Osama Bin Laden and now Anwar al-Awlaki. Our President is obviously not the DOVE you all predicted he would be. |

Yay! Another one down. And since it is a Democrat in charge, we don't have to listen to the left whine about how bushitler is targeting American citizens without trial or due process. |

Killing a US citizen in a foreign land without a trial for the words he spoke. I'm not sure this is the right direction. |

Guy was a traitor. I'm just glad there'll be no televised hand wringing on the part of the left for this violation of his human rights. |

He was a traitor. I'll shed no tears over his death. Still, I'm not clear how it can be justified under any law. He wasn't in a war zone. He didn't participate in combat. It's an act of war against another sovereign nation. The left SHOULD be hand wringing over BO's actions. |

As any US citizen if you are armed dangerous and are resisting being arrested you will be shot and will have a very good chance ending up dead. No difference. Let the bastard burn in hell. Al |

We are at war and he is a combatant on the other side. Hitler never pulled a trigger but we would have killed him if we could have. Just because the drones allow us to be very precise in targeting strikes against the enemy I don't see any reason not to use them. |

Did the drone try to arrest him? I doubt it. There is a difference. Was he armed? I don't know. I've never heard of him shooting at people. We are at war and he is a combatant on the other side. Hitler never pulled a trigger but we would have killed him if we could have. Hitler commanded the German armed forces. All I've ever heard about this guy is that he encourages people to join the jihad. I think you could make a pretty good case for inciting violence, but is that a capital offense? Without a trial? |

Personally, I believe a terrorist is ALWAYS in a war zone, as they conduct their war from wherever they are. From the dead dude's perspective, Americans anywhere any time are valid targets, and that makes HIM a valid target anywhere any time. Case closed. |

So... Unionman does he also get the credit for killing Brian Terry(Fast & Furious)and throwing away 1/2 billion dollars confiscated from taxpayers on Solyndra? You know, since he didn't actually pull the trigger that killed bin Laden or al-Awlaki? Does he also get credit for 9% unemployment? Just wondering. |

I'm just having some difficulties with the implications of this. Just asking a few questions. Keep in mind that the premiss of these questions is regarding a suspected terrorist who is not actively about to kill anyone and is a US citizen. Would it be OK to kill terrorists in the US with drones? Would it be OK to just shoot them in US streets with absolutely no warning? Who gets to make this decision? I'm really not unhappy that this guy probably looks like a paint ball now, but I have to admit that I have some uneasiness with how it was accomplished. A nice quite assassination via sniper might have been a better choice. It just feels like we are starting to slide down the proverbial slippery slope. |

Here's a question that I hope I can get a good answer to. Exactly what were his acts of terrorism? All that I'm aware of is his speech. It is possible/likely that I'm missing some facts here. |

ALL members of Al-Queda are wartime targets and must be granted their wish of having 72 Virginians in the afterlife. Seriously, if you join Al-Queda, then you must die or be taken prisoner. It doesn't matter if you were an American. Al-Small-ickee was a man without a country. (Message edited by reindog on September 30, 2011) |

I do find the title of this thread hilarious. The CIA takes out a man with a million dollar missile and Obama is a "bad ass"? I think someone is trying a bit too hard to find something, anything to say about their partisan leader. |

So would it have been justified to bomb these people when they were protesting the killing of OBL? Clearly they are on the side of AQ. Here's a link if you want the background on the picture. http://atheistatlarge.org/2011/05/angry-uk-muslims -protest-bin-ladens-killing-while-obama-visits-dow ning-street/ I have to admit that I'm very conflicted on this one. |

Speaking to the title of the thread I would imagine you union man to have trade skills that require hands on physical work of some kind where the fruits of your labor are real and have value. If youre like union folk around here you probably know how to change the oil in your car, sharpen a mower blade, fix a leaky faucet and grill a fat steak. These are some skills most men posess. So Iam surprised to see you using the title of badass to someone who struts the way he does and throws out a first pitch in the manner he did and fill many of his cabinet appointments with men and woman who buck gender normalcy and who couldnt do the normal everyday stuff men have to do. Great job by our military no question but my real interest is how guys like yourself can see totus in the light that you do. People like holder, emanuel and bramma are on a completely different planet than people I call men. Maybe it was a strong father figure absent from their lives never learning how to throw a ball or any average task these men dont seem capable of doing. When you see GWB with Veterans its very clear he's on the same planet as the rest of us. |

I remember when Bush II was trying to take down Saddam and some righteous liberal was upset that we didn't just send Sgt. Friday over to Iraq and arrest him. I couldn't quite figure out if the guy was serious or was joking. I don't see why when someone else is preaching for killing Americans, that we can't go take them out? I am really surprised that Israel has shown the restraint that they have and haven't taken that Iranian fruitcake out yet. |

I do find the title of this thread hilarious. The CIA takes out a man with a million dollar missile and Obama is a "bad ass"? I'm no fan of our current president, and this hardly proves he's a bad-A, but I think it's only fair to give the man some credit for these two accomplishments. We would have certainly given him hell if we found out he'd declined to take action to take out OBL or this guy once they'd been located. |

I would put the threat of the Iranian navy on a par with that posed by the Swiss navy. A nuke on the tip of a scud would make for a nice EMP attack from near our shores. Hard to say how far away from that they are. Doing that to NYC might be worse than actually hitting directly with the blast. Reading some of the wiki link on Mr. Paintball has me feeling better about the label terrorist. I'm still pretty conflicted. |

President Obama did increase the number of missions we're flying into Pakistan where the bad guys are hiding (in plain sight some say) and to a great degree, that has been more successful than waiting for them to cross the border, or be near the border. Bush was concerned about upsetting Pakistan, and Obama doesn't appear to be. Personally, I think we have more enemies in the Pakistani government/military than we have friends, and this shoot first, ask forgiveness later idea isn't hurting us at all. I think he's doing the right thing, and I do give him and his policy of stepped up attacks in Pakistan credit for this dude not being around any longer. The massive military industrial complex that makes all this magic possible should get most of the credit of course. Too bad DOD is on the chopping block. I wonder whether the president and his party are beginning to appreciate the importance of a strong military? |
