The environmental movement stopped being about the environment decades ago.

Communists are good about latching onto a cause and then using it as leverage to convince the masses to give up their rights and freedoms for the "greater good".

Global warming, global cooling, climate change....call it what you want, its about control.

I like the quote at the end about the models being "bunk."

Time should do a sequel to their series of 1970s Global Cooling cover stories.

Read "State of Fear" by Michael Crichton. It's a work of fiction, but may get you thinking about the whole global warming / climate change theory.

Great book and it includes references to support the ideas it puts forward.

Crichton's writing is mostly based in fact, romanticized upon by the author as is his liberty to do so.

Good, good stuff. Very fast reading though, I've always felt his books are too short.

Global Fooling.

When we moved to TN in '76, there was 13 inches of snow on the ground the first week of November.

My guess is that the pseudo science folks were doing what they are doing today. The temps are lower than normal and there is more snow, must be global cooling. The temps are higher than average and there is less snow, but be global warming.

I just plug away, day after day.

I still subscribe to George Carlin's theory - "if mother nature gets pissed at us, this planet will shake us off like a bad case of fleas".

In the meantime...God bless Gore-Tex and Gerbing's. : )

If you lived in isolation from the reports, you'd never know the difference in the weather.......other than it's cold for a while and warm for a while........switching back and forth.

How about a more reliable source than the frickin' Daily Mail?

NASA finds 2011 to be the 9th warmest year on record since 1880; 9 of the 10 warmest years in the modern meteorological record have occurred since the year 2000

1977, Unalaska, Alaska, so much snow we used the upstairs window for ingress & egress until the front door was clear. Steep roofs help. Red fox were so hungry, one would hang around for food, taking hot dogs from my (gloved) hand. My Boston Whaler road up on the ice as I attempted to cross the bay, gave up. The whistle pigs were easy targets for dinner.

One's blood thickens in an Alaska winter, by January one can tell it's -35 when it's cold enough to zip up the down parka.

I run hot and cold on this global climate change.

Unseasonably warm the last few weeks here.
Still not freezing this morning, high 30s ish °F.
Forecast though is dropping sharply, down to around 10°F end of the week.

I too subscribe to the George Carlin point of view.

My knees are too knackered to run fast enough to jump on any bandwagon these days, so I'll just be fatalistic about it & take what comes.
Not a lot of choice in the matter really.

Let me correct that.

9 of the last 10 years have had con men claim to be the warmest year on record.

And they are all lies. 1934 is STILL the warmest year on record.

And 1934 was still cooler than 1100. ( by all archeo-meteorological research )

There's a lot of money in the end of the world. Lots.

Pretending the federal gov't folks at NASA are somehow a better source of honest information about the climate is a joke.

Patrick (Aesquire) is correct.

Global Cooling suddenly becomes Global Warming and the proles willingly beg the government to take control of this new crisis to "save" us. This is right out of "1984".

DoublePlusGoodQuackThinkers some of us have become.

Do Badweb spuds born after 1975 even know that the hysteria used to be about Global Cooling?

Pretending the federal gov't folks at NASA are somehow a better source of honest information about the climate is a joke.

The only problem with that is that NASA (along with MET, and everyone else) was right on board with the global warming hype, as well as the previous global cooling/mini-ice age hype. Now we are supposed to believe them about a mini-ice age again? I don't think so. There is such a thing as moderate climate fluctuations that don't spell doom and gloom for civilization. The problem is that certain people/agencies are always predicting climate gloom and doom. No doubt someday they will be right, but few will listen to the boy that cried wolf so often in the past.

I sure hope we can get away from trying to regulate CO2 as a pollutant now. I think it's going to take quite a few more years though before many agencies make the shift to the new paradigm of having to cry ice age. Yes there is a lot of money at stake in convincing people that we are approaching the end of the world. Many have and will continue to take advantage. The UN is among the biggest at the moment. The mere idea that a political organization will produce good science is laughable at best. I pity the fools who fall into believing them.

You be the judge...

"The oceans will begin to boil."

Inconvenient truth: Sea level is decreasing, not rising. This despite the copious drooling of Dr. Hansen.

Some quotes from Hansen's former supervisor:
