That would be logical.

no ... He was his own boss and he liked it like that, in the army, he would have had to listen to others give him orders. I don't think he would have lasted very long.

There really is no place on this earth for people like him. I have no sympathy for this guy... I hope he dies in an extremely painful way.

Ozzie:

Thank you for shedding some background and insight. I agree that is does nothing to ease the pain or erode the impact of the terrible acts, it's enlightening to know some of the social and political dynamics.

I'd count myself as both conservative and Christian and these acts are contrary to everything each of those stands for.

This guy, regardless of the source of his motivation, nonetheless acted on it in a way unimaginable to most around the world, regardless of political or social ideology.

My heart and prayers are with not only the families of the victims but the peace loving people who's country has been violated.

It's such a shame . . in a world knee deep in challenges . . that some folks have lost the ability to disagree in a fashion that doesn't require this insanity.

We can grow through our diversity of thoughts but it has to be through peaceful means and interaction.

I hope your family and friends were not among the victims. We are all, around the world, impacted.

Thanks Court.
My family and friends are all accounted for. "Impacted" - well they are all impacted. Especially my niece, who is a trained psychiatrist and were called to the island to comfort survivors and their family.

According to my brother, what she saw and experienced there will never be erased from her memory and is something no one should ever have to experience.

NY Times says Sarah Palin did it.

This whole thing seems so uncharacteristic of Norway & Norwegians. - Until this thought it was the last remaining country in the world that still functioned.

For shock experienced by survivors and witnesses, taking certain types of beta blockers is effective in avoiding lasting PTSD. I recommend the 3rd Viennese school, Logotherapy, created by Dr. Viktor Frankl, as described in Section II of his book Man's Search For Meaning.

I am very thankful that my family and friends over there were not in harms way when this tragedy struck.

Thanks, Asbjorn - I'm glad everyone is okay. I was looking forward to your take on this.

I saw that 21 years is the maximum sentence he can get. That's just absurd. I'm thinking he should have some kind of accident while in jail.

He probably won't even get that because now his lawyer says he is insane. He will get what he deserves eventually when he kicks the bucket... which in my opinion cannot be soon enough.

On our way to Laguna Seca my mom called to tell me about the news in Norway. We went there a few years ago on a very special trip (Zach, my mom, and I). So NYC, Virgina Tech, now Norway. I loved going into Manhattan often as a child, graduated from Va Tech, and recently explored our family roots in Norway, not far from Oslo. Three very special places to me, all filled with promise, all torn apart by marginalized people that could not appreciate the beauty that they destroyed. The underlying reasons were different, but the end results were the same - innocent lives were lost. The only possible good that I can see coming from this lies in how we react to it. I hope that we all react with compassion but without surrendering what is important to us. NY and Va Tech have recovered (but never forgotten), and I'm sure Norway will too.

God bless the families and friends of the victims - may they each find comfort and deal with this tragedy in their own constructive way.

Interestingly, being declared insane and unfit to plead means that you are locked away from society until you are deemed safe. That can be never as opposed to a 21 year maximum jail sentence if you are deemed sane enough to plead.

I note with amusement and proper caution the temporary joy @ islamofascist web sites in scandahoovia in the brief time when the nut was thought islamic. Sorry guys, this one seems to be a McVeigh. In other words, someone who you may actually agree with in parts of his complaints against today's society. But, alas, someone whose actions make his cause a loser. Like him.

Char, taste is taste.

talking simply physical beauty here. correct for age.
Palin's ok, ( though I find her annoying )
Hillary medium in looks. Not inspiring of sonnets from me.

I agree with the evil gerbil comment.

Now, in tv stars, I'm partial to A. Hannigan ( Buffy, How I met your mother, ) L. Prepon ( That 70's Show, October Road ) M. Kunis ( That 70's Show, Family Guy, Black Swan ) Erica Cera ( Eureka ) and several others, few who look like Ann Coulter.

( and ALL too young for me. I should be dating Debra Jo Rupp, like she'd have me. )

To sum up, Ginger? or Mary Ann? ( I'm a Mary Ann kinda guy. )

Wilma? or Betty?

I see Ann in palm beach once in while better with out all the make up.
Palin real men wish she had a little sister. Fake women hate her because they are so intimidated by her. Hillary hate to say it but she looks better now than she was younger I know thats scary But check out her pics YEOOW.
Most accomplished attractive women are hated by other women. The old MSDS sheet for women spells that out

Nope.

I hate them because of their politics only...

Cowboy, I never have trouble keeping my husband home because I never plan to get married.

I think the most attractive women in the US I would say:

1. Angelina Jolie
2. Gwen Stephanie
3. Scarlet Johansen

Angelina also does good work for the UN and you really can't beat that... if you have not seen it, rent Gia... mmmm mmmm mmmmm.

Loved Scarlet in Iron Man 2.
Angelina was more fun when she was married to Billy Bob. Sure, he's a talented actor & Rich, but a normal guy at least had hope. ( not to date Angelina, just that normal looking guys had a chance. ) Gia is great, I even like Salt.
Gwen, Thumbs up.
How about Milla Jovovich? Fifth Element? Perfect.
Or Christina Ricci. ( the smile scene in Adams Family Values. Priceless, and terrifying. )
Winona Ryder. Heathers. Nuff said.
Helen Mirren in Red. ( a bit more age appropriate for me. )

( much more pleasant subject than a crazy guy in Norway. Berzerker is a tradition, but killing Children is an affront to Freya. )

Cowboy, I fear that you may be leaning a bit too heavy on your cro-magnon side....

Women are no more strange than men.... And the comment on the husbands of women with certain political views... as far as I am concerned, any actions perpetrated by the husband, would reflect directly on the husband.

Angelina Jolie ... eww. Saw her naked. Very unimpressed. But any chick that wears a vial of blood around her neck and sleeps with knives has to be "entertaining", right? (I know, that's been a day or two ago... back in her Billy Bob phase).

Great big +1 mil on Scarlet Johansen though.
