Yeah... like any liberal saying something like "recession started before Obama" means anything other than "it was Bush's fault".

Cowboy gets a giant sized +1 for the sponge reference.

I think Obama was right in the middle of the root cause of the financial meltdown. He was one of the community organizers helping to strong arm banks into granting risky loans. His cronies in congress worked the other end and got gov't backed entities fannie mae and freddie mac to guarantee them. When the Republicans including George W. Bush sought to strengthen the regulation of the mortage industry, specifically the sub-prime mortgage industry, they were met with indignant outrage by Democrats telling us that there was no reason and that it would only hurt the poor.

I'm sorry, I know that Bush and the Republicans should have done more, but it was the Democrats who instigated the whole mess and then blocked the reform that would have prevented the crisis.

Then it turns out that a BUNCH of the Democrats blocking reform were getting sweetheart loans from organizations interested in maintaining the status quoe, another, Barney Frank, was dating a man who worked at fannie mae. The corruption is unbelievable. Don't even get me started on Harold Reins or that denizen of doom Jaime Gorlick.

UNBELIEVABLE!

Those are the facts as I've learned them after some serious study on the issue.

Anyone knows any different, please enlighten me.

It's pretty sad that the last resort of Obama and his supporters is the political equivalent of "I didn't start it. He did."

Let me ask this question ... what if significant recovery started just prior to Bush leaving office that lead to above average GDP and Job growth. Would you be giving Bush credit for that or would you say that was all because of Obama?

In other words, whenever anything negatives happens, it never has anything to do with Obama, his policies or leadership. It's always someone else's fault ... always some other outside influence causing all the problems.

As an independent who does not care much for any politicians or any political party, I think the absolute void of leadership and accountability in the White House is pretty sad and pathetic. And the apologists who just point fingers need to wake up and take an honest look around them.

The only corporations I see getting hand outs are the 'green' kind, other than farmers. The others get tax breaks, just like you do. A deduction is different than a credit. Congress uses the tax code to effect social and economic change, for better or worse...usually worse. I don't like it, but you can't blame corporations for taking a tax deduction. Will you give up your mortgage interest deduction, or your standard deduction if you don't have a mortgage?

>>> Corporations that had their hands out only to shove every coin in their pockets before it ever trickled down.

Please explain. Do you mean GE? No federal income tax and a CEO who serves Obama? That one? Or are you talking about GM, which was handed over to the union? I'm not following your logic.

You do understand that "corporation" is just a word that means a business owned by people. Do you have a 401K with mutual funds? Then you are part of the corporations you seek to demonize. Do you work for a corporation?

Do you really not realize that you are parroting Marxist class warfare every time you badmouth the big bad "corporation"?

It blows my mind how leftists are so keen on badmouthing business. Well, unless the CEO works for their man in the White House, or the corporation has been handed over to a union versus the folks, bond-holders who kept it afloat. No, they are out of luck.

Do you have any inkling of how outrageous the current business climate is right now? Why would anyone invest into growing business when the president demonizes success and profit, rams socialized health care down our throats, and threatens increases taxes on "the wealthy"?

I sure as heck wouldn't.

This president is clueless when it comes to free enterprise and what has made America so successful. He has no idea about actually running a business and earning a living in the private sector. He's been on the gov't dole since college. He kicked off his political career in the home of two friends, former terrorists Bill Ayers and Bernadine Dorn, unrepentant.

He won his primary state senator after the sealed divorce records of his two opponents were inexplicably made public.

He spread his social/political wings as a member of a radical racist "church" in Chicago, obtained an unimaginably sweet deal on a home and additional real-estate thanks to his friend, convicted felon Tony Rezko.

He appoints avowed communist revolutionary, Van Jones, to be his "green jobs czar"; he doesn't like our constitution's bill of rights; his wife wasn't proud of America until he got elected; he's a pathological liar documented a number of times over. How anyone can support the man given his well-documented record of lies and anti-American thinking is so beyond my ability to comprehend I'm stupified.

As far as his speaking ability, take away the teleprompter and he turns into a blathering, stuttering, hymhawing idiot.

Bush had trouble with teleprompters. He sure as heck didn't claim to have visited 57 states or declare anything about "my muslim faith".

How do you make a mistake like that, muslim in place of Christian when talking about your own religious faith? Two possibilities: You're a complete moron, or you're a liar. We know he's a liar. I don't think he's a moron.

Uh Blake, the current correct term is "Greedy Corporation"; run, of course, by overpaid CEO's who don't pay their fair share in taxes.
Do try to keep up.

I agree.

Bush was neither bright enough to pull some of that off or stop it.

The Community Reinvestment Act was essentially a tool for forcing banks to make STUPID loans to un-creditworthy folks or be labeled racist.

I'm all ears if anyone can marshal any credible contrary evidence.

Not sure where Drkside79 got his unemployment info, but here's what I found on the BLS site. I don't see a steadily declining unemployment rate. It looks pretty damn steady around the 9% mark. I'll give a link and image so you can make up your own minds though.

May I interject something? I remember all too well how the demolibs harped on how bad the economy was during the first decade of the century. I remember looking around on the interstate and seeing the commerce traveling back and forth. I remember unemployment being as good as most any time I have lived through. I remember inflation existing, but moderate at 2 to 3 percent per year. I remember buying, and then selling a home for a small profit.

My point? Naysayers of the day claimed all was bad when in fact it was not. Indeed, trouble was brewing under the surface, but even they didn't really know that at the time. It was a challenge to public perceptions intended to change reality to the favor of the idealists who were chomping at the bit to get back in power.

The demolibs have done it again with their screams about the Tea Party being to blame for the souring economic recovery and the ratings downgrade. Say it over and over and people start to believe, even if it contradicts reality, that Tea Partiers and Republicans crashed the economy on purpose because they are angry mean people who don't want the President to succeed. Low and behold there is now a poll out that shows just how much the general public bought the lie, too. Makes me want to curse dag nappit.

It's not wrong to be more upset with our press than the liars and marxists for whom they shill. An honorable responsible press would put an end to all the liberal lies and nonsense.

Except that they share the same philosophical belief systems and secretly if not openly cheer progressive leadership.

The press has been slowly dying since the 60's. It officially flat lined in 2008.

Frankly . . the guy is not bright and the folks who came with him when he took office have all fled.

But . . me personally? . . . having put 85% of my hard earned retirement into the GLD and the balance in SLV . . . I'd like to give him a big ol hug and thank him for the $xxx, xxx over the past month.

I hope he continues this "Hope and Change" until he gets booted from office.

Like the Democrats said in the New York Times today . . .we screwed up by not backing Hillary. We got the ideology we wanted, just without leadership.

But . . . in my effort to emulate the leader of the free world . . the next time my life begins to unravel . . . my ass is off to Cape Cod.

We deserve better leaders.

Back when I was a wee lad a certain president named Nixon took us off the gold standard and I suffered immediate economy loss, being heavily into commodities. Thus began my quest for knowledge in economics and investing. Mr. Warren the Buffet his very self has his Berkshire Hathaway downgraded by S&P but still tells us the US should have a quadruple A rating.

Meddling of politicians into global economics, e.g. going off the Gold Standard, is what is handing Western countries their *ss on a stick. Obama, being a personality of limited scope, not a politician of consequence, has managed to speed the downward ride to hell in a handbasket. Anyone else would have been able to hold off the severe drop for another decade.

The market is going to 7K, certainly, at the hands of the Obama financial masters of the universe. When it gets to 6K, someone awaken me for the buying opportunities.
