It all depends, Champ. Arai is one of very few makers that make several different head shapes, including long oval. If you have a Profile model Arai, you have the long oval model, and the short answer is that you probably won't find a modular, or any other type of helmet that has that shape except perhaps a Shoei, if memory serves. |

After driving 40 minutes to a big cycle store and trying on some of the big brands I was dissapointed somewhat. The cheaper helmet "gmax" was the one I liked the most. Competition accessories online store had it for $118 and my local cycle shop agreed to match it. I rode with it on today and it was so nice compared to my junky old one. I dont think I could go back to riding without the internal sun shade. Some of the more expensive brands had sun shades but you coyld tell their design of the mechanics of the shield were not well thought out or the shield itself was just not dark enough to work as a shade. I was impressed with a shoei in terms of mechanics and quality but it didnt have an internal shade. |

Timo31 I think that's it. I can't be sure because I remember thinking it looked really odd folded back but that pic doesn't look too awful bad. Thanks for finding it, I'll be sure to check it out when looking for another helmet. |

Timo, that Evo helmet looks like it uses the same mechanism as the ROOF (which isn't legally available here in the States). |

I had an HJC SY-MAX 2...flip front. I had it for about 2 weeks when my buddy knocked it off my seat. It fell from the seat and hit the concrete floor of my shop. The entire flip front broke off, both sides, and was in two pieces!!! I couldn't believe it! What would have happened if I would have crashed? Scary! I called HJC and they said send it in for them to look at it. I sent it in, in hopes they would stand behind their product. They replyed and said that any Helmet should be replaced after a drop like the one I described. Not covered by manufacturer warranty. F.U. HJC!!! I will NEVER own a HJC again. I will only wear a FULL FACE Helmet from now on! I am not risking my pretty face to a couple of hinges. I now wear a Shoei 1100. I am happy with it. |

As I've pointed out before: I've "tested" a couple of Schuberth modular helmets and in neither case did the jawpiece fail. In fact, in at least one "test" I hit the jawpiece directly based on the damage to it and the rest of the helmet. YMMV. NO helmet will protect you 100% of the time. |

I just went helmet shopping myself. I really wanted a modular because I wear glasses and they are a pain in the tookus. My HJC 3/4 fits well, has great visibility and is very light, but it is so noisy I couldn't stand to ride it except around town. I tried a Scorpion modular, which fit well and seemed a good value for the money but it was SO heavy I couldn't believe it. I have a plate in my neck so I try to be nice to my neck. I wound up getting a Shoei Qwest. The full face is a pain with my glasses but it feels really secure and is super quiet. I was having a problem with face shield fogging but then I discovered there is this little breath deflector that I have installed but not tested yet. So far I'm happy with my purchase. |

Bell has some great features and looks great on paper, including the optional phototinting face shield and built in sunshade that allows riding without sun glasses, but it is the noisiest helmet I've ever had. It could be just where my ears end up in the helmet (they're not a lined in the ear holes), but TRY ONE before purchase. It is a very cool helmet |

Everybody says "Try the helmet before buying." The reality is, the only "trying" you can do is to put it on in the dealership. You don't learn how it works on the bike until AFTER you've already purchased it (and for health reasons, no one will take back a helmet after it's been worn). Makes no sense to me, because even when you buy the helmet; unless the helmet is in a sealed box, you have no idea how many heads it's been on before yours. |
