My wife rides an SV650 and she was asked why she did not buy a Harley by another Einstein and her reply was that she wanted a "Real Bike". I love that woman.

Check out the video on the Pennsylvania Tourbillon. RGM bought out the machinery from the old Hamilton factory.... Doing it old school.

I've caught a tiny bit of ribbing from both Crotch Rocket and Hog riders... I usually park at the local burger joint ( Tom Wahls ) between the Hogs and Rice. I have good conversations with both.... sometimes the Hog riders are a little freaked by the Joe Rocket jacket... sometimes the Rice riders are a little freaked by the sound.... no matter.

I'm used to being on a mystery bike. All that matters to me is awesome handling and a machine that is more capable than I am.

I don't dis other bikes, or even scooters, unless they are real crap. ( sold at Pep Boys..... )

OOOOOOOOOOOH! LOVE the side glass eye candy!

Beautiful!

Beginning in 1979, the rush was to ditch those old time mechanical watches and move to the modern quartz watches. They were cheap, accurate, futuristic, and never needed maintenance other than to replace the battery.

90% of the mechanical watch manufacturers went bankrupt.

Wonder what will happen to the ICE market when electrics take hold.

The mechanical watch market is currently ungergoing it's second golden age because buyers want something that is unique, hand made, anachronistic if you will.

One day we too will pine for our old, loud smokey, leaky, dirty ICE motorcycles because they are old, loud, smokey, leaky, and dirty.

Beware what you wish for.

Very nice wrist wear but.... HOLY HANNA!
They sure are proud of that watch! I thought I missread the price. $95,000 in stainless. Even more for gold or platinum.
Cheapest they have is $4500.
Really nice stuff though.

"I did not realize that due to my topic title I was not allowed to post about another motorcycle manufacturer. I will be more careful next time."

I think that you've missed the point.
You started this thread making it seem like Buell owners catch crap all of the time. And yes, it happens occasionally.
But by putting the Honda comment in it shows that all makes catch crap sometimes.

Thats my point.
We arent getting it more than any others.

Many cruiser people get it cause they arent on a harley (often a HD clone)
Sportster riders cause it aint a 'real harley"
600/750 owners cause it aint a liter bike
and so on and so on.

Who cares.
Lots of talk about posers on HDs, yet some seem upset that people are talking bad about the bike they ride/own.

Today was a beautiful day for a ride. Caught no crap from anyone for my buell.

I don't own a RGM, or a Ferrari, but can appreciate both.

As to the buggy whip days of the ICE makers? Not yet. I'm actually very pleased to see direct injection, ( which may bring gas engines up to the economy levels of a diesel ) Valve control, ( see Fiat's MultiAir system ) and even better hybrids. ( never mind the buzz on the Volt, or the battery fire issues...or the "Bricking" issues some have. http://jalopnik.com/5887265/tesla-motors-devastati ng-design-problem )

I think electrics taking over en masse has to wait for 2 things.

1. MORE available electric power. New and more efficient power plants. Thorium, and soon, Fusion. You can't save a million gallons of gas by going electric without creating that energy in electric form to "fill the tanks" of the electric fleet.

2. Better battery. I'm hoping Carbon Nanotube Capacitors are the key. ( at least that seems to be the up and coming thing ) A capacitor system would let you relatively speed charge. 10 minutes in the commercial stations of tomorrow! ( and bus bars the size of your thigh to handle the current flows that can vaporize you! )

But I digress.

Hybrid has it right, every group has it's jerks that want to feel superior because of the cool shoes they own. ( or Bikes, cars, tv's... )

For the most part, the hazing is just a funny story, later.

"every group has it's jerks that want to feel superior because of the cool shoes they own"

BINGO
I've met Buell owners I didnt like/were cocky/jerks or whatever (I've seen people catch crap for the BLAST! from another Buell owner at a Buell event....)
Met some ass HD owners.
Met some jerk sportbike owners.
Met some rude cruiser owners ("looks like you bought the wrong bike for long hauls")

And Ive seen it in the car community.
Its everywhere.
People have their preferences and dislikes (look at the HD bashing here). And thats alright. We dont all have to get along.

"So you walked into a Harley store and walked out with that. Why would you do something like that?"

In my best game show announcers voice the correct answer is

" Blubb-Blubb-Blubb " the other Riders will get it.... ( Ref to South park episode on "fags" Eps 1213 )

" I Ride for fun and don't need to impress any one"

Ignore the " GAY PIRATE "
}

Clean motorcycles are suspicious. I reserve my right to be prejudiced against motorcycles that look like they aren't ridden. Doesn't matter what type they are.

To me a clean motorcycle is just as bad as a guy who goes into the bathroom just to comb his hair.

+1 Slaughter! Clean bikes tell no stories! ; )

There are haters for everything you love to do in life. Probably as many here as you'll find in any public setting. There are those who are down on Harleys, folks that don't grasp someone else riding without gear and especially those who take it real personally when you turn a Buell into a hardtail hotrod. Hey, there's even XS650 purists who cringe at the thought that I'm bastardizing a 3000 mile donor bike to build... dare I say... a chopper.

When you throw your leg over your bike; the ride belongs to you. Fork 'em if they can't handle your happiness. Really.

One day, riding with etennuly and oranjulius back from TWO with all my camping kit lashed to the back, we were passed by about 6 ricers at the south end of TN360- somehow I just HAD to catch them...

Did so, and passed all but the leader, on a ZX10, by the time 360 ended, and we all stopped at a gas station.

Not a one of them said a thing to me. I found it kinda funny...

Bitter people and people that have an inherit need to dis anyone for anything in a mean spirited manner cause me to feel sorry for them. Life is too freaking short to deal with people that get their rocks off being mean for the sake of being mean. It may be healthy to minimize time with people like that, they are energy drainers.

Good natured ribbing, yep, I'm the first at that party. If it comes from a place of competitiveness, or fun, or caring, and it's known the person is not going to take offense, I'm in. Laughter is a wonderful thing and its fun to be surrounded by people that yuk it up.

People have the right to their opinions, but my mama used to say, "if u got nothin' nice to say, keep that pie hole shut". Concurred.

I like clean motorcycles, but I'm OCD/anal retentive.

Then again, my bike is FILTHY right now. I only get to ride it a few minutes at a time because of work, and I'll be damned if I'm gonna spend what little time I got washing it.

I like a clean bike. I don't give a damn if you're suspicious. Right now, my bike and my feet are my only transportation, and I'm putting plenty of miles on. I keep my bike clean because I really like it that way, and I have a good bit of pride in my ride.
Next, we'll have people bitching because someone showers every day.

I shower nearly every day, sometimes twice (shock horror) because Mme G isn't too keen on the stink of diesel & oil.

Imagine the damage I'm doing to the planet.

On the other side of the coin, I wash my bike twice a year whether it needs it or not.
