Charley had a play date with her and all went well. I have also enrolled Charley in obedience training.... and guess who else is there...GRACE! One of the volunteers is taking her to the class.
Meet our new foster, Elvira (Mistress of the Park):
We picked her up from the airport this afternoon. There's been a few grizzles from Tyler , but we think he's just setting the new kid straight on her place in the household.
She was very excited when we got her home, but overall well behaved and settling in nicely now. She spent some time just lying on the floor in my studio while I was working on some tunes, very cool
Issy is not so impressed and pretty much hasn't left Vamps side:
The cat is still in one piece, we're keeping them apart for the moment.
I love Elvira! I miss Bruiser. (my husky) I don't miss the hair EVERY where... but i kinda do
Lucy and Grace didn't hit it off very well. I think I would have a issue if I left them alone together. I can't force it... it just doesn't feel right and I'm kinda bummed. I was hoping it would be the right thing to do... but I know it wouldn't be... you know what I'm saying... looking for a sign... but the sign was "don't do it"
Well our 6th puppy has found a good home yesterday. These were from the litter in December. We are back to four adult dogs, three cats and a horse.
Of the people we were giving them to, two we had to pass on. It just seemed that they were not good people who would take proper care of a pup. It seemed that they would be in love with it for a short time. It felt good keeping them longer to be sure that they were going to good homes.
For me and the wife, it was nice not having to answer the barking puppy alarm telling us to take a puppy for a walk in the cold last night and this morning. On the other hand, we miss that.
Sad to hear things aren't working out with Grace for you Wolf. She is a stunner, so I should think she will find another good home though Girls are so touchy
It felt good keeping them longer to be sure that they were going to good homes.
Good on ya, Vern. Once upon a time, I was on a church trip as a teenager fixing up some people's homes who coudln't do/afford it themselves and one of the groups noticed a puppy who was always just chained up outside and teased/abused by the owners. The last day they were there, we (not me, personally) took the dog and found a better home for it before we even headed back home ourselves.

I got an email from the local Humane Society, letting me know they had a new lab pup in. I've been in touch with them and Animal Control a few times with Aster's ordeal, and they know the type of pups we like.
This is Aubrey, she's about 7-8 months old, probably 30 lbs or so. She was a stray, spent about 3 months with the famil that found her and they decided they cannot keep her. We went to visit with her tonight and she'll be coming home with us to foster her until she gets fixed on Tuesday. I suspect if all goes well, she'll just stay here.
It's been a bit of a trying time losing Aster, but also happy that we may have another furbaby to share our home with.
We were given a rednose pit on Monday who has to be the sweetest girl walking the planet. Now the task of blending the pack. She was obviously used as a puppy mill before my buddy " rescued " her. Try to get some pix up later.
She is a pretty girl. Heather picked her up this afternoon at the shelter, said she just chilled in the back seat of the car on the way home and was giving her kisses the whole way. She hung with us most of the evening, had accident #1 and #2 (numbers indicate severity) early in the evening, but it's a new place and she's not used to being here. She was going after sticks in the backyard, playing with a few toys and generally having fun most of the evening. 8 om hit and she was snoring on the floor at both our feet. She's now on Aster's old bed, with her new blanket, snoring away on the floor next to Heather's side of the bed. All and all, not too bad. She's a sweet pup, got a bit of time to feel her out, but overall doing well. Tomorrow will be a challenge for her, new house and in a crate until I get home for lunch and back in until Heather get home from work.
She looks like a lab, but has a thick wavy coat and is all of 29 lbs, with all of her grown up teeth- don't know if she'll get a whole lot bigger than she is.
She does seem to be a very smart dog though- just worked on a few basic things this evening and she seems to get them. Still need to decide on a name- Aubrey is a temp one (or maybe we'll keep it), the shelter calls them something different when they are pups and taken in, they've sometimes had issues with abused dogs and old names causing issues.
It's interesting to have a pup around again, it's been a few months and sometimes it catches me by surprise... She does rock though!
good luck with your new puppy Alex. I'm looking to adopt another Cocker Spaniel after losing mine in December. It's just no fun at home without a dog around.
