In the Youtube video description for the engine build/Anthem, the band name is missing an H.

Free cd and T?

"the union/stars and blue "should" ALWAYS go to the upper left"

That is not ALWAYS true.

The flag should appear to be flapping in the breeze as the object it is on is moving forward. In the case of the pegasus with the flag embedded in it, the pegasus doesn't run backwards, so having the star field on the head, which just happens to be on the right, is correct since the flag would appear to be moving forward (not retreating) as the pegasus moves forward.

The star field is on the right on the starboard side of airplanes too. If it were on the left, it would be flying backwards.

This is also why it is on the right on the right sleeve of the uniform.

I was with wolf 100% till Hoot just explained that the pegasus is actually moving left to right on char's T, ...so the flag would be correct.... Unless there is a rule for front/rear versus Lside & Rside flags. Now I'm getting dizzy.

You should still be with me.... cause I can't find a thing saying it should be displayed that way...
it does make sense it should be headed in the direction of travel... but not correct

If I'm wrong I'll own it.... but for now I need something to prove me wrong....

Here's one...

If you're looking south at a flag flapping around in a wind blowing from the west, the star field will be on the right. Is the flag backwards?

Wolf,

Really what we are doing is alright. Please don't waste any more of your bandwidth on it. Military rules are different to begin with, and it is actually} acceptable to have the flag with stars on the right on apparel (just not military apparel), but the rule of motion is what we followed. So it is OK even by military style regs. The stars and stripes within the 1190RS logos on the bike blow back with the wind, so are different left side to right. The one on the page is from the right side of the bike...

Look... If you are allowed to make underwear in the pattern of the flag, then does it really matter what they are doing? The flag is hung attached at the stars and blows whichever way the wind is going depending on the viewpoint of the viewer.

I think they need to make a police special and see if they can take back some of the market from BMW.

In case of nuclear attack, walk to the light. You will not want to be a survivor.

Hahahaha . . I should have dug out my USMC manual as well . . it's stuffed in a box with my range book.

Seriously . . this has been a most illuminating and interesting dialogue. Erik Buell Racing, as an American manufacturer, is going to have reason to display the flag often and I, for one, will be looking a bit more closely on future occasions.

We're okay here but I have to chalk a bit of it up to pure luck. . . nothing looked amiss.

Equally important, and I think Mark and I would agree here, is that the display of the flag was intended and executed with no thought of disrespect. What gets my hackles up is blatant disrespect. (Perfect example: folks at a race track who mull about and bullshit during the National Anthem. I sometimes get strange looks locking the heels, hat off and hand over heart. That's the way it's done)

While digging about I also took a bit of time . . owing to some of the "who the heck will buy a $40,000 motorcycle" comments and noted the following.

The current version of the Ducati 1198R Corse sells for $39,995.00. There's your chance to save $5.00 and I note their sales are increasing impressively. Hopefully if folks will pay $39,995 they'll go an additional $5.00 for what is shaping up to be a better product.

Street bikes . . well, I see the Ducati Street Fighter Base rings the register at $14,995 and the 2011 Ducati Multistrada 1200 S Touring Edition at $19,995.00.

Ducati logged, with these prices, some of their best sales figures in years last year.

I think (pure blindass speculation) that Harley-Davidson, during the years they were so popular, got folks accustomed to paying $15,000 to $25,000 for a motorcycle.

Interesting to look at the prices of competing product and the more I look the more confident I am in the Erik Buell Racing business model.

These are great times . .

Very cool launch looking forward! Congratulations, Erik & Elves.

As for me, I'm looking forward to the 1190 "S1-Lightning-'one cheek'-cafe-racer" version... (but not holding my breath) ; )

The flag design is meant to work with in the horse head shape. That's it. It is artistic expression, not a political statement, so don't pollute the thread with unnecessary controversy. The flag represents the company's American roots.

I like it the way it is. It makes since. It is the way our flags were in the army.

Any way to get this topic back on track I love the new site, I think it is way better then the old Erik Buell Racing site but I am very curious about the future bikes and I like the new company's tease you tactic as apposed to the old Buell tactic of we don't discuss new models.

The flag in motion is always going to have the stars leading. That's what the logo and the shirts say to me. The company moving forward!
