"Hey Spike, whaddaya like?!!!!" Thanks for the info! Chances are most of the Buellers will be bombing N GA, but if my plans to be in the bombing raid fail, then I'll CYA there! OK all- I'm considering renting a cabin at Copperhead, based on Vern's recommendations... not been to the website to inspect, but I've got good word that the folks that run it are A+, with all the fixins. Ideally, the expense for one would be split four ways- IIRC Vern told me that the per nite was about $169, but if we're "cool", "lucky", it might be less. Bueller? |

we definitely need to have the talk about how to "ride your own pace" this year before we take off on our first day of btf. id rather not have people launching bikes off cliffs, or others down through the ditch in the first 20 min of riding again... |

I don't mind being the "den mother" to conduct that talk. I agree completely. There are always folks of varying skill levels many of whom have not ridden with the group or know what to expect. When we have 3 crashes in the first half hour of riding, it makes for a long and unfun weekend. |

If you want steady, I'm your man! My racing around & competing with other riders has been over for a looong time! I would rather enjoy the ride & arrive safely. (I was coming on the Blast but I have a new (to me) Uly in the garage as of 1000 this AM so I will probably be on that!) Chris C |

Bring the Uly! You won't be disappointed. We can even point you to some light off road roads to play on while you are down. |

Gotta work out how to get on & off it without kicking anything first! it's the biggest bike I have ever owned! Still, it gets registered tomorrow & I have all weekend to get used to it. I am very much looking forward to getting acquainted with the Uly. It will have to be very light off road stuff. I bought the Uly 'cause my knees & back are having a torrid time on the X1. Chris C |

I think what you'll find is that the riding position on the Uly is fantastic for both knees and back regardless of the road conditions. Getting your feet around the boxes is a challenge for sure particularly if you are "height challenged". |

the pace carried by some will not be for everyone. some call it "ludicrous speed", some call it "holy crap" i just say its time to dance with the devil, see whos got the better footwork... seriously though, no one gets left behind, and the pace is not ALWAYS quick. even some of the riders with less self preservation like to enjoy the scenery from time to time. im ready to ride on some good roads! no track days this year and only one trip into MO for some riding does not quench my thirst for ribbons of wiggly asphalt. |

+1, Rice- I "know" all the roads well enough to THINK I'm OK at those speeds, but pull back about 25% or more to be safe. Wolf Pen Gap is always fun , but ALWAYS sporting a new hazard, EVERY time I run it. The best part about BTF or any ride is getting back EVERYONE, and popping a brew to yak, gab, and eat... with all youn's!

Sometime tomorrow I'll investigate Copperhead Lodge, rates, etc.- still waiting to hear of anyone who cares to split costs for a decent cabin. (My main goal is access to a hot tub and a few good soaks after burning up the roads...) Holler! |

Squids, The "bunk house" is also a great, low cost option if you can't find a cabin mate or two. It's in the basement of the main lodge and holds 8 people. Bunk beds. Right near the bathrooms and showers. The main lodge is where the restaurant and bar are. |

Yeah, Vern mentioned that... just my old aching body would benefit greatly from a few hot soaks. When the day comes that I can build my new house (!), a ginormous hot tub will be required... |

Friday at Copperhead for dinner sounds great! I did a little prerun today. I sure do not get to ride enough anymore. What a beautiful day it was. The leaves are about four days into turning, the temperature was around 70 all day. The weather folks are calling for more of the same for the end of next week. Looking like sunshine 70's and at night the lower 50's. There were some leaves and sticks on a couple of back, back roads, but all is well with that. PM me if you are coming to the lay over BBB Thursday so I can get a rough head count. |
