Suzuki uses a system like that on the SV650, I think.
Oil cools the cylinders, water does the heads.

Anyways, it makes sense. Most of the heat happens up top.

Did anyone catch this:

"...there’s a push internally at Harley-Davidson to break-out and find a new way to engage riders, especially younger riders."

Do I really need to say it?

Sad.

"If there were only some way we could reach out to younger riders. What? No. Who would want to ride a sport bike? Tell Erik to take his racing hobby and pack sand."

To bad it's mainly old farts that ride/own buells. So Harley may be on to something.

The current generation does not want to ride bikes, the thrill, the sweat, the effort, the "it takes me away from my vedia game!"

Well.....except for Froggy!

Froogy's Buells are video games. Hell he has more technology on his 1125 than it took to put men on the moon in 1969.

Hey now, I know this current generation wants a bunch of hand outs and wants everything to be easy, but a few of us still like working with our hands and making things.

None of my friends have rebuilt engines from the block up, have rebuilt a supercharger and most don't even like to wrench. I do all my own work. It's a time for meditation and creativity. This 26 year old punk is trying to keep that flame lit.

Zen & the Art.....

I was near Chicago on the way to a family reunion. Riding in the back of a minivan with my Sisters dog... for 2500 miles.
We stopped at a motel, and on the way to dinner next door I noticed a trailer another guest had pulled in with, then unloaded a HD and rode off. Nice one. The trailer owner was up on the balcony with some buds drinking beer when we walked back and I complimented him on his rig.

He asked what I rode. I told him Buell. He said I didn't look like a Buell rider. I asked what a Buell rider looks like? "Younger".......

I don't think I qualify. I'm an old man at heart.

An ornery old bastard.

but I am chronologically 22 and I ride a Cyclone. I always buy American on anything significant when I get the chance, but the last thing I wanted was a Harley. I just really dislike their whole, " anybody who wants a bike smaller than a liter/that handles reasonably/that is cheap" style of doing business. I feel almost directly insulted by their line of motorcycles, there is nothing there that appeals to me, and they have to recognize that they're one of THE TWO American bike makers.

To think, if the Blast motor had not been so pathetic I would still be riding it. Sure there are things you can do to make it quicker but when your theoretical top speed is 94mph it's pretty clear you have a lazy engined bike. My Firebird's theoretical top speed in overdrive is like 225mph. I couldn't bear it. And the trouble involved in gearing it up, forget it, found a Cyclone for 700 bucks more (a dollar per cubic centimeter!) and don't regret it. I understand why Erik crushed the Blast, even if I take offense I understand.

don't get me started on Victory.

I think Harley is still the root reason why even Buells are considered old man bikes, they're muscle bikes, they only rev to 7 grand, they're air cooled, they've only got two cylinders and each of those cylinders only has two valves and a spark plug...no injectors to be found either in a great many of em. That motor is old hat any way you slice it and that is not always a bad thing.

but trying to appeal to younger riders? Is harley serious? Sometimes I hope that company reaps exactly what it sows.

Someone will come behind me and shoot my post full of holes, I don't care, I really dislike Harley and they really dislike me.

when Buell closed, it was the writing on the wall, I havent had the same enthusiasm for the HD brand or industry since. It was a double nut kick; after killing the Griffen.
