,Re Elect no one,ever

That is usually good advice. There are a few exceptions, but can't think of one right now.

Let's face it, about 40% of us are going to vote R. about 40% are going to vote D. Period. no extra thought involved.

Now if you are a person who holds a trip wire belief, or a few, it's usually easy to go by the Party. ( often a mistake, but easy. )

If, for example, your main concern is that women not be denied an abortion, you are going to vote D. Even if that concern is misplaced, the D's are usually a better bet if that's your thing. There are reasons for that... but I'll skip them unless asked.

If, for example, your main concern is racial oppression, you are going to vote R. ( unless you've been brainwashed by decades of lying propaganda from the D's ) voting for the party of Lincoln, and the suffragettes, is a far better bet than voting for the party of the Klan, Jim Crow Laws, Fire hoses on crowds, and "separate but equal".

If your deal is to make a fortune off other's misfortune with high energy prices, or want to live on the dole without working, then the D's are for you.

If your deal is making yourself and the people who work with/for you wealthy, while providing a good or service, then R's are for you.

There is no such easy answer if you have multiple concerns, and they are spread across party lines. For example, someone who wants to keep the first couple of Amendments to preserve liberty, AND wants to limit restrictions on adult sexual behavior from self righteous "religious" types, you have to......actually pay attention to what the candidate has done and says he's going to do. Both. You have to pay attention. Some guys tell you X and do Y, and lie about it, over and over. ( really makes you wonder if IQ tests, not ID should be required to vote.... damn, some people are dumb )

So we get to the wise quote above.

If you can't be bothered to check out a candidates record, and don't care to study the issues, and what more than one side says about possible solutions, then you simply cannot, and will not make an informed decision on election day.

So be it. Most of us are too busy living lives to spend that much time and effort, consulting multiple sources, educating yourself on economics ( voodoo subject ) Chemistry, ( actual science ) physics, etc.

So the logic is simple. The guy in office probably isn't doing a good job. maybe he can't, maybe his ideology is wrong, maybe he's stupid, maybe it's not his fault. Tough. Fire him. Get a new guy.

Can't hurt, has to help, and these Congressmen etc. need to NOT be permanent aristocrats living off us. Let them go home, with our thanks, and work for a freaking living. Like we do. ( they probably won't most of them are very, very rich. )

a conniving sumnabitch will bet both sides against the middle and hedge policies and proposals to each in their own idiom so as to best line their own pockets - it is why you have Super Pac entities pay to BOTH sides of the ballot.

As far as "donations" from superpacs to both sides. Isn't that the SMART thing to do? No matter who wins, they owe you. ADM does it, Exxon does it, Wall Street does it. My Union, unfortunately, does not. That already bites them in the...

This is a 5 page article written in Newsweek on why our nation should reject a second Obama/Biden term.

In the middle of page 4 and continuing to the end, the 5th page, it speaks as to what we need to decide, as a nation, on what we want as a people.

A good read, page 1 to the end at page 5. Enjoy!

Excellent. Several months ago I predicted even the "mainstream" media would finally begin to turn on him because his failed presidency. I'm starting to see indications of this, and the cover on Newsweek pretty much says it all:

The media may be starting to turn on BO. I would never have dreamed of Newsweek. Then again Newsweek is so close to bankruptcy they will probably try almost anything at this point to sell rags.

I did just see BO giving a press conference. He's been under fire lately for ignoring the Presidential press corp. As he left a couple of reporters actually called out... "Don't be a stranger" and "Come on back". If BO loses the press, he will lose everything. They may have finally gotten to the point where they are realizing they have completely marginalized themselves by not doing their jobs for the past 4 years. It's not exactly a tide shift, but it's nice to see for a change.

>>>Then again Newsweek is so close to bankruptcy they will probably try almost anything at this point to sell rags.

That's part of the problem. Newsweek, at this point, barely has more circulation than my high school newspaper did.

I expect folks, regardless of the merit of the content, to write it off as a desperate attempt to gain readership.

