Ok I am all for a good debate/discussion, but these are getting ridiculous, I could post up a thread that just says, "Republican" or "God" and itd turn into a big 10 page long sh!t show..... First- I am a CHRISTIAN, and a firm believer in JESUS CHRIST as ALL of OUR saviors. Nothing ANYONE says or does will EVER change that. You don't agree? AWESOME!!! you can thank GOD for free will. Second- I am fairly conservative, although i am very open minded. I just figured it'd probably be the most popular board with how the quick board is goin here lately. Everyone, believe what you want to, enjoy it I know what makes me happy, and makes my quality of life significantly better, so I'm gonna stick to it. Have a GREAT day/life. and GOD BLESS YOU ALL!! This issue arises every month or two. There is nothing wrong with squawking on Quick Board. Don't open a thread if it tweaks you. Simple. (Message edited by reindog on September 17, 2011) |

actually this is suppose to be a MOTORCYCLE forum so we don't need either politics or religion threads here! In fact if we could just stick to talking about motorcycles, it would improve this website! that's just an opinion of a old time motorcyclist! Me! |

"For general Buell, non-Buell and other moto-related talk or whatever else is on your mind." I think religion and politics fit into the whatever else part. Don't like it, don't read it. Use that free will. I personally enjoy thoughtful debate on political and religious issues. (Message edited by darth_villar on September 17, 2011) |

As long as we avoid arguing about the opera, I think we'll be okay. |

Why just pick on politics & religion? Also current topics include Jeeps, Fiats, Reno air races, guns, data recover, blond racing, farting, TV purchases, knives, music, applying for federal employment (non-political BTW, at least the last time I looked), catalytic converters on cars, 9/11, football, a physics demonstration video, cell phone plans, "Where's the little girl" (very funny BTW), drug testing, "Schweddy balls", earthquakes, selling gold, guitars, multiples threads on pets, hurricanes, TV repair, etc. That's without scrolling halfway down the page. Politics and religion are a small part of the off topic threads. It's easy to avoid the threads that you don't care about. Just stop clicking on them. OTOH, I have managed to learn a boatload of stuff that I otherwise wouldn't know about. Life is a bit messy sometimes. Deal with it. |

What's the objection to having a separate politics and religion board? If enough people are bothered by having so many discussions about those topics, then why not have them in their own section? That way, the people who don't like seeing such topics on a motorcycle forum, and who may have useful information about Buells, will feel more inclined to participate. There are many former members who seldom participate in discussions here any more, and when asked, will state that it's because of the politics. (Message edited by Crusty on September 17, 2011) |

But this is the "or whatever else is on your mind" bucket of BadWeb already. Do I then get to choose to have all ball sports banned from the quick board too? I also don't want to read about Jeeps and Fiats! Guess what I do about that. I just don't read those threads. How easy was that?

It's probably not a matter of over-using the Quick Board; it's a matter of under-using the other boards. |

You're missing the point. If there are enough people who find political and religious threads objectionable, then why not put these threads in their own area? There used to be a Backfire Board, which was created specifically for heated controversy. Where did it go, and why was it abandoned? |

If you dont like the religion and politics threads, dont read them? Is it really that hard? You cant post new threads to the backfire board, they have to be moved there. |

De Fleidermaus is definitely superior to Tosca! - Discuss. Are you kidding me? Wagner sees 'em all off!!! And as for Tommy or one of Lord Weber's dire creations, I'll take anything by Rick Wakeman. Returning to the original subject, I'd appreciate some kind of warning in the thread title & some restraint in the hijacking department. By that I mean if you're creating a political or religious thread please make it obvious enough in the title for those of us who aren't interested, & please please please can we cut out the hijacking into name calling & p*ssing contests in threads that have no political or religious theme to them. Personally I find it disrespectful to the thread's originator. I don't participate in the R/P debates much as I'm no good at it & find it a pointless waste of time arguing with people who's opinions I disagree with & who aren't going to be changed by anything I might say. There! That's my opinion fwiw. |

So anyway, I've always thought Pavarotti was a jerk. Kathleen Battle? Well, we're all entitleed to our own opinions about her aren't we? But seriously, did you know that there is a real racism against American Black opera singers? Do the research. It's an outrage. My favorite opera? Die Fletermaus, but only because I don't know any better. Is this post outside the lines? |

Also I need to call Al and order up a half dozen more because my supply is getting low. What's that you say? No. No I will not ease back on the wheelies, Just can't do it. Sorry. |

There are also those who like political and religious discussions. That's obvious. So why not give them their very own area where they can discuss the merits and deficiencies of their favorite religion or political party without offending the forum members who dislike such discussions? There are separate areas for people who like Tubers, or Blasts or 1125s or Racing; why not an area for Religion and Politics? Leave it so that forum members can start their own threads if they want to; as opposed to the backfire board, where a Moderator has to move a thread. Wouldn't that be better for everyone? |

It's not necessary. There already is a section for discussions NOT related to motorcycles. It's called Quickboard. If you want exclusive motorcycle discussions, there are separate ares for people who like Tubers, or Blasts or 1125s or Racing. Odd for someone who hates political and religious discussions to continually participate in political and religious discussions. |

There should be a separate board entitled "Crusty's Corner". Like most things in life, you can never please all people all the time. Quickboard, as spelled out in its charter, is fine as is. There is no need for Balkanization. Crikey, if there was a religious topic only board, someone would complain that Pagans and Wikins were posting there and should have their own board. Oops. Apologies to Hex. -"Shifty" Tom. 9/17/08 PS: My 06 Uly is a great motorcycle and needs a new home. (Message edited by reindog on September 17, 2011) |

Quickboard, as spelled out in its charter, is fine as is. What charter is this? I've been on this board since 2001, and I've never seen this charter. I also find it interesting that you choose to attack me personally. I didn't start this thread, I only expressed my opinion as being in agreement with the original poster, yet you have singled me out. This is in direct violation of your user agreement that states no personal attacks. There are many who feel that politics and religion are topics to be avoided, yet some people persist in inflicting their views on everyone else. It's like the inconsiderate jackass who drives at exactly the speed limit in the passing lane and refuses to move over to the travel lane, so that others can proceed at their own speed. |

seriously, how is it being inflicted upon yourself if you continue to read them? It appears that it would be self inflicted if you choose not to ignore them. What was it that Einstein said about insanity? |

I guess you missed the winky-dinky emoticon with my post. Crusty, Badweb has lost a lot of members over the years because of your comments. That is why we need a separate board called "Crusty's Corner". Heck, we need a separate board called "Reindog's Romper Room". How about "Blake's Bog"? Or "Fatty's Funhouse"? Chilleth out. I love political screeding. Let the Badweb community sing in unity across this great land: "ObamaNo in 2012", "Conservatives Rule, Progressives Drool", "Yes on No", "Teabagging isn't just for homos anymore", "Liberalism is a Disease, Conservatism is the Cure", "Free pizza isn't free", "Pelosi got millions and all I got was this lousy bill", "Ayn Rand was Right", "Class enemy, Erik Buell, made more than $250K", "Fairness is ultimately unfair", "Cain is Able", "Barack-O!" "Washington on Ten Billion a Day", "Its 11PM, do you know where your god is?", "Victimization for fun and profit", "Rules for Republicans or Republicans Rule?" "John Galt in 2012" and the Number One favorite R&P thread: "Crusty LIKES Green Eggs and Ham!" (Message edited by reindog on September 17, 2011) |
