My ex wife has taken a job in Rockville MD, and is in dire need of a place to rent. She needs 3-4 bedrooms, and a garage would be a plus. Not having any luck with the realtor she's going through. Anyone know of any places for rent within a reasonable drive time to Rockville? Any help is appreciated. She's trying to keep it under $2K a month. | ||

Yes, that's been her experience. Doesn't have to be IN Rockville. I think she's willing to drive a ways. | ||

How much time is she willing to commute? Notice I didn't ask how far (distance). The traffic sucks around that area. And there are few major roads so one accident messes everything up. Is her job near a metro / MARC train station? I hope she is making $$ or has a significant other with a job too. 60K is the real living wage in that area. | ||

Hm. Depending on how things roll for me in the next 45 days or so...I may have a single-family, 2 acres, 2 car detached, in Frederick MD (less than 1/2 mile from route 15), that would fit her budget. 3BR (one currently an office), 1.75 bath (one tub, one shower), home theatre, eat-in kitchen, 1/4 acre fenced yard, deck, barn.... | ||

Joe, I think she'd be interested in that. 45 days away is a bummer though, she's in an extended stay hotel right now. She had to start the job right away, and moved there with no place to stay. Company is paying for the hotel though, so that's something. I think she only gets two weeks there though. | ||

James, Her willingness to commute is increasing daily. I've told her about the train/MARC and it looks like (from the maps I can find) that the places she's looking have MARC service close by. $100 a month for an unlimited pass. Not bad vs. the price of gas and what you'd spend driving. Job is in Gaithersburg, I was mistaken about Rockville. | ||

The traffic in that area sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks. I would go so far as to say that if she can't take the train she shouldn't take the job. I commute 125 miles a day and can tolerate that but I would not do that commute for any money. Just my 2 cents. | ||

There's a MARC station in Frederick now. Five minutes from my house. If she needs a place to crash, I have a spare room. NO furniture in it but room for a bed, next to the home office if she needs desk space, across the hall from her own bath. If you/she are interested, send me a PM.