I keep challenging folks to tell me a single thing Obama has accomplished and the best any have marshaled to date is that drivel about "well, with what he inherited from Bush" crap.

I get it.

We were on tough times.

I've been on tough times.

I did something.

Barack Obama has not.

People . . . you are in debt, as of this weekend, $16,000,000,000,000.

How desperate is the commander-in-chief of TOAD (Team One and Done) to be historically relevant? How much is he in love with himself? How huge is his ego (insert "infinity" symbol here _____ ):

Morning Bell: Obama Edits Official State Department Documents to Tout Himself

Amy Payne, August 17, 2012

Inserting himself into the biographies of past presidents on the White House website apparently wasn't enough for President Obama. His State Department is now editing its descriptions of foreign countries into yet another taxpayer-subsidized campaign commercial for the Obama Administration. The State Department has recently ended its long-running series of Background Notes, which were analytical, objective histories of other countries. In their place, new 'Fact Sheets' now tout Obama's policies and actions toward each nation. ... This follows an Administration trend that goes back to 2009. In March of that year, the Administration was caught editing President George W. Bush's biography to soften his listed accomplishments, and it quickly reversed course. Just a few months ago, it was discovered that White House staff had edited the biographies of many past presidents on whitehouse.gov to include a bullet point or two inserting President Obama into each historical narrative. These remain on the site, including a fabrication they inserted about President Ronald Reagan's tax policy to make it seem similar to Obama's. ... Using taxpayer resources to blatantly promote the president's positions on foreign policy -- and even editing the historical record -- is an egregious abuse of power.

Romney and Ryan Turn the Tables on Obama
By Michael Barone, August 20, 2012

Mitt Romney's selection of Paul Ryan was supposed to be a problem for the Republicans. So said a chorus of chortling Democrats. So said a gaggle of anonymous seasoned Republican operatives. All of which was echoed gleefully by mainstream media.

The problem, these purveyors of the conventional wisdom all said, was Medicare -- to be more specific, the future changes in Medicare set out in the budget resolutions Ryan fashioned as House Budget Committee chairman and persuaded almost all House and Senate Republicans to vote for.

But while Democrats licked their chops at the prospect of scaring old ladies that they'd be sent downhill in wheelchairs, the Medicare issue seems to be working in the other direction.

Romney and Ryan have gone on the offense, noting that while their plan calls for no changes for current Medicare recipients and those over 55, Obamacare, saved from demolition by Chief Justice John Roberts, cuts $716 billion from the politically popular Medicare to pay for Obama's politically unpopular health care law.

Christopher J. Conover | Forbes, August 17, 2012

Many differences exist between President Barack Obama and Congressman Paul Ryan. But the single largest one is $5.3 trillion. That's the astonishing difference between the cumulative amount of federal spending the former proposes over the next 10 years and the far lower figure that would result were the nation to adopt Rep. Ryan's Path to Prosperity.

Romney-Ryan Collaboration Began in 2007
By Michael Barbaro | The New York Times, Aug 17, 2012

It was supposed to be a 15-minute courtesy visit from a Republican with big presidential aspirations to a rising star in Congress with big ideas about how to address the nation’s fiscal problems.

Mitt Romney, who had just left office as governor of Massachusetts and was moving to the right on issues like abortion, was beginning to immerse himself in federal budget policy. Representative Paul D. Ryan of Wisconsin, who on that day in early 2007 had just become the top Republican on the House Budget Committee, was promoting a small-government libertarianism that within a few years would become Republican Party orthodoxy.

Inside the Longworth House Office Building, 15 minutes turned into an hour as the two men traded theories about how to overhaul Medicare, Social Security and the tax code, a pair of policy mavens out-geeking each other over esoterica like border-adjustable taxes. “We went deep into the weeds,” Mr. Ryan recalled in an interview.

