Billionaire investor Warren Buffett has a challenge for congressional Republicans: For every dollar one donates to Uncle Sam to help pay down the debt, he will match it. done.... I'd say not. Rand Paul returned our money. When he gets HIS check book out... then we can talk |

Buffett is hypocrite. The reason he pays such a low tax "rate" is he doesn't draw a salary, it's all income from capital gains and dividends. The later is taxed at a much lower rate. Most of our effective tax rates are higher than his due to the fact we make our money from salaries not dividends etc.. Buffett is full of BS.. |

How is Buffett full of BS? He WANTS to be taxed higher. He, along with a couple other very wealthy people, has been calling for a heavier tax on the wealthy for a little while now. |

His offer was conditional, not unconditional. He can sign over %50 of all his wealth to the Federal Treasury without demanding any matches before I would ever consider his intentions genuine. |

So he is trying to get publicity instead of just simply putting his money where his mouth is? What would be his fair share union man? How much is your health insurance union man? I pay $157 per week for my wife and boy. A family member just had her 3rd child delivered care of tax payers like us and will some day move out of their 2 bedroom trailer for a more spacious no interest habitat for humanity home. They enjoy lcd high def tv's like us working folk do as well as cell phone data plans, game consoles and the latest handheld game systems. I digress though we almost have our health bills paid off for delivery of my baby boy and you can bet your entire fortune that he will grow up with a strong work ethic and a realization that life isnt fair and you dont get something for nothing. Hard work can pay off but hard and smart work pay even more. |

His income vs. my income? He'd have to match like $248M to my $1. He can play this game because he already has all the capital he will ever need or want. What he is proposing is to limit your ability to become him. THAT is disingenuous. |

I like how he's willing to "match" the GOP. No mention of matching Dems though? Strange. I've got a better idea, how about he stops fighting the IRS and pay what his company already owes in back taxes, and THEN we can carry on this publicity stunt? Don't want to believe it? Google "buffet irs dispute" for yourself & read up. |

Buffet is a thinly veiled politiko POS, nothing more, nothing less. He made his cake and ate it too, now he wants to make sure no one else can follow in his footsteps. Some need to do a little homework before upholding Mr. Buffet as some kind of hero of the people...... |

"He WANTS to be taxed higher" No, he doesn't. The tax increases that he's advocating would not appreciably affect his tax rate, because he doesn't have traditional income. He also vigorously pursues tax sheltered investments and hires hoards of tax lawyers to make sure he pays the absolute minimum he has to. These are not the actions of a man who wants to pay more taxes. You're being played. |

Warren Buffet has also pledged to give 90% of his assets to charities. If the US government were the best place to put it, why not leave his money to the Federal Government? He is voting with his feet and KNOWS that the money is better spent in private foundation hands rather than in the government coffers. Disingenuous. |

I don't think he is being disingenuous. He is playing the game by the rules our lobbyist.. I mean leaders have put in place. I think he is trying to shine some light on how great or tax system is. |

No, he is upping the ante. He got called out for not making contributions above and beyond what is legally required since he is advocating for higher taxes when the IRS has a form for such things. As a result, he's cooked up this scheme to up the stakes. |

the GOP are the ones saying that if you close all the loop holes you are raising taxes. and to be as frank as I can be here.... I'm sick and tired of the finger pointing, blame game bullshit.... its both sides giving us the a$$ pounding... They are having a three way with us... working us like a bucksaw bent over a log.... it doesn't matter who is behind us cause the other side is in front of us... telling us we have a purty mouth.... I'm going back to "Would ya ride with me if ya knew I was gay" thread.... |

I won't disagree that we're getting it from both sides, without the benefit of lubrication. But I do find it odd that the offer was made to only 1 specific group, and not towards the group who is continuously clamoring for more taxes, er, "revenue." We don't have a "revenue" problem. We have a spending problem. Giving more of the $$$ you earn to feed the leviathan will do nothing to put this country on a sound fiscal track. If anything, flatten the tax code. I'm getting sick & tired of working to pay for someone else to sit on their @$$ while watching their flatscreen displaying their current xbox game while talking on their new iPhone. This "gesture" is nothing more than very thinly veiled class-warfare, all to the benefit of 1 group. If he's serious about wanting to pay more, then have him pay his back taxes that his company has been disputing for the past decade to the tune of ~$1B (yes, a "B" not an "M"). Until then, this is just politics dressed as class warfare to push the message "Republicans BAD, Democrats GOOD." BS. They're all POLITICIANS who are making money off of us useless idiots who sent them to D.C. so they can amass personal wealth via insider trading that we can't hold them accountable for. <rant> |

How much is your health insurance union man? I pay $157 per week for my wife and boy. Too bad you're not hanging sprinkler pipe in Chicago. Then your employer would be kicking in $390 per week for health and welfare benefits ($9.75/hr*). Benefits, that I might add, are exempt from Obamacare taxes on "cadillac" health plans. for reference:http://www.state.il.us/agency/idol/rates/ODDMO/COO K9999.htm |

What is your yearly income union man? You want entrepreneurs and business owners/execs to kick in more so your buddies at Solazyme can continue to sell biofuel to our Navy at $16 per gallon as apposed to under $4 per gallon for jp5 fuel? Wasnt it enough though that an advisor on the environmental portion of the 09 stimulus committee works for solazyne and they recieved 20+ million in tax money? Kinda cool huh? One more reason zero supporters deserve four more years. |

Even if it is a fake offering. It is still better than what the GOP is trying to sell us! I agree, that Dems should be held to this same challenge. Lets see if anyone on either side of the isle will step up. Another rich guy's idea of how to fix things. The GOP Front runner...How can you defend this??? How about Romney? Hide your money Mitt, that's patriotic! He says he pays 15% tax rate. That is a lower rate than what our servicemen pay!!!Disgusting! http://news.yahoo.com/romney-parks-millions-offsho re-tax-haven-160547876--abc-news.html From article... ""His personal finances are a poster child of what's wrong with the American tax system," said Jack Blum, a Washington lawyer who is an authority on tax enforcement and offshore banking." |

BTW... Why is it that "Conservative, Christian, Republican, Right Wing" types feel the need to personally attack someone who disagrees with you? Anybody that puts forth an idea that challenges your point of view is immediately insulted and called names. It seems as though your minds are made up and that there is no middle ground. Anyone who does not agree is your enemy. The Golden Rule One should treat others as one would like others to treat oneself. I will continue to treat all of you with respect. Let your conscience be your guide. |

From article... ""His personal finances are a poster child of what's wrong with the American tax system," said Jack Blum, a Washington lawyer who is an authority on tax enforcement and offshore banking." I couldn't agree more. It's what's wrong with the SYSTEM. Why are you blaming Romney? Who is John Galt? |
