Got the Beasties on vinyl! Open it up, and it's a plane into a cliff. Ahhhhh, the memories of riding my bicycle through the neighborhood, hummin' the song Brass Monkey........

If you're wondering if they have any clout in the Industry...just look at the cast of that video.
Truly amazing for three punks from Brooklyn (their own words).
If you haven't caught them live....DO IT. Just an UN-BE-LEIVABLE show. Act I , when I saw them, was current stuff with a couple classics. Act II was a free-form instrumental session - and the last "current" song was 3 MC's and 1 DJ. On "god-damn that DJ made my day", MixMaster Mike just lit OFF into a solo that turned into the freeform session. Then...the encore from hell. Fight for your right. Brass monkey. Sabotage. Hey Ladies. Awesome stuff, for about 25 minutes.
I never got to see them live as the Beasties, but I did get to see part of one of their side shows doing a punk only set around the time of Ill Communication.
I'm not into hip-hop, but Check Your Head is one of my all time favourite albums. It's like listening to a really cool mix tape of all sorts of stuff, but it all fits
+1 on Check Your Head. We remember walking across the parking lot at the Orange County (FL) fairgrounds on our way to the entrance gate for Lollapalooza 2, and being amazed at how many of the tailgaters had that CD/cassette playing. Groovy. Gotta give props to "The In Sound From Way Out" CD for their instrumental stuff.
Not only have the Beastie Boys had staying power, but they have also given back. Check out their work with the Milarepa Fund benefiting Tibet.
