Making a mistaken comment is no big deal.

Insulting others when the mistake is identified by them is unfortunate. Surely you can do better.

Being mistaken is no big deal. It happens to all of us.

Being able to graciously admit error shows good character and true integrity. It takes practice. I know this personally. : )

Some of you folks need to lighten and discuss politics or something!

PLEASE!!! no more flipping politics on this motorcycle board!!!

the same engines ran well every time out last year and finished all the races they entered. I kinda expect them to do the same the remainder of this season but then again in racing engines at high speeds and rpm's, anything can happen.

I can't wait till the next time out, I'm excited what is happening with EBR's race team this season.

Lying to me? I don't think anyone is lying to me. All I know is what I have read, and I have stated as such. You no read so good. You got something personal? Once again it's back to the guess what really happened game. And I don't expect Erik to do anything but race. I'd hope he had better things to do than hang here. Maybe it's all Obama's fault.

I hope you're talking to Frank.
A Custodian should be above calling people dicks, and liars, regardless of how they feel about a post, or the poster.
And Smokescreen, just re-read your post before you post anything. Evidently your bluntness is upsetting.

The point is that whether it's politics or motorcycles, folks here are going to argue.

The idea that if there were no political discussions Badweb would be a civil place is a myth.

If this place was nothing but the weather, we'd still be kicking people out for violating Badweb policies.

I would be interested to see where the valves broke. Some valves are 2 piece and are pressure welded together, the stem to the valve head. Seen some break right here on other motors. If that was the case I would be having a serious talk with the supplier.

And lest we forget, racing is what leads to all the improvements in our streetbikes. The break stuff and make it better.I have my own collection of broken motor parts from my racebike, learning experiences.

Jim thas the point it failed look at Boogis picture it failed right where the stem blends into the head. Is that a rotary pressure welded joint? Erik said it was aTi valve.

Isn't it a TI valve with a hollow stem?

The live timing on the AMA website is up and you can see every lap that every bike turned at Daytona. In the second race Geoff was consistantly had a higher trap speed than at any other time. There were speeds in other practices qualifying and the first race that was as high but not a whole race this high. I think the engine was just over sped for too long and bad things happen.
As far as Shaun's problems does any one know what gear ratio they were running vs the factory bikes.

Glitch,

No, not Frank. Though from what you say, he may be out of sorts too. Take it to the BBR though okay?

Glitch, don't think any of those skinny stemmed valves can be hollow.

If you guys didn't change it that may be the answer. Shaun was running in the low 180's but if the bike was geared for 175 the same thing would happen, and it probably has the Hp on the far side of the power curve to still pull the gear. Sounds to me that Daytona is kind of like Bonneville take more gear than you need and work into what you need from the too tall side. I can't get to live timing now it's only up when something is going on.

When we spoke to Shawn he wasn't at the rev limit when the valve fell off the stem.
