 10/14? Good enough! Someone needs to get the 'Storm Fronts' thread started.

Well, Barker, here's the good and bad news regarding C3:

The good, is that it's there and available, tried and true, a great hangout. The bad is I SERIOUSLY doubt I should attempt that driveway going up OR down with a fully loaded GL1000...

Oh well. I'll probably look into things at Skeenah, plus see what other folks might do about Copperhead. I think I've decided that any vacation I take really must include access to a hot-tub and pool if at all possible.

Whatcha think, Vern?

No doubt! You need the hot tub and pool to soak that OLD FEEBLE body of yours after a day on that Gold Wing!

I am initially planning for camping at Skeenah. Depending of course on if the wife goes.

Old/feeble, naahh- just gettin' arthritis here and there, and a hot tub soak would do wonders to "recharge" my batteries so to speak... gotta fiddle with the ergos and such, get new fork springs and a brace, etc.

There were a couple of cafe'd wings parked outside of the Cafe Racer tent at Mid Ohio last year. They were pretty cool.

Yeah, I really dig those "black-wings" and "rat-wings" fo sho!

I've definitely got a good place to start with mine- I'd have to work up some detachable brackets and stuff for the Windjammer and bags, get another seat, and so on. Taking it to my GL guru today for a tuneup- we've already discussed upgrading the suspension, which I should be able to do myself...

True story: The original '75 GL1000 was meant to be a musclebike, a direct competitor to the Kaw Z1R... we all know how that turned out! I do dig the power mine has though...

Yep, I have a friend here that has (had?) one with an aftermarket supercharger kit. It had a Weber 2 barrel right on top in front of the rider- much like an XB, the "gas tank" on a GL is not actually the gas tank. He had sort of "Mad Max'ed" it; he had diamond tread aluminum side covers and the supercharger was exposed. It looked pretty bad-ass.
