Reaching in the vast wealth of knowledge that is Badweb...

Can anyone tell me what brand this connector is (I'm thinking Bosch, it is out of a German car)?
I'm looking to replace the wires coming out the back, so I want to buy new female wire ends to install inside this thing. Any store recommendations would be great!

Thanks!

If you can't find new pins, try removing the existing ones. There is a locking mechanism somewhere on the pin, you just have to slip something past it to release it. Sometimes a cocktail straw does the trick. Depends on whether it releases from the front or the back.

It appears to be a connector between the door and door post on a German car like those of a VW Passat that I once had.

Could you not get the other end from a salvage yard with the full length of it's wires to work with?

Most of these kind of plugs are proprietary to the car makers. VW won't fit BMW, or Fiat, or GM, or Ford, etc. That would make Bosch, Sylvania, 3M or the likes not want to make them available to individual purchasers.

I know if you have the year and make of car that it fits you will be able to order from the car mfgr, but, it likely would be costly and or difficult to order.

I guess I'm not explaining myself well.

First off, it is a door connector for a 2002 Audi A4.

I'm replacing the wires within, so I'd like to get new crimp/solder pins for the wire.

I know I can pop each wire out with a pick. then I want to insert my new wires, with my new pins... like this:

I'm trying to source the pins. I have the connector (but the wires are broken right at the back side).

So sorry Mike, I would be the confused one. Re-reading your post might have cleared that up.

I was thinking you wanted to plug into the plug, but you have that covered. You want to run new wires to new pins in the plug.

I had a source for those a while back. I know the ones that I was getting were for 3M plugs, I would think Audi has to be Bosch, I can check into it. Meanwhile, if you want to look, Granger is a good source for that kind of stuff.

Come to think of it, on my former '99 Passat, the wire insulation was dried up and broken off nearly all of the door wires in each of the hinge protect covers. I repaired mine with heat shrink.

The wires were all good and very flexible. The insulation was gone. A lot of fussy electrical stuff in those doors. Why they needed a computer in each door is beyond me.

Do NOT hit anything on or around the door post with a hammer! Mine was bent. As I was straightening it I found out that even with the battery out of the car, the seat belt explosive locks can go off! OMG did that hurt! A sprained wrist, broken blood vessels in my arm, and a ball bearing that shot out just missing my head, made for a tough day.

Check the dealer? They usually have pinout kits...

yeah we do for chrysler. it's very common for the door jumper wiring harness to break wires from all the opening & closing. i wouldn't be surprised if they have a repair kit. or the complete jumper harness assy.

While I haven't gone into a dealership to ask, I have looked it up online, and read of a dozen people with the same problem, they all had to replace the entire harness.

Forget that! I'll reuse the original pins if I have to.

Perhaps I'll give the dealership a call now that I have the correct terminology; "Pin-out Kit", fancy!
