Our small town has just brought home one of our own after he was killed by a road side bomb in Afghanistan. PFC Dustin Gross' body was brought in by police escort, ladder trucks extended with their flags and a volunteer who put up over 2500 American flags to line his route. Thousands of people; family, strangers and mourners lined the roads to pay their last respects.

Our community has really shown up in force to remember this young man and his family.
Now I'm reading that the scum of the earth may be here to protest his funeral on Thursday. I know they have a right to protest but this town and his family don't need these blood sucking vermin around. All I ask is that you think of his family on Thursday as they lay their son to rest.

I tell you, it really is something to drive down the main thoroughfare into town and each side of the street is lined with 3' X 5' American flags. I believe Dustin would be proud.

BTW, those aren't my pics, I borrowed them from a local person from another website. I'm going to try and get some of the flags lining Maysville Rd. It truely is awe inspiring.

Good stuffs to come from the ultimate sacrifice made by a young man.

WBC is ironically doing the opposite of what they seemed to have intended.

FYI: WBC claims they are coming to all sorts of funerals/events. They rarely show up to any that they claim they are coming to. It's a tactic they have used for years. They are full of bovine scatolgy on many fronts including but not limited to when and where they claim to be.

Yeah, I've heard from several people that it may just be lip service, almost as good as showing up but without the travel expenses. Although they did show up a few years ago one county over, their residents showed up on four wheelers, four wheel drives and basically ran them out of town. I think they made a couple of passes and left, most likely scared for their lives, and most rightfully so.

I would run there asses out of town also. That is so disrespectful to all involved. Better load the shotgun with rock-salt.

The Patriot Guard should be able to handle the problem, that is what they do.

That's good to hear, as I understand the Patriot Guard as well as Wounded Warrior Watch will be present. I have to watch what I say and do because I work in the mayor's office so I can't get too worked up but we've gotten a ton of calls about them protesting. Some are legitimate concerns others are just as wacky as the protesters themselves.

I'm surprised some of the old-school biker gangs haven't shown up to beat the ever living piss out of them.

They just want attention and opportunities for litigation. Try and avoid giving them either...