Romney-Ryan Forces Americans to Finally Face Looming Fiscal Doom
By Ken Blackwell, August 21, 2012

We do not know who will win the White House in November. But we do know that American politics has crossed the Rubicon on spending and entitlements, and these issues will at long last complete the journey from a forbidden third rail to a central element of national politics. Even if Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan lose this year's battle to Barack Obama, they will win the war on the challenge of our generation.

Congressman Paul Ryan is best known for his budget, the Ryan Roadmap, which ties together the two sides of our fiscal-crisis coin: First, the major entitlements of Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid will soon be bankrupt and unable to provide for millions of beneficiaries. And second, our growing $16 trillion debt will result in an unprecedented economic disaster if not balanced and then paid off.

President Barack Obama and his Democrats are replying with the inexcusably-irresponsible argument that overhauling entitlements and balancing the budget are cruel and unnecessary. They cry that this will harm seniors and deprive people of needed benefits, willfully ignoring the reality -- with can be proved beyond doubt on a napkin using fifth-grade math skills -- that the status quo cannot and will not continue.

I wonder if many folks, under the age of 50, have a proper grasp of the gravity of what is at stake.

I'm not getting the sense, as I speak to people and see/hear various media that folks appreciate the impact that the doubling of the debt, over these past 3 years, has.

Try committing 85% of you paycheck to pay for interest and see how "sustainable" that model is. If it's east, then take another 7% and pay someones cellphone bill, who makes $70K a year.

We have some serious national problems that need serious solutions.

Also a bit scary that 3rd world hooligans no longer have any hesitation to attack American Generals.

Welcome to the Weimar Republic which did not have a happy ending.

We tend to delude ourselves because change is not apparent on a daily basis. The sun still rises in the east so everything must be good. Unfortunately, our $16 trillion debt will lower our standing of living and that of the next generation. Our military becomes weaker which invites aggressors which will in turn, lower our standard of living even more. Or worse.

The Liberal mindset simply must change or the only alternative is eventual dictatorship. It happened in Rome. There is nothing preventing it from happening in America. Especially since the current White House resident who shall not be named, clings to power by dividing Americans by engaging in race, class, gender, age, and religious warfare.

Romney Supports Audit of the Federal Reserve
By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times, Aug 20, 2012

Borrowing Rep. Ron Paul's presidential campaign push, Mitt Romney said Monday he thinks the Federal Reserve should face an audit.

"Very plain and simple, the answer is yes. The Federal Reserve should be accountable. We should see what they're doing," Mr. Romney, the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, said at a town hall in New Hampshire.

Mr. Paul, the Texas congressman who is still technically in the running for the Republican nomination, though he does not have the delegates to win it at next week's convention, made an audit of the Fed a chief part of his campaign.

Earlier this year, the House passed Mr. Paul's bill to grant the Government Accountability Office the power to conduct such a broad audit, though Senate Democrats have shown no inclination to bring that bill to the floor.

>>>>but will they truly be able to curb spending and find a solution before SHTF?

Absolutely.

It's time we, as a nation, . . quoting my Father . . . . "GROW UP".

Both Romney and Ryan have, independent of their widely disparate personal financial backgrounds, a keen sense of accountability and personal responsibility.

We've fallen subject to a collective, let someone else do it, national laziness. No need to work a 2nd job, the feds will pick up the tab for your student loans. That type of mentality.

That's not us.

In fact . . having likely met more Badweb folks in person than anyone else . . . I can unequivocally say it's damn sure not the population here.

I have faith in the folks I grew up with. We just celebrated the anniversary of Woodstock and, laugh if you will, my generation and my Father's generation . . . enjoyed, at the core of it's fiber . . . folks who dreamed and made those dreams come true.

The folks who built a battleship a week, the folks who invented the internet and the men and women who flew in space.

Americans are doers and we've been given candy, allow to sit and get dumpy.

That's not us and now that we'e had a glimpse behind the curtain I'd submit our values, sense of patriotism and love of our freedom have begun to grow new and sound roots.

We are Americans and are well, and proudly represented, among the most creative, most innovation and the best problem solvers in the world.

