Safety and security at what cost? What's the point of safety if we aren't free?

its an FCC, 'radio' device.

When can it be shut down ?...
with the flick of a switch.

'Snow White' a denial of service attack so direct and potent, it will fry most circuit boards

easy peasy - we did it six ways to sunday for decades.

you don't really think you 'own' your phone do you ? you barely lease its access, and if a certain agency wanted your full electronic life - rest assured it would be served on a platter - by lunch.

just because they can doesn't make it right for them to do it. keep in mind also that the ideals this country were founded on didnt even fathom where the world is today. we the people have the ability to choose leaders that won't trample our rights but sadly we have not done so. instead we choose guys that prey on the fears which to much is as bad or worse than the original intent of terrorist.

to take away our ability to communicate whether through 'leased' access or not is reprehensible to say the least.

to reduce/eliminate the peoples ability to assemble and express their displeasure in government action or inaction also goes in the face of a free people.

to do these things via subterfuge is even worse. the very idea that we as a people are basically being called terrorist by our elected/appointed officials is disgusting.

stay out of charlotte for the DNC event....
gotta love there special 'exception' zones and extraordinary event measures

http://www.alternet.org/newsandviews/article/92704 8/charlotte_plans_draconian_new_rules_for_protests _in_advance_of_dnc%3A_no_backpacks_allowed!/

And up to the same in Detroit for the meeting of NATO....

And in Seattle the last 3 days because of a fund raising event by Barry O.

(the florida farcus high rise hotel 'attack' was already covered)

That is what our OWN police and troops are doing....
Now take into account the 257 'free trade / tariff ' independent zones that China now OWNS on US soil (most notably the 50 sq miles adjacent to Boise Idaho)

America aint what you think it is - and wont be for a very long time to come.

The freedom of speech part of the first amendment isn't about talking on a cell phone. It's about not getting thrown in the gulag for saying bad things about the government. You do not have a constitutional right to talk on a cell phone. On the other hand, the Constitution doesn't grant the power to keep you from doing so to the federal government, so it is unconstitutional, just not under the first amendment. I'd say the 10th.

actually Hoot it is the 1st in this case. they are specifically prohibiting the people for speaking out against the government both through voice and through the restriction of organizing. of course cell phones aren't specifically mentioned in the constitution they weren't even imagined then.

The constitution was written by wealthy white men who were racist and homophobic. For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country.

Not only is free speech protected by the First Amendment but the SCOTUS has also held that mediums of free speech are also protected by the First Amendment.

If you can speak freely but have no way or location to conduct that speech, free speech doesn't really exist.

Be very cautious of ANY curtailment of free speech.

freedom of speach is porn for prisoners,
it is NOT the right to speak against the POTUS with loud volume nor large signs.

look around - you are kidding yourself.
some animals entirely more equal than others.

try pissing on an Obama chia pet and putting it in a jar and calling it art.....

good luck with that.

This is really a non issue guys. Just like the attack on religion and woman and our floundering economy and energy policies. The big story is mitt romney cut some kids hair in high school allegedly. Watching ed shultz last night he said the media clearly has not properly vetted romney.

You're right it's not and that is the saddest part. The elected officials in this country are no better than the nare do wells they are preying on fear and generating fear where there was none before to get the people to just accept this kind of treatment.
