Local independent dealer and a bar in town had a bike show on Tuesday. Amongst the piles of Harleys there were some real cool bikes. Sweet ratty cafes, old Pucht scoots and 6 Buells. Couple of tubers, some XBs and this beauty:

The bike looked fantastic. He said he hardly comes on here but he found it in a barn in Ohio and restored it. 9mi on that odometer. Would have loved to hear it run but I unfortunately failed to ask him . Won a couple of trophies as well which you can see by the front tire. Finally a useful trophy! Great turn out though for the show.

I've never seen a cockpit view before. Those fork tubes are insane!

I wish I would have got more information from him on the bike and how he found it. Fascinating bike.

I would love to take that thing for a spin just once...heck I wouldn't mind a 1200 for that matter though the 1000 is just a bit cooler.

Looks like #006 . . . there are many non-stock mods there. It's pure art.

The bike is mine. It was made in Nov. '86 and sold in Feb.'87. It is street bike #002, which was sold a race bike. The person who purchased it, had it set up for endurance racing, thus the endurance racing front forks and nodular iron rear brake rotor. It came with a hand made header, with a 3" collector, the Michelin tires, Nouva Forcella front forks and a couple other non production pieces. It was sold as a complete roller. It was not used and parked in a dirt floor barn, as the Endurance class was canceled shortly after being purchased. The bike now has a Mikey Lichner built XR1000 motor in it. The motor has an S&S crank and rods, 12:1 E. Elliot coated pistons, billet cylinders by Vision Grindings, ported dual plug heads, tapered intakes with 40mm CV carbs and cams from HD racing dept. Much of the billet parts on the bike where re-made as the originals are pitted. The gauges are also non orignal, but I have all the original parts and title. More photos of the bike are posted on Buell Bulletin Board under Corba 13, Brian.

Ditto and darn nice to know where #002 is!

I never get tired of just sitting and staring at the RR-1000.

Brian,
I take it you were the one at RA on Saturday. I was disappointed that I didn't see you get out onto the track, what happen? I was busy with the crash truck all day and was hoping to stop by again after the races to take additional photos but seen you left early. I was hoping to get a few pictures of your S1 as well. Amazing bikes and thanks for bringing them out.

Thanks for all your great comments! Court I am just the same way, I look at it every day and can't believe that I own it! Venom5sc,family matters came up and off we went. I was never going to race it at RA, as it doesn't meet the rules for oil retention on the under side of the motor. Just can't get a tray under it with the body work and the header in the way. We might race it at Maxton Mile, but that is looking less likely every day. I just purchased an S&S SB 100 engine for the silver S1 you seen. More work than I initially thought. Stop by if your in Appleton, email is ntierney1@new.rr.com, Brian.
