Well, actually he builds and tests them until failure.
Once they pass his tests...

Glitch,
You saying your brother in law works at BorgWarner in Asheville NC?
If I'm not mistaken, Mike Ryan is running BW turbos now (under the Airwerks name).

More than it's trans can hold loaded. Dad works on rigs. 2400ft lbs seems to be the durable limit.

i have driven rigs with 500+ hp so i can only imagine what he has right there.. my loader at work has 450hp but that is nothing compared to the torque , the engine is the size of three of my bikes.. i love diesel power i have 350 in my f350 not alot but enough to move stuff

Sounds like he might work in the Tech Center (if he tests to failure)? If so, I likely know him.

I used to be at Detroit Diesel Corp, and we made an engine for a Sterling truck (which was the old Ford truck that had just been bought by Freightliner to be there low cost line).
We did a 14L Series 60 for them that was much faster than the Mercedes engine that Mike Ryan was running at that time (he had dropped DDC when the 2 strokes were banned from the racing for Pikes Peak).
While other engines claimed near 1200 bhp (which was about what the Euro race trucks were doing then), this was a sea level number, and meant little at Pike Peak 14,000ft.
We did one that made about 850-900 bhp, but did not drop off much at altitude thanks to a sweet turbo match and a trick with the compressor stage (that has become more common now). I don't recall the torque numbers from memory.
It was a ripper, but the driver hit the mountain on the trials the day before the race, so the truck lost power steering and brakes the day of the race. He still finished, but did not win (Ryan did).
This was all around 1999-2000 IIRC.
