I listened to this earlier today and I thought it was interesting that according to Geoff all 100 bikes are spoken for already.

To race in AMA Superbike, MSRP must be under $40,000. $39,999 in this case.

For those of us who couldn't listen Tuesday night, could someone post any other highlights from the interview? Thanks in advance.

That is utterly awesome that the first 100 are spoken for.

Court- are they still waiting on EPA paperwork so that the 1190RS can be declared "race legal"?

"should have charged more"

My understanding is that AMA homologation rules state that a "production" bike has to be priced under $40k, and that somehow the carbon edition still meets that requirement even though it's $44k.

Sorry, can't remember where I read this info.

I'm guessing the extra $4K in carbon is considered accessories. I can't wait to see how the 1190 holds up to the hype so far. I'm wishing Erik Buell Racing the best! It would be awesome if this bike really is a game changer.

on that interview...
Geoff said about 30 bikes were built. Then later he said that all the ones that were built were spoken for.

I suddenly feel like Charley Bucket. Perhaps I'll take that money I found in the gutter and buy a lottery ticket.

Kevin- thanks for the link!

Geoff is very well-spoken compared to some racers. Favorite quote: "Erik has a lot of foresight; he has things planned way, way out."

To clarify, there is only one model of the 1190RS. The carbon-fiber edition is an accessory package that is optional on that model, not a separate model in and of itself. There's the possibility of a titanium edition as well, which might result in the loss of another 8-10 pounds -- but that would be much more expensive than the carbon package, if it were to become available.

Then it only follows there will eventually be an unobtanium edition as well, although come to think of it the first one is unobtanium to me...
