My point is that it sounds like he is replacing one form of hogwash with another. "Daddy said it is right, so it must be right" type of thing.
But they are his kids to raise. Why are schools pushing this hogwash, to use your term, in the first place? That right there is the root of the problem. Yet we can't even call Christmas break "Christmas break" any more.
Here's what you get when you don't question your teachers...
I just think it is wrong if they are brought up as zombies accepting everything thats thrown at them.
Perhaps you were too young to ride the Van for Janet Reno against the Branch Davidians. It's not too late jail the home schoolers, those in parochial school or the Boy Scouts. There are liberal "zombies" as well as conservative. I do not dispute the parents' right to raise their kids in whatever belief they choose.
BTW, the Feds won public approval for their assault on the Waco compound based upon allegations of child abuse. In the end, 20 kids died and of the Davidians who survived to stand trial, none was convicted of child abuse (I don't think they were even charged).
Not least because you've got the Piglet (Ms. Piggy reference ), but you've entertained me today with several great Muppets clips.
I am now a socialist, not to mention a bright red communist, a neighborhood organizer trained by Barack Hussein Obama himself, a hater of all that is American, an Occupy something or other, Deist, and, last but not least, a flaming liberal.
Hey Char- since I'm obviously a flawed/failed individual, not worthy of any tea party, can you help me embed this...
Hahaha- my GF hates the ringtone I've got for most incoming calls, the "most obnoxious ringtone" from that old Geico commercial... I must say, it's GREAT when I have the volume up and someone calls in with her nearby... she jumps about every time!
I've always wanted a ringtone based on that Muppets alien episode...

wow...that looks scary weird. I remember being annoyed by the advertising for that move, mostly because of my dislike of the actors and probably why I never had saw it. Is it good?

It's really funny to me when somebody who is, and always has been, participating in arguments or discussions in an online forum then decides they have had enough of it.
ie: "this place used to be so much fun", "I know others who have left because of this", or even "all you ever do is perpetuate pointless arguments"
BLAH BLAH FRIGGIN BLAH
Isn't EVERY online discussion or argument pointless? Do we really gain anything by engaging in discourse with people who are predominantly strangers? Isn't it STUPID to type even one more word in pursuit of your desired response, if in fact that is how you really feel?
Somebody is wasting their time, obviously. I mean, it's obviously a big waste of time to incite thoughtful debate with people you've never met, right? And it's obviously a huge time waster to post details about your personal life to get a little uplifting moral support when your string of bad luck starts to turn to good fortune, right? Of course, it would be obvious to anyone that posting personal triumphs or foibles which will be read by what amounts to a loosely associated band of troglodytes and subject to the commentary of said reptilian life forms would be foolish at best, no?
And yet, here we are passing (or possibly wasting) our time, each of us for his or her own reasons, barking at each other like dogs through a hole in the fence.

I remember back in the spring watching ketv sunday morning with my son. A cartoon of some sort was on at around 9am. Right after that a long show about an old folk band called the weavers. Care to guess what their political/social philosophy was?

Pwnzor, of course the Muppets are commies. They are from/of Sesame Street. The Prime reason for existence of Public Propaganda Media. ( radio, tv, same studios, same agenda. long before they started money laundering for islamic terrorist groups, they are the mouthpiece of the subversion of western civilization by neo-marxist thought. duh. ) The prime reason being, of course, to reach the children with the love of learning. "c-a-t, cat"
The evil propaganda efforts, while integral to the reason for existing, by design, doesn't mean that Public Media hasn't been a well loved baby sitter and teacher. The propaganda is usually a bit subtle, and completely invisible to those raised on it.
The American Kid shows are still a long way from Palestinian cartoons teaching that the Jews are animals and promoting suicide bombing.
The multicultural Sesame Street, ( despite it's hippie bend and PC nature ) is pretty darn nice compared to the evil crap used before to subvert the youth. To be fair, I didn't grow up with it, but was old enough that Sesame Street was a camp thing.
The Muppet Movie certainly has a propaganda part. But really, like Dances with Avatar, or all those sitcoms where the Father is a well meaning incompetent, you have to take it on it's merits.
Is it fun? Is the potential harm of the "hidden message" outweighed by positive life lessons? Will it keep the kids from destroying the universe while they are watching?
You have to balance this stuff.
I really wish I'd met Jim Henson. A few bits of felt, and a seriously warped mind with a genius for comedic timing. Thank you for the most famous Puppets in the world.

I'm sorry but none of this is news, this sort of thing has been going on for decades.
Even Andy Williams oppressed minorities, that poor bear never got any milk or cookies for that matter.
And that's all because those fascist tv producers wouldn't let mr clean Andy Williams give in just once& redistribute some of his wealth in the form of a glass of milk & a couple of cookies.
I bet Perry Como would've done it!
btw, be prepared for an air drop of sunlight lamps as some of you are obviously sufferring from SAD & need to get more daylight, or just out more.

Froggy,
"So because they are his property, it makes it right for him to brainwash them and not teach them to be free thinkers to make educated decisions for themselves?"
My children are no one's property, and all I have done is to do exactly as you suggested: Get them to think for themselves. And it isn't just their social studies teachers who are doing this, its the match and science teachers too. It is pervasive.

Wow... do you guys actually think it is "that" impossible?? That whole subliminal message thing doesn't happen anymore?? I am not saying it does or that I believe it does, just saying that it is possible.

speaking of buying the product. .... with the damn amount of revenue Tickle me Elmos and all his variants are churning, there should never be another PBS telethon pledge drive. get Elmo to pay for the trype and cut the cord from DC.
