Remember the summers of yester years? Rumors, speculation, spy photos, dirt bikes, BOLD NEW COLORS, ChadHargis crashing a dealer meeting and sitting on an 1125R a few minutes after its announced. New Erik Buell Racing bike(s) are about to be announced 11/1/11! What are they going to release? What are you going to buy if they make it for 2012? What I think they are going to do: Release a cheaper 1190RS called the RX and a "S" version called the SX @ +/- $15K Maybe even an electric bike called the AX. Batteries in frame? What I would buy new if I had +/- $15k new bike budget: 1190 Uly Multi-Strudel killer or project "sugar" (3 banger sportbike) What I need them to do: Find a real fix for the 1125/1190 stator. Perhaps "lets hope Erik Buell Racing releases a charging system package for the 1190 series that coincidentally happens to work on other motorcycles also" would be better? | ||

Court, I'm sure the Buell folks did not present the Charging System Upgrade harness/relay as the proper solution. So, one can imagine they, being smart engineering types, recommended either A) 2008 stator/rotor, B) oil jet, C) or ? Inquiring minds want to know. | ||

Look for the Buell engineer that had sufficient "big brothers of his own" and took the Harley golden handcuffs (NDA) and told them to shove them. (cough-B-cough) <-- an intuition I gathered lurking and listening to various public statements. | ||

Unless someone presents evidence of another solution submitted by BMC, I cant believe that the BMC engineers found a real solution. If HD ignored this proposed solution how do you explain the upgrade kit issued by HD after the closure that has done nothing to fix the problem? I don't really care to point fingers as far as fault for my bike needing a $1000 charging system replaced every 4000 miles. I just want to ride. I need an affordable solution or a "for sale" sign. The way I see it, if Erik Buell Racing knows of a valid fix for this worthless system, Erik Buell Racing could possibly make some good coin on a kit that cost less than the $1500 of parts to only prolong failure. It might be in their best interest before word gets around that 1125R owners either under charge or eat a stator every 5000 miles. I just want to ride. Spending $1000 every 4,000 miles for a stator is not part of my plan. I will be selling 1125 as soon as it gets its newest backordered stator. Knowing that the only problems I have ever had with my 7 Buells I have owned is electrical issues, that completely rules out my purchase of any of the upcoming rumored electric bikes. Funny. My 2010 1125R with 12000 miles on it is still on its original Stator. All you angry people regarding the Stator failures are angry at the wrong people. If it bothers you that much than contact HD or sell your bikes. Way to turn a positive thread regarding the future of Erik Buell Racing and make it negative as per the norm it seems around here. | ||

I am not upset that my stator is going bad it's OK I bought the bike super cheap so I will get over it, but the fact that Rotax just keeps sending me to HD when I try to find a permanent way to fix the problem and never gives any info just answers with the typical spin has me put off a bit.What happens next time? What happens if I buy an Eric Buell Racing product and a similar problem arises? Trblnt your lucky so far and I am happy for you. Rest assured it's luck though. I will buy and put in an 08 set up and be done with the problem, I will however be vary vary wary on any further Rotax product I purchase if I do purchase one at all. When I pay 5K for a bike and get a problem it's no big deal but if I pay 15K then it's a big deal. Court's insight helps ease my sentiments and feel much much better about things to come even confident but the Rotax factory reply, to contact H-D ?WTF? has me put off that's all I feel. I don't blame Buell or even Rotax I just don't like the way it's been handled. | ||

I'm just excited to see what Erik Buell Racing releases next: Whatever it is. Then I'll make my assessment. I seem to be into multi-purpose bikes as of late. Got me a big-ol enduro to tinker with this winter. Got an itch for some trail riding next season that needs to be scratched. | ||