The first thing we need is someone who WANTS to solve problems, not perpetuate the national malaise.

It's time and the opportunity is there for us to seize.

The single best thing you can do is send money (like it or not, that's a HUGE part of a campaign) . . even if you send but $5 or $10 . . it's great . . and call the local Romney-Ryan office (if you are in Kansas, my 84 year old Mom will be the one you speak to) and offer to help, even for 2 or 4 hours.

It's up to you. . . . be part of a renewed America that looks like the one we are so proud of.

Romney-Ryan Ticket Is History-Shaping Choice
By Grady Means | The Washington Times, Aug 21, 2012

Mitt Romney made a wise but risky choice in selecting Paul Ryan as his candidate for vice president. He’s a good pick to stabilize the budget and Medicare as well as support global economic recovery and political stability. The election is now focused on the very highest stakes.

But the White House wants to fool Americans and trivialize the election.

The Obama campaign and much of the media are having a snark-fest and have immediately labeled Mr. Ryan as “radical,” “mean-spirited,” “small-minded,” “unprepared,” “nerd,” “boring” and so forth. Mr. Obama will argue that Mr. Ryan wants to destroy Medicare, that he is the enemy of the elderly, that he cares only about the rich and successful. All of this is false.

The radical Chicago anarchist Saul Alinsky was clear that when you can’t win the argument on the merits of the issue or your record, you must diminish, demonize and destroy your opponent. Alinsky has had no better student than President Obama.

The irony is overwhelming. Mr. Ryan’s “sin” is that he has designed a budget proposal to save Social Security and Medicare and put the United States back on sound financial footing.

This is WAY cool! Look who introduced Paul Ryan in Roanoke this morning:

quote:

Paul Ryan Takes Aim At Obama For ‘You didn’t build that’ In Roanoke
By Felicia Sonmez | Washington Post, Wednesday, August 22, 11:06 AM

When Paul Ryan visited the parking lot of a hardware store in this southwest Virginia city Wednesday morning, he didn’t just take aim at President Obama for the “you didn’t build that” remark he made four miles down the road a month earlier.

He also seized on a local bakery owner’s decision not to host Vice President Biden and his entourage this month.

In his sixth event in the Old Dominion since being named Mitt Romney’s running mate this month, Ryan was introduced Wednesday by Chris McMurray, owner of the Crumb and Get It Cookie Co. about an hour away in Radford, Va.

“How ironic that I would have the privilege of standing before you today and telling you the truth about small business in America — and of all places, in the beautiful city of Roanoke!” McMurray told the cheering crowd of more than 1,000 people as he introduced Ryan.

Speaking in the morning sun and with banners reading “We Did Build It!” in the background, McMurray told the crowd about how he declined last week when Secret Service agents approached him about hosting a visit by Biden.

“Nothing personal, but I just happen to disagree with the president and vice president on a few things,” he told the enthusiastic, mostly older crowd.

When Ryan took the stage, he joked of McMurray: “He just gave my speech!”

Ryan, at Roanoke County campaign stop, says GOP can spur 12 million jobs, 'reignite that American dream'
The Roanoke Times, Aug 22, 2012

Republican vice-presidential candidate Paul Ryan rallied an enthusiastic crowd of supporters this morning at Northwest True Value Hardware in Roanoke County.

Ryan cast the election as a choice between an “entrepreneurial society” – as represented by Ryan and presidential candidate Mitt Romney – or a “welfare state” as represented by incumbent President Barack Obama.

Ryan – flanked by Chris McMurray of Radford’s Crumb and Get It Cookie Company – repeatedly hammered the Obama administration’s approach to business, which they say was crystalized in his “If you've got a business - you didn't build that. Somebody else made that happen” remark during a speech last month in Roanoke.

“When Obama came into office, it was tough,” Ryan said. “He inherited a difficult situation. Here’s the problem: He made it worse. He can’t run on accomplishments. It’s a failed record.”
